  • For two years, the sheriff’s and fire pilots have waged a public dispute, sometimes racing each other to get their helicopters to rescue scenes, leading to growing concern that the quarrel will lead to an in-flight collision. Michele Gile reports.

    Why would this be a dispute? Clearly the fire authority is much more equipped and trained to handle those matters.

      They both have similar training for Search and Rescue, OCSD is just as equipped for this as OCFA with their helicopter.

    Ridiculous. It's all about $$$$. The more flight hours up the more money the agency receives

      Air Rescues make BIG $$$, no matter which agency.

      I get it but im saying their interest is not in the money but the rescue itself.
