    This was a custom order 7'6 Long Fish. The laminating was done over 2 days. As you can see there is a lot of prep for a 20 minute lamination. There is still another 10-12 hours work into this board over 3/4 days until it is ready to surf.
    Filmed with a GoPro Hero 12 and Samsung S10 smartphone.

    This was the best lam ive seen done on youtube
    Rookies take note!
    He takes time to ensure the cloth is fully saturated
    Especially on the double layers
    His color is flat and without splotches
    He saturates the lap two different ways
    His cut lap is clean
    He uses his own techniques to get it right
    Even showed you a trick with the heat gun
    This is free education
    Very much appreciated

      Thanks for this, much appreciated. I did ask myself am I giving too much away but decided its better to pass knowledge on. The aim was also to show those who don't know how boards are made just how much time and preparation goes into them. Many mistakes have been made to get to the point where I am today 😆

    0:38 Do you totally eyeball it when masking the rails? It always takes me forever to get the tape to match the curve of the outline perfectly and to match the other rail. It would be great to see a video of how you do that so perfectly.

    • @electrofishsurfboards
      @electrofishsurfboards  4 месяца назад +2

      Hi Joe, yeah I do eyeball it. It will sometimes take a few attempts until I am happy. Once I pull the tape up I find it kinks the tape so have to start again with fresh tape. I check the nose and tail quickly with a layout square aswell to check the laps are the same width.
      If your doing longer boards try a 2" tape to practise as the wider tape allows you to lay a smoother curve.
      I will go into a bit more detail on my next vid. Thanks for watching.

    Just found out you could do that trick with the little snaggle or nick in the foam.. my glasser just glassed over like 5 of them.. either lazy or inexperienced and it’s a big well known shop🙄🙄

    • @electrofishsurfboards
      @electrofishsurfboards  4 месяца назад

      Yeah it makes a big difference on translucent tints as will show alot darker even with scratches ect. Clears/opaque doesn't matter too much. The only time it can't be helped is with bubbles in the foam. You can fill with filler but still looks slighlty different to the colour of foam.

      Thanks! This one was a twin i have done the same model with quads though, they go well in bigger hollow surf. Didn't put it in the vid as fin plugs went in after lamination. Will put a full build vid up soon of the next boards I've shaped.

    I’m ordering a 9’9” longfish glider from my shaper soon and am wondering about bottom contours… Deepest Reaches has contours similar to a bonzer ( which I’ve had a few and loved em ) and seems to make sense… if anyone has some input I’d be interested in hearing about it. 🤙🏻

    • @electrofishsurfboards
      @electrofishsurfboards  5 месяцев назад

      Seems to me there are 2 different type of fish bottom contours. The performance or modern fish which runs mainly concave through and out the tail and then the retro original type which is rolled in the nose flat or concave in the middle then a bit of vee in the tail.
      This one in the video is the bottom contours I do on all of mine now which is light roll upfront to give the lift, running through to a light concave in the centre that then turns to spiral vee just infront of the fins and vee out the tail. The spiral vee is like double concave vee so has the rail to rail of classic vee but a bit more hold or bite. The concave in the middle I always prefer as directs the water through the board to the tail and in my opinion is always the fastest. Hope this helps a bit.
