Arendal is going to have new 1528 series. It could be very helpful if you compare it in the near future. Also, I know it is probably not a fair comparison, but would you choose the tower version over the smaller speakers version? Maybe this question is in general - towers vs speakers? In my opinion, towers are always better, because they go much lower with smaller woofers, which makes most of the bass more punchy and fast than adding a big subwoofer. But maybe speakers on stands is more safe if you have kids/pets, unless the grill is metal.
@@pavelmarchev1468 It's going to vary quite a bit depending on your situation on "which is better." There is no one fit all type of answer as with most things that have to do with audio. I explain in the video how this speaker may be even better for some people and give a few scenarios
I haven’t heard them, but I tried to lift one up and it was nearly impossible. THIS is what makes this speaker have the potential to sound phenomenal. The cabinet is EVERYTHING in speaker design. I think Arendal even applies multiple layers of paint INSIDE the cabinet…now that’s what I’m talking about….it’s not just 12 coats on the outside, they paint the interior too. That earns my respect.
Awesome. That's what I am aiming for. What other speakers you used for surrounds and Atmos? Have you measured how loud your theater can play, and what's your room size? Thanks, I'm building a dedicated HT setup, and ascof now, I didn't find better speakers for the money.
Great review. I own the Arendal 1723 THX monitors. I experienced the same exact results for the front sound stage. I set my speakers on axis towards my main listening position and the center staging is perfect. I have my speakers for movies and music and they do both extremely well.
Great review, I like you new direction with adding more charts and explanations of sound attributes of the speaker (e.g. airiness). Helps a lot. Thanks!
Really great review with some helpful pairing and value options to consider. Always had an eye on these! Seem quite flexible with a wider selection of amps.
Excellent review. I ordered the Arendal 1723 THX. They arrived slightly damaged from shipping, so I returned them. Now, I'm awaiting the arrival of the 1528 series. I can't afford the $9,500 price tag for the towers, but the monitors might be doable. Hopefully, you'll be able to review them soon
I have these speakers on order. Hope to have them in couple weeks time. You're not the first to audition and really like these speakers as I've been following several other reviewers rave about them and in a couple cases award them top 10/10 ratings. Since they like plenty of juice, I believe my Atoll IN300 amp will be up to the task and hopefully make them sing. Since I''m Canadian, the cost for me is like an additional $1k, but if this is going to be my end-game speaker, I was willing to throw more money at it. Here's hoping it was worth it. Psstt...don't tell the wife I spent that much money!
@@Jayiyagi Well, just an update...I finally got these speakers and have been listening to them for the last 3 months while using the Atoll IN300 integrated amplifier to power them. I was not disappointed. The pairing has been wonderful. The IN300 handles 4ohm loads at 260 watts, no problem. At first the speakers sounded a bit stiff, but after a month of use they loosened up and sound great to me. I believe my search has ended.
Great review. Running Canton Speakers in 7.2.4. I have been looking at Arendal. Also where did you buy does nice tilting stands I see? There is no link to them.

My favorite speakers were/are my Norman Labs Model 7. 12" woofer and 2 Philips soft dome tweeters with that 1500 crossover with big sound stage that i need.
Jay: I enjoy your channel. I got a Galion A20 from Thomas (I love it, BTW). I listen nearfield (1m) and low to moderate volume (50-80db but mostly around 65db). I asked Thomas about these 1723s and whether the A20 can drive them at the levels I listen, and he suggested asking you.
Now you chose to review the ‘S’ version of the Monitor, which has 2 6.5”mid-woofers as opposed to the regular 1723 Monitor which has 2 8” mid-woofers. Perhaps the regular Monitor would meet the Tower and the ‘S’ version half way as far as bass is concerned and negate the need for a sub with the ‘S’ version while retaining the ‘S’ version’s superior imaging?
You would think that but the Monitor is just slightly more emphasis in mid bass and treble. Not necessarily lower extension of the bass, both objectively and subjectively. That's probably why I said that I preferred the S monitor even compared to the more expensive/bigger Monitor.
@@Jayiyagi Just looking at both of them, the S is sealed whereas the regular monitor has 2 ports, giving you the option of leaving them open, or sealing one or both. So they are two different animals really.
