- Recently, the train enthusiast community faced off with possibly the most noisiest and dramatic case of public nusiance during the first day of service for Alstom Movia R151 running on the North-South Line. Train Enthusiasts upon seeing the train pull in, started making a extremely loud ruckus and most of their antics was caught on camera.
With much debate and opinions spreading around, I decided to give my own thoughts of the whole situation. Sit back and relax! Enjoy my little yapping in this video.

This sucks a lot when the reputation of transportation enthusiasts is already very vulnerable in the first place.
This is why I'm embarassed telling my friends that I'm a transport enthu 💀
Istg if anyone goes do the same thing for the TEL4? What happens if they flag the train like a lady on the vid in IG
I never ever tell people I'm some transport enthu. I rephrase it to like "ah I do videos of publlic transport in Singapore.. just some sort of hobby to do when I'm free." Usually it gets me a much better reply then a straight up "IM A TRANSPORT ENTHU" type shiz.

Well this was honestly disappointing because it affects the reputation of the whole community, even those who are innocent and did not engage in this kind of stuff

Really a great video. Hopefully, this will spread awareness to all train enthusiasts not only in Singapore but also anywhere that they should stay calm and formal, especially on a rare event like the R151's debut.

NSL is more chaotic ngl since half of the nations population used it and its finally bringing a new model since 2018 or smth

Tbh, as a rail enthusiasts for 6 years now and one of the frequent commuter, I have never seen 'these' kind of behaviours until the R151 debuts which has really gone 'too much'! I am very saddened and disappointed of some kids and enthusiasts who 'shouted' endlessly when entering the train and even when train doors are closing. Yes, It can be a exciting moment for the enthusiasts and regular commuters but there are 'limitations' to be made as these trains will stay with us for the long time. Luckily there was no such situation when 685/686 (which is now apparently the 'KSF' successor to the late 215/216) did it's service on the CGL on 21 May even if it was a full day service. TEL Stage 4 will be the next major transport event and I really hope this incident don't happen again or get even worse during the open house or the debut day please! This is PUBLIC transport not 'PRIVATE' transport, it is for all commuters to enjoy a comfortable ride

I actually was there for the original debut (At Ang Mo Kio) and it was so much more quieter and civilised compared to this. Hoping that other enthus will take note to be quieter during the next opening!

it’s a visually pleasing sight to see. I myself really like the r151, it’s simply gorgeous in my eyes. But my lord, I wouldn’t go until this kind of reaction.

I totally understand that feeling, I’ve been stalked on and gotten cameras shoved in my face before. Some people just have zero chill. Unfortunately, as influencers this is what we have to deal with ba. A simple “hi” and wave or a small talk conversation, is great. However not until the point of stalking and invading personal space…

Marina South Pier is so quiet when I go there but this is very noisy. Luckily I didn't go for the R151 debut on NSL.

hahaha, I rewatched the EWL debut, there was cheering, there was a little shouting. I find that moment to cheer okay because SMRT was also celebrating it together with the enthusiasts. So yeah.

Hahah as I already expected , a reaction video!
As a old enthusiast myself I really can't understand just what is wrong with those foamers. I mean it's nice that there's enthusiasm around the debut of the R151 on NSL but there should be boundaries to be adhered to. I and many others just want a quiet and peaceful ride in the train and maybe get some pictures and videos of our joyride without the foamers screaming and chanting. The chanting of "open open open ~~" sounds silly as the train doors will open automatically since this is a fully automated train running on timetable. Even last week when 685/686 did CAL on T101, it wasn't chaotic. I really don't get all these shouting and screaming for 839/840 on NSL. Not like this is the only R151 that will do NSL. Will have more coming over the next few weeks and months, though majority will stick to EWL.
As a staff myself too, if I was there during the mayhem I would have told them off to behave themselves. When TEL4 opens I hope these foamers learned their lesson and keep their behaviour in check. It is very embarrassing that this is happening despite our best efforts to get LTA on our side to support our interests and passion for buses and trains. They (the foamers) can do a lot better.
Meanwhile the rest of us who remained composed and quiet while taking pictures and enjoying the ride, thank you very much and let's all enjoy our ride!

I agree with all yours points so much. I mean honestly, there’s always a proper time and place. Like for eg, R151 when it first debuted on the EWL, people can freely cheer and celebrate, after all SMRT was also celebrating the moment together with the enthusiasts. However, this NSL debut is more for a soft launch, so I don’t think it was even appropriate to do this so call “trend” of shouting OPEN OPEN OPEN.

Another good point you brought up though it isn't so widely talked about is the hate for KSF trains. I really don't get it either. They are just as good as the other previous generations of trains. If the foamers really hate KSF trains, they better don't come to TEL at all cos my line is using driverless KSF trains! No foamers more peaceful 😌

@@_my.nightroutine._ As staff even we are not that concern about whether the train is China or Korean or French built. We are more concerned about the signalling system because if the signalling fails, it could possibly cause a mayhem and by then, whether the train China built or not, it doesn't really matter.
And I just realised today is the 13th year that the KSF C151As have been in operation. Happy 13th anniversary to the C151As!
1:47 I bet people at Fort Siloso can even hear them cheering from MSP.
I took the R151 tdy same trainset TN 203 on the NSL for the first time ever. Also second time debuting on NSL. It wasn’t chaotic or have any cameras. I think it’s better to wait for the second time as the commotion didn’t happen when I rode it. Just a heads up: Take the second or third ride to avoid the chaos by uncivilised kids.
I skipped a portion of church service just to film the first trip of this from Ang Mo Kio.
I can't believe all this happened....even after MULTIPLE reminders and warnings to behave themselves, they just decided to turn a deaf ear to it in exchange for views and subs. There was even one footage where one guy was gesturing to them to calm down.
Fun fact, I was the one who initiated the cheering during the EWL R151 debut and it was much more organised compared to this....
But even so, this comm is cooked. Hope this spreads awareness :)

I'm not sure about the horn procedures for the train captain. I assume they can't just freely press the horn without approval so kids comin up to ask seems a bit out of line..

Can confirm, I'm the Chief of Batam Police, and we've received several reports from our members of the public about these strong echoes of kids screaming from as far as the southern coast of Singapore
Ikr. It's quite unacceptable to see these enthusiasts treat an MRT station like an outdoor playground. There are other train enthusiasts and normal passengers that want to have a quiet wait at the station as well as a quiet ride.
These enthus need to understand the huge difference between an outdoor playground and a train station.
And they need to learn how to behave like typical mainstream ppl, BLENDING IN IS BETTER THAN STANDING OUT

I am going to TEL4 Open House, also i am going to Punggol Coast MRT Station in End-2024 by skipping C751C and C851E (NEL) train to wait for C751A train, also I will go first day of C851E (CCL) debut in 2025 and I will go to CCL6 Open House in 2026

Just, Hong Kong has more police to deal with them, and Singapore has someone showing their gentleman sausage.

5:51 Well for me the hype died out, my dad (TC for EWL) told me that the R151 kinda sucked cuz its been causing problems sometimes, from apparent Battery overcharging to failing brake test before entering service 🙃(also E-Braking for no apparent reason) It seems that to me R151 is kinda rushed into service. R151, unlike C151s, is NOT an ordinary train, its a software train.
new things as always are bound to have teething issues, after a while all the issues should be fixed
Have you tried turning off and on the train to clear the fault? (No kidding, this is SOP for most new metro networks)

I think there’s always the right place and time to do the cheering and all. This was more of a soft launch compared to the R151 debuting on the East West Line last year. Last year, SMRT was also celebrating together with the enthusiasts so nothing wrong with cheering. I think this current debut on the North South Line isn’t really the right time, plus add on Singaporeans tend to be more reserved than outspoken.

Honestly the "open" culture would've been controlled and has a sentimental value if not done like this. It's just a war crime scene. I'm disappointed, as one of those people to enjoy the Putrajaya Line opening in a way more civilised and cheerful manner.

i'm a young transport member myself, but i wouldn't act so immature when the SAME train in the fleet debuted on the NSL. i'm trying not to act ignorant here but i would just peacefully take a picture and done! i'm quite an introverted person so i think other people may be against my opinion.
