Great video Adriene! I work with former/retired athletes to help them map out the next chapters of their lives once their athletic careers are over. As you might imagine, I come across many former athletes who are interested in landing jobs in the sports industry. I will be sure to point them in your direction. Looking forward to following your work!

What are some jobs that are very specific to sports (besides coaches and such)? For example a business analyst for the Dallas Mavericks would pretty much do the same job as a BA for Walmart. Any feedback you can give me would help!

Volunteer. Volunteer. Volunteer. Internships, trade based agreements, minimum wage jobs at stadiums/arenas. Your degree alone will not get your foot in the door. You won’t get paid until you sacrifice your time. Teams need good help. Get in the building, go above and beyond, get paid.

Thank you very much for this video. I did not know about the specialized websites out there, so this was an eye opener. A specific question: What networks would you recommend if one would like to get into the tennis industry? Or at least speak to someone to see if that is the right direction that I can take? I have about 4-5 years experience and counting in regards to networking, advising and organizing Social Tennis events in the Rockville and Olney, MD area, but would like to get into a career with these skill sets instead of doing this pro bono. Thank you very much for any help given.

@@Jah8178 it just depends on what you want to do! I would do sport management if you’re not sure what you want to do with sport. If you want to be more of sports trainer, go with kinesiology. Otherwise, I would go with sport management
