I love listening to other people’s beginnings since I didn’t start in the tradition way at all. I had no tattoos at the time and just happened to pick up a rotary machine one day and fell in love with it. Then after about 6 months of practice, being internet/self taught I started taking clients out of my wife’s aesthetics studio for small pieces. Other tattooers in the area, who were my friends before, don’t respect it and say I’m “hurting the industry” because I didn’t take the traditional route. I’m not a vindictive person but I can’t wait for a few years from now when I can fully prove them wrong. Love the pod and your instructional videos are awesome John. Your style is incredible
I once did it accidentally, it was winter and long sleeve season. I realized it while getting inked. Turns out the artist was awesome. Got recognized by Pony Lawson for his RUclips tattoo of the week. It's a gamble but not always does it mean the artist is bad. I feel ya though regardless.
To be fair with tattoos it's down to whether the person is good at them or not as with many jobs and passions. Whether that person has them or not isn't an indicator of skill level.
I don't think being tattooed means you're good or bad, but I agree with Cam. It helps. I also don't agree that feeling it helps. I mean watching other people tattoo helps, but that doesn't mean getting tattooed helps. Hope I made sense. 😂
As a tattoo artist for 10 yrs i truly believe you should not be doing things to humans that you have not experienced yourself. Good bedside manner is not possible if you do not know how it feels to wipe a certain way or to go for hours. I learn so much on how i can improve my clients experience by making notes of my own. If you dont know how that feels, you should not being doing it to others.
@franktank4511 if you are awake during your surgery and require bedside manner..yes. luckily you are not awake during your surgery so your comment doesn't apply. But..if you are a surgeon who has gone through surgery as a patient, you would have insight on how to improve your post op procedures and instructions. If any human is going to do something painful to me, I want the one who has gone through it themselves. If you blindly follow people based on what they think they know..that's you friend
@@samishmiel9988I understand where you are coming from, but we also know that different people have different pain tolerance, someone can sit for hours for a large tattoo and some people can barely sit a few minutes for a small tattoo without asking to take a break. I personally have many tattoos from different artists, some who are heavily tatted, and some who are now. 1 of them happens to be Goldy. She might not have tattoos, but she is very caring when doing the work. She is attentive and asks if a break is needed. I remember when she did my first one. She actually took a break after a few hours, cuz I kept saying no, at one point I even fell asleep. It helps that she specializes in single needle or fine needle work. But I have had had tats from artists who are heavy handed and are also attentive. Maybe it's just a Goldy thing and she just happens to be really careful and caring about what she does. It's a case by case basis
I personally would never get tattooed by someone who only does It for money. If you don’t love the art form enough to have any of It. Then you’re only in It to monetize your art. Not because you love tattoos. Cause at a core level if you’re not tattooed, you can’t say you like tattoos. At least not to me
I'd only get a tattoo from an artist passionate about tattooing that they aren't ashamed of wearing tattoos on their body. This just screams she has no interest in tattoos other than the money.
As somebody who only has a couple tattoos and isn't balls deep in this game I think its cool as FUCK that she has no tattoos. There are too many artists who have shit tattoos and as much as I can justify it as "practice" it also makes me question the person's judgement.

I don’t think I want a tattoo from an artist with none themselves.

Why not?

So do you need to have a surgery to be a surgeon?

Id subscribe to OnlyCams😂😂😂
Her face tattoos are a little bit over the top!
nothing cool about making money off tattoos without having any. this woman is a con artist
It’s basically tattoo grifting
Can’t stand that shit.
Go sell paintings
Go confiscate her equipment and make it illegal. Take it to congress!
