With China announcing they're working on their own digital coins to replace fiat currency and the likelihood of other nations following suit over the years, what's your opinion on what that'll mean for current crypto and block chains?
I know the decentralization theory, but people have been giving up their rights for decades, I'm just unsure that currency going completely digital is going to be humanities line in the sand, so to speak

is having my crypto on a desktop wallet ok during the halving?
is this a serious question? The halving affects NOTHING to do with any coins you already hold. ALL it means is the SUPPLY of NEW COINS BEING MINTED gets "halved." Think of it like this: if the FED prints HALF as many 20 dollar bills next month as it did this month, it went through a "halvening" (as per the Bitcoin protocol rules). It wouldn't do anything to any of the 20 dollar bills you already had would it? No. Now it might "devalue" them in some OVERALL sense, but it doesn't affect the immediate 20 bill in your walletas far as turning it into a 10 magically or something. NO ONE NEEDS TO WORRY ABOUT HALVENING

Yes that's just fine, my point about the halving is just not having your coins on exchanges where they can, and historically have, failed or shut down during a big event in the crypto space. As long as you own your own keys and it's stored safely, you're good. No action required by you

Crypto Myth-Busters is a genius idea....especially from a personal perspective - 3 weeks a go we went into lockdown in NZ and I consumed new crypto info everyday...now my mates are keen to learn and from the basic stuff that I know I'm going to be teaching them tomorrow hopefully and bust any myths they have..

1- If there are other coins that have faster transactions, why is Bitcoin the main gold standard?
2- Proof of stake does that only help those who are rich and have a huge amount...
Can you do a vid on how you would go about changing careers? Maybe you can start with becoming a developer or cyber security. Where you would go to get started? What prgrms you've heard are good places to start? Coding boot camps, Woz univ......etc. Thanks!

Hey Hashoshi, thanks for the great content as always. Honest question: Do you think I'm crazy to hold more ADA than ETH?
I don't think so. I've also recently become a big fan of Cardano, and I think many in the crypto space have dismissed it due to its numerous delays. However, since its much more "under the radar" than Ethereum, it has a much higher market cap increase potential in the mid term (1-3 years), IMO. Put differently, I think its much more feasible for ADA to go from $0.03 to $0.30 in the next 2 years (10X increase) than ETH to go from $170 to $1,700. Also, Charles Hoskinson and IOHK do a phenomenal job of providing project updates on a consistent basis, and if all goes according to plan, this year is gonna be huge for Cardano. Staking, smart contracts, increased decentralization, etc. Check out the video Charles uploaded yesterday. Put simply: I think now's the time to get in to Cardano, because a lot more people are gonna know about it soon.

What's your opinion on the enterprise to blockchain narrative ? Via ethereums baseline protocol UBT and LINK seem to be taking this very seriously.
I think this narrative will feature massively in the next crypto bull cycle
I think Enterprise Blockchain is going to be huge - I think that UBT and LINK will be instrumental in getting enterprises onto public networks, not just private ones. THAT is the key :)

Whats happening with Enigma? Are they apart of Defi?
I'm not 100% up to date on Enigma but they were working on privacy oriented features for smart contracts; in other words, they were experimenting with private execution of smart contract scripts and private transactions. They might be moving towards DeFi but I do not know for sure. I'll tell ya what, I will research it and put it into the Friday episode this week :)

As usual for the last 3 years bearish scenarios have more chances ...to rekt us. But! Im very curious to know, your perspective with this.. I was like you and what seems like everyone else, bullish on ADA. However i came ro the conclusion that Charles, apart from being an excellent speaker, uses that to his advantage and is simply BSing everyone. Personal thoughts here, but i did excuse Cardano from my portfolio..
The question is, taking into consideration of all the nothing that has came out for Cardano, the delays, Charles's contract coming to an end this year, etc. What are the odds he really was/is BSing everyone and that ADA will inevitably be a huge disapointment? In accordance to you?

In terms of Cardano, Charles is not god - if he leaves or walks away, the hundreds if not thousands of other people who created this will continue to work. 2020 is make or break. They've spent years writing formally verified code, peer reviewing mathematical papers for Shelley's incentives structure, etc. so now is the time to show that work off. If 2020 ends without Shelley in mainnet, that will shake my belief in the project, but I put that risk at 1-2%. All personal opinion here. I hear what you're saying but I don't believe that Charles is just "BSing" mainly because I can see their code repos and watch their commits. If it were BS there wouldn't be quality commits going into 10 repositories every day.

Yes, exchanges tend to "freeze up" when things get nuts. I.e. the owners turn them off.

Question: Monarch Wallet Vs Hardware wallet (Trezor or Ledger)..Any major disaadvantages with Monarch App?
If not, why do we need a hardware wallet? .For me , I do like having a physical device, but no explainable reason.
ShapeShift is an exchange with self-custody features. It's quality. The fees used to be a bit high but they're much better now.
In terms of Monarch, it is a desktop and mobile wallet application that supports hot and cold wallets (connected vs. non-connected) - which is quite solid if a hardware wallet is not an option. The big difference is rather than simply encrypting or obfuscating the keys like a mobile/software wallet does, a hardware wallet actually stores the key material in a secure element (a piece of hardware) that is tailor made to secure the key and perform secure signing operations. A hardware wallet is always the more secure option in terms of key exposure IMO

Thanks for the Monarch vs Hardware comparison. To be honest, I think a hardware device is better for the biggest idiot in the room ie me.... I think the ideal wallet is super secure against hackers, but also compensates for the fallibility of individuals...(so easy to lose keys a passowrd phrase etc

I am not a big fan of Quant personally... they are taking a really general problem that is already super crowded and taking a SaaS approach to it. If you want interoperability, you can't close it off and make it paywalled like that. I also don't get the whole idea of making "an ethereum smart contract available on Hyperledger". They are incompatible products IMO
I'm not saying I hope they fail, I'm just saying I'm unconvinced personally. Take it with a grain of salt :)

when i think of web 3.0 i thought it was separate from the internet. As in internet is not needed for blockchain transactions or anyone can send and receive even if they were offline in the middle of the forest. Very disappointed its dependent on the internet
I will say this: technologies like mesh networking by GoTenna for example can very much decouple blockchain transactions from the internet. They've even built out a functional way to send BTC transactions P2P offline using their devices.

Hi Oren - happy to help here. First thing to evaluate is this: did you update the wallet recently? Do you have your seed phrase backed up somewhere?
The first thing I would try is connecting to Ledger Live and adding back any apps that might be missing and then re-adding wallets to see if it just got wiped on internal storage from an update. This is common and warnings go up all over the place when updating to remind you that you need your seed phrase in the event the update clears storage. My initial thought is that this is not a hack, but if your seed phrase was exposed to the web or someone got to it, then it could be, I cannot tell you that for sure since I don't know how you've secured your seed phrase.

I think it would still be MILES cheaper transferring large (millions) sums of money through BTC than regular banking. Also, infinitely faster. Small transactions, cardano or similar would be better.

I think the ITN has been a really solid learning experience and gotten the core bugs cleaned up. Once the Haskell TN comes out, we are within 3-4 weeks of mainnet IMO

Ethereum 2.0 is not a fork, it's an entire new blockchain altogether. Ethereum's staking is gonna arrive this summer, that's almost a no brainer IMO. The sharding and EVM updates might take into 2021.
Both have value; Cardano can silence the critics by putting out Shelley and Goguen this year - that would be the ultimate competitive move.
