A 1080 Ti for streaming netflix? What the FUCK
Is it for streaming games?
ThatGuySheridan Yes for 1080p he needs 1080 ti in sli
I said aloud the exact same thing!!! This is a HTPC and I guess a 4K living room gaming PC to boot \😐/
4k streaming
Why not, probably going to last another 7 yrs, saves upgrading.
That feel when Bitwit's 6-7 year old HTPC is better than my current main PC.
I haz those feels too.
i feel you
Get a job.
Christian Stout his htpc is more powerful than mine. I have a job but I can't afford a better one yet, if I buy a new pc I have to eat ramen for a couple of months. Maybe OP has the same problem.
Dion Rest Yeah eat Ramen noodles for 2 months and take 10 years off your life.... for a computer???? Do you realize how bad all those instant noodles are for your health?
HTPC my ass, more like dream gaming pc
It's Kyle's HTPC... So he can do what he want.
trinitysoul... There are over 500 Stupid Comments (most comments on youtube are stupid as fuck)... I have NOT even used my time, on 99.99% of them. So you are quite wrong here.
TheAronDark you've replied to at least 3 comments on this video alone. Idk about his other videos
7600k
Justin Esparza I don't think a 7600k bottlenecks a 1080Ti right?
that 1080 ti is perfect for netflix mate good choice
MT441PL it’s a fucking Joke mate
Everyone knows more CUDA cores are necessary for Netflix
LMAO... Yeah he has his own personal view about what would be a "standard", thus no surprise here ;-)
I don't get the point of htpcs. Would just buying like a $75 Blu Ray player be better.?.. It plays Blu Ray and has a bunch of streaming apps
Yoko Kurama, you could build your HTPC as I did : since then I don't pay for TV cable leases an such, I can get the same news on the Net as well as movies including my own collection. It sits nicely under the FHD TV. With a small footprint, but powerful enough for me to also play Skyrim or TESO in Ultra or other type of leisure (including more serious office / school work), right in the living room. I have full control via a wi-fi backlit remote controller, including multimedia buttons, a mini keyboard and finger-slider mouse. I Can do just about anything, without the limitation of those TV or BR devices little applets.. *What I don't like* is that since they're compact, ITX mobo manufacturers should provide for an _imperative_ Wi-Fi functionality, and case manufacturers should provide nowadays standards in I/O ports for attaching external devices like some RAID USB NAS storage - or even and external GC -, via Type-c Gen 2 or better, thunderbolt 3. At least USB 3.1 but most of them still don't. Like, come on : the fact of being "compact" cries out loud for top notch communication/transfer functionalities with the bare bones of the IT Home.
if your looking through the comments.. be warned.. Over 90% of the comments involve people complaining that Kyle used a 1080 Ti
Captain Kye *you're
No, mine
Good, why tf would you use a 1080ti for a HTPC? Not even talking about budget, that’s just wasting performance because that will NEVER be used fully. You can have a 4k HTPC with a 1050 for christ’s sake.
And this is exactly what I wanted to see. I want to build a fully fledged non-OCed gaming system and I needed to check if it can handle a big triple fan GPU.
you're****
Doesn't use ryzen because its overkill and all he needs is 4 cores.
Uses GTX 1080ti FTW3 because he can.
Kyle Aguiar That wasn't his reasoning behind the decision. He said that there aren't many good mini-ITX motherboards for AM4 and that's why he went with Intel.
I Know it was just a joke
The thing is Ryzen 4 cores deliver way better performance per dollar. A 1500X 65w is 90% of the performance of an i7 6700/7700 65w while costing nearly half with less power consumption and way less heat output.
Nintendork a ryzen 4 core has 90% same performance as 6700k/7700k? Haha no ryzen cpu comes close to 6700/7700k in gaming were talking 30/40 fps more in alot of games, ryzen can't even beat a 2012 2600k lol u ryzen fan boys are so delusional its funny
Norry Rampage I am an Intel User but you should do some research cause you are actually wrong.
yes need a 1080ti for a home theater nice!
ThePickle1818 I agree since it might be a 4ktv
Ruben Ferrer 400/500 support 4K
Just get a 1030 or rx 550 if you just want 4k support :P
a 1050 or 1060 will be more than enough for 4k tv support especially if you are just streaming and watching Netflix
Needs a 1080ti for light internet browsing and streaming. I NEED IT FOR EVERYTHING
so thats what the 7600k box looks like when the box isnt heavily damaged by the ebay seller
JP-21 A beautiful, underrated comment. My 6600k from eBay wasn't even real (but luckily I got my money back).
Heh. Everyday im a little happier that i live within driving distance of microcenter.
dogboy0912 if you're going to buy pc parts, dont do it on ebay, however graphics cards should be fine
1080ti
light web browsing and netflix.
makes perfuck sense. Kyle is turning into linus.
TrolleyMC oh yeah. This is the best comment
"I don´t need more than 4 cores. But I do need a 1080Ti"
-Bitwit 2017
Deuz he never said that he needed a 1080 Ti... so that’s incredibly innacurate
That's because at 2AM - when wifey is asleep - it somehow manages to turn from being a home theater to being a gaming rig.
@mjv I like both AMD and Intel, still if you want max FPS you'd go for Intel with the highest clockspeed.
No gamer ever said, "look at my 16 cores", because clockspeed matters more.
@@hanse81 this aged like wine
@@michalthemichal3550 AMD has finally got the clockspeed and performance up to the level of Intel!!! It may have been about ten years with Intel on top but until 11th gen, AMD will get to say they are best for gaming. I plan on getting the 59005950x unless Intel has a good counter.
"Only for web browsing and streaming Netflix"
*puts a 1080 ti in it*
You do know... Kyle did say OVERKILL, on Purpose ^^
That is what all the venders send him, probably he has a dozen 1080-TI and one 1060. Moreover while seemingly not planned from the way he was talking it demonstrates what can fit.
"I don't really need ryzen for what I'll be doing which is *LIGHT WEB BROWSING* *AND STREAMING SERVICES* *LIKE NETFLIX"*
*WHAT, YOU HAVE A 1080ti.* You better be watching *5000 Hz 64k* video on netflix
Brendan Bassett maybe he wants to game. That i5 makes more sense than a r5/7 cpu
Sounded like he put it in there just because he had it.
Kareef Huggins , he is probably going to take it out of that pc after he ends making this video, and sell it
Very unlikely that he purchased the card. I guarantee EVGA sent it to him for cheap advertising. A 1080Ti in an HTPC is overkill.
Tage Nasty It also looks like Intel advertisement.
Gtx 1080 ti for a home theater....
Meanwhile, im gaming on a gtx 1050 ti 😂
Dude.. I use a GTX 580 : D
im gaming on a 750ti
Heard those are still kicking it nice and solid for a few things
Gtx 780, rocking solid
I am enjoying my htpc with a 1050 ti and older i7 3770. Runs amazing for 1080p gaming
For my ultra wide 3440x1440 still rocking a 980ti runs amazing for 1440
Looks Phantastic!
Haha I get it 😂
MoonJumpMania lul
I'd say Phantekstic, even
Phantetic use of space
Top Kek
I just got this case and finished my install in it. I used almost exactly the same components Kyle shows. I used more zipties on this case than I've ever used before. Kyle is a cable routing ninja. I have no idea how he got the USB 3.0 header cable to look that good. I highly recommend using the Corsair SF600 power supply as it's small size makes things much easier. I used Asus' GTX 1080 Strix to match all the rest of the RGB in the case. The video card just barely fits. I do NOT recommend using the Corsair H80i as the very stiff tubing made mounting the radiator almost impossible. The orientation and mounting Kyle shows is the ONLY way it will fit. The sides of the case are used for cable routing. Don't expect any airflow from the side fans even if you do have room for them. Mounting a mechanical drive was a real challenge. Especially because it eliminates a large chunk of cable routing space. This was probably my most challenging PC build in a stock case since I started building PCs over twenty years ago.
Update: Cooling in this case is a problem. One solution is to manually set the fan curves on the graphics card. The graphics card exhaust is the exhaust fan for the whole PC.
Update 2: Revision 3 is a custom EK water cooling loop. A single PE 120 radiator works great and keeps the temperatures under 60 degrees C even with a modest overclock.
Corsair H80i vs what should I use in mine?
Are the fans extremely close to the mobo with the Strix. Do you think you're getting enough airflow to the GPU?
Val Kolton I'm currently installing a EK custom loop using two 120mm radiators. You'll have to purchase a separate pump and reseviour as there isn't room for the combo unit.
Jimmy Liu GPU temps are very stable. The issue is the CUP and VRMs on the MB. I tried an air cooler, the Cooler Master Gemini, and it worked about as well as the H80i. The short of this is don't put an i7 in this case.
Thanks Aaron Schaffer. I actually already have an I7 with an H80i installed in the case. I'm currently running on board graphics since I was waiting to buy a 1080ti. Just to confirm, your ROG Strix card fit with the H80i V2. I was debating about the ASUS or the slimmer EVGA FTW3.
Kyle, your old home theater PC is better than my current gaming PC.
Patrik Radelj I have a job but I have to help family with bills amd I'm saving for college so I don't really have a chance to upgrade. I'm sorry if my comment rubbed you the wrong way that wasn't my intention sorry.
Patrik Radelj Not all jobs give enough to afford a super computer after taxes, bills, and children. Also, not everyone has all jobs available to them
Damn, that's a long, magnum co-, I mean, PC-case
You should check out the Shift X.
>says he is only gonna use it for web browsing and netflix
>puts a 1080ti in it
and a watercooled cpu :D
Remember when hearing “1080ti” was like hearing “2080ti”
Yep, it's impact to the mind is definitely lessened.
remember when hearing "2080ti" was like hearing "3090"
when hearing 2080 ti was liking hearing 3080
Remember when hearing "2080ti" was like hearing "3090"
I remember when hearing “2080 ti” was like hearing “3090”
1. How is dust build up after a month+ of usage?
2. How much of a hassle is it to clean the dust off once the system is built?
3. How does the inside look, dust wise? Are the filters doing their job or is dust getting in?
4. If you do another video, can you show the cables plugged in and address if there are potential height concerns for cables? DVI are pretty big.
Says computer is for light web browsing and streaming *puts a 1080 ti in it*
Kyle did say OVERKILL, on Purpose ^^
good point
I like Overkill myself
Gtx 1080 ti for web browsing
I can understand for the 1080Ti if he didn't have any spare cards but for a Home Theatre system? I would KILL for one and Kyle your just throwing one in to a PC that won't even game?! *flips table*
Snobbygnu not your money deal with it
It's Kyle's HTPC... So he can do what he want. And it is NOT his problem... If you are ASS-HURT over it.
Its actually almost comedical how everyone is taking it like I am mad. I'm not. You make valid points, its his money and his system, so he makes it the way he wants. I simply just don't agree with the GPU choice.
TheAronDark Why not reply to stupid comments instead of replying to those who are just giving an opinion on bad gpu choice.
KGC -Kyle`s Gaming Channel... You talk stupid comment... And then you write one you self. Nice job.
Can you please test it for GPU temperature with this EVGA card and FE card and maybe with EVGA Hybrid/MSI Seahawk if its fit? Thanks.
Where are temp graphs>?!
1080 Ti for a web browsing pc. Perfect
*bought an 144hz monitor*
*got an 144p instead*
Someone Else get better internet
This case reminds me of a modern version of the Silverstone Fortress FT03
I just want to thank you so much on this build. It made major compatibility issues resolved with my build and also save me some money for the parts I'm going to use. This is my first ever building a pc and I choose an ITX build. Wish me luck!!!
Gangster... Definitely looking at that case for my upgrade.
All that for Netflix? Buy a Chromecast
Michael Diaz fire stick
Michael Diaz
That plus the Videostream extension for Chrome browser on a dedicated media box (old hardware is just fine for that, too) means you can have any TV in the house streaming all of your local content if desired.
when his home theater pc is better than my gaming pc.
I'd say this build is PHANTEKic
Poor attempt at a joke tbh. Should've been Phantastic.
@11:56 The Phanteks logo looks like crap. It's actually a very thin plastic wrap thats on there, if you start scraping the edges with your nail, you can pull it off and it looks SO much better. (Just got my shift yesterday thanks to you!)
I have that problem too😐😑
Hey how do you use the io shield ports at the top of the case. Like the usb and audio ports. Can you use them with the top of the case shut
Beautiful build, it helped me build my dream PC. Absolutely love the design of the case, I've build an almost identical setup.
Here's an airflow tip if it helps anyone:
- There is the default PC case fan that is in exhaust fan on the front of the case (top)
- I added another fan under it (above the radiator) mounted vertically as well, also as an exhaust fan.
- Now you have the front as exhaust only, you can REMOVE THE MESH on the sides openings of the front as air is being pushed out so dust is not an issue here; this give so much more airflow and significantly cooled the PC.
I do have a question though, I've been seeing youtubers advise for the pump not to be above the radiator. I don't think it's possible to install it any other way on this case. Is it such an issue?
I've had my PC for two years now and no issues with the pump so far.
INTEGRATED GRAPHICS MUSTARD RACE
That's a sexy little build
Britec09 agreed
I just thought the same really sleek looking case and the Mobo looks magnificent.
*tHaTs WhAt ShE sAiD!!!!*
And the computer ain't bad either!!!!!
Inverted inscription "Dominator" - a hell for the perfectionist.
Upside, you can unbolt the cap and flip it over.
For the fan so close to the cables, I would go with a SP fan and a mesh fan grill. It's a bit of an expense, but once the metal cover is installed, it won't interfere with the cables _at all_ and aesthetically if you can find one in black it'll do.
I thought the PC he showed at the beginning was a power supply for a second there. I was thinking too my self "How the heck's he going to fit that into a Shift?" LOL
when their htpc has better specs then your main rig.
I feel the same pain bruh XD
when the home theater pc is better then your gaming pc
When the HTPC is way better then your main gaining rig...
whats a gaining rig?
not on the CPU side... I have a ryzen 7 1700. but on the GPU side I agree... Sad times
Thank you Bitwit! The ONLY review for Phanteks EVOLV Shift with a built! Much much appreciated.
1. Are the temperatures decent?
2. Is it noisy? (I guess due to cooling and the quality of the case it's pretty silent)
Thanks again & OFC SUBSCRIBED!
If you use third party sleeved cables I think this would look so much better. That been said, it looks really good, I think I fell in love with this case and rig
Pairs a 1080ti with a 7600k...
I'm out.
I drink water out of cups.
it works
Your point? What would you suggest instead?
Oh I don't know, for my "Dream HTPC" I'd probably have the 7700k as a minimum.
For a media PC, a g4560/ 1030 would be good for 4k... Unless I missed the part where he said he'd be playing games on this PC...
Do a pc build off between you and wifey sauce, of course you should have a handicap to even the odds with penalty for loser. I suggest the handicap be you build either one handed or you build into a small mini itx compared to wifeys full atx case
So if a 1080ti is a home theatre gpu for you what's gaming? Titan XP? Quadro?
NASA's supercomputer is his internet box. We mere mortals can't imagine his 1080p at low at 30fps gaming rig.
A quadro is no better than the equivalent geforce card with the same GPU. If a quadro has a gp 102 it will perform about the same as a titan card with the same chip. One thing the quadro has more of is VRAM. Buts that's about it.
i just use my previous gen gaming pc for my htpc, on my 3rd HTPC as of yesterday. Every 4 years,12 years running.
this will be my next build case iv been dying to build a mini ITX build this case just won me over
There are fucking 17 different comments stating they're first.
Except none of them are true, I am indeed, first.
No me!!
Maybe someday I, too, can "dig an M.2 out of an old PC."
Your previous htpc was superior for its intended role.
IDK who else but I see a fantastic Gaming PC right there, it has all it needs, I would like to have a list of the components please.
Newegg just shipped the Evolv Shift that I pre ordered. Should get it Tuesday. Can't wait to build in it.
Looks way better then Dimitry's built . Nice job . 1
For being honest I like dimistris better
@@robch.2901 me too
So why the Unlocked CPU??? No reason to get an unlocked version..
He did get the k version...
Why a 1080ti? because reasons...
Because manufacturers give him the hardware for free. Why *buy* hardware for a build when you can use the shit you got for free? Use your head.
Ah my neighbors are smoking weed again fun
Smoke alarm just went off I'm my house. Darn neighbors
You are your house?
*hits blunt* yeah dude
I love that Thermalright screwdriver. I have one too. It is very good and it's magnetic too.
Looks dope, but I would have mounted the H80's pump so that the logo was horizontal and removed and reoriented the tops for the Corsair DIMMs so that they were facing correctly since this isn't a temporary build. Sick case. Love Phanteks. Keep the awesomeness coming, Kyle!
it's kinda stupid how they put glass on it, the last thing you want when watching shows is a bunch of LEDs blinding you and ruining the experience...
Zecrid unless you get software so the leds go with your movies rather than disrupting them. sorta like the led lighting behind tvs that will enhance the experience
Not gonna work with a bunch of leds on the side or beneath in bizarre position. "Ambien light" should be at both sides/behind while being really soft, not in your face.
I don’t need anything too overkill. Just for Netflix and stuff.
Uses a 1080 ti
Me: rrrEeeee
Tbf, I dont even use netflix on my pc and I have an MSI Duke Geforce RTX 2070 OC in mine lmao.
@@TheGauges420 I mean that doesn’t say much cause you probably game on it
No Optical Drive of any kind? I mean I understand it is the 21st century, but it is an HTPC. The fact that you have a 1080TI but not even a blu-ray drive is just funny to me.
It can't fit one tho
It Could Barely fit a 1080TI. It can physically FIT a optical drive but there isn't a optical drive bay for one.
USB optical drives are a thing to use if you don't want that bulky box in there. Its also slim as well.
True, however if I was building a PC dedicated to entertainment, I would try to include one.
I didn't know about the RGB breathing and long press to turn it off! Awesome, tried it on my Phanteks Enthoo Evolv TG and does the same :) Thank you for that
"Because we can." The mantra of PC Enthusiasts the world over.
two years later, kyle's htpc is still better than my setup by FAR
Wow, it was looking pretty ugly during the actual build phase. But, a great builder can pull it together and turn out a nice final product. Indeed. Nice looking case, but seems like a b@tch to build in..
Cheers
Why does Kyle look like Tai Lopez?
here in my garage, just bought this uh, new 1080ti here in my HTPC...
KNOWLEDGE
Do you know what's better than a 1080ti?
*_KNOWLEDGE_*
I was actually really excited for this case when it was announced. From what I see now there are several issues with this case:
1. The PSU exhausts to the bottom of the case, right next to an intake fan;
2. Horrible cable management (there are a ton of itx cases that do it way better);
3. The PCI bracket can not swap, because the PCI ribbon is too short;
4. It's still huge for an itx case.
The only thing this case has going for itself is the looks, but really for a 100+ dollar/euro case I expected more out of this. I will stick to the node 202 for my next Ryzen mitx gaming build.
Man oh man Phanteks does not disappoint. Extremely happy with my White Luxe and can pretty much guarantee me getting another Phanteks case, possibly Shift, whenever I finally upgrade my specs.
Fuck that is looking good, almost jealous of this build!
why do we even need a GPU in HTPC?
Vaibhav Dighe because integrated graphics can't do 4K well, also you may want other video output
Ares5933 yeah got it.. But 1080ti is totally Overkill though
Vaibhav Dighe living room overkill console gaming
Living Room VR is a thing
DumbSloth87 still a 1070 or 1080 can handle it just fine
Home theatre pc with 1080ti? Thats drastic over kill mate.
This HTPC looks Phantastic indeed!...... Ba-dum-ch
I do not even want to imagine how many other times this has probably been done...
Currently building a pc. Going for more of a compact style for movability. Depending on the game it'll be on the desk or laying flat under the TV. Going to also be used for video editing for YT, my current PC can't handle it anymore. Here's the specs if any experts wanna give some advice so far.
Built in the Phanteks Evolv Shift case
i7 7700k cooled by Corsair H80i v2 120mm,
Asus ROG STRIX Z270i Gaming mini ITX,
Corsair Dominator Plat 32GB 3200mhz DDR4
250gb M.2 SSD and 3 TB Hybrid
Silverstone fully Mod 800W PSU
Corsair GTX1080 Ti 11GB Hydro Video card (120mm AIO)
(small case, why not watercool GPU as well)
Lemme know your thoughts please and thanks!
Temps, noise and airflow? How well Shift did handle those with that setup?
Probably not so good I expect. The graphics card can hardly get any fresh cool air being mounted as it is. A very wasteful build if you ask me
Airflow is surprisingly good considering how the interior is laid out. There are specific ways to optimize this case that can have a pretty profound impact on the temps of your hardware.
Bitwit could you tell me what gpu is good for 2 curved moniters
Chiron | who the fuck uses 2 4K curved monitors
Do you wanna game or just watch stuff?
Chiron if you really are driving 2 4k monitors, 1080ti, or at least 1080 sli, 1080ti Ali would be best or if you can afford sli of newest titans
Chiron it doesn't exist IF YOU WANT TO GAME ON THEM. If you don't want to game on them, Intel HD Graphics are enough.
Damir Productions actually there's not 4k
The best part is how his main gaming rig uses 980 ti's and his home theater PC has a 1080 ti. Logic is hard, I know Kyle.
lol
never seen another top IO case before my Silverstone Raven RV02, this looks amazing, i wanted for years to build a mini itx high quality build without all the bullshit they have nowdays, this looks amazing for a simple clean build for a top IO, NICE !
You should do a perfect pc vlog often as older processors and gpus get older. Is cool seeing the fastest or latest stuff but most people would probably wanna sit in the middle with a good pc set up. Not too good but not too bad.
fuck, your home theater PC is better than PCs of most of Steam users including mine!
22:00 totally not a wrench XD
Meanwhile I'm saving up for a 1070 for gaming :D
Looking at the design if the case. The video card conpartment is designed for blower type cards in mind.
Am I right in thinking that mounting the rad lower than the pump is a bad idea?
Thank you very much autofocus :))))
Better than Hardware Canucks
All im doing is light webbrowing and media consumtion...lets buy the best card on the market
Patrik Radelj 3rd
He reviews hardware, he probably literally had it just laying around. =P
looks: pretty great
functionality: ...
well, it is a designer case, mITX nonetheless. so of course you're not gonna get vast amounts of space or the world's best ventilation. but you did manage to cram all that stuff in there and the result still looks nice, at least on camera. i'm just gonna assume that's one reason why you chose the most bulky overkill components you had around, to prove that it still fits. so, props to Phanteks. seems pretty well thought out, especially at the price point.
however, there's one thing left, and that's peripherals. perhaps i'm missing something or underestimating the clearance in the top, but i have a hard time imagining how displays and other stuff are supposed to be connected without severe cable bending. just think of a Corsair keyboard's rigid cable and giant USB plug
Beautiful case. Seriously considering something similiar to this build for my next system.
it looks phan-tastic
surprised no sound card. is such a thing not required for home theater?
Are you from the 1990s?
hayden butler Nowadays most motherboards have integrated sound cards :)
hayden butler exactly what I was thinking. Sound cards on motherboards now are decent but compared to a high quality sound card from companies such as sound blaster they aren't even close.
I've got a sound blaster z in mine and I couldn't live without it now, everything sounds shit. And that's just a low quality £40 sound card.
He he could use an external sound card which can also be incredibly good as well.
For a home theatre PC I can't believe he isn't using one. Unless he just didn't show that part.
This motherboard has 8 channel audio so you dont even need one.
Were talking about HTPCs and this is a tech channel... I guarantee that he owns an AVR home theatre system, in which case all he needs to do is connect the two devices using either a HDMI or optical cable and bam! you have audio output far superior to any pc sound card.
my computer itself is worth less than the cooler ;(
Really cool case design by Phanteks to display the graphics card on the back.
Nice build.. But are you going to show the software side of the htpc build? Perhaps how to setup for DVR capabilities, cable card installation with a proper on screen guide....
I envy your status in the pc gaming/inthuseist community. TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!.
*enthusiast
Be rich.
He knows how to spell enthusiast
I'm quite the grammar nazi
Looks Phantastik xD
Didn't you mean Phantestik? xD
phan-tastic
sorry
Pun tastic
I just build one same case as yours, and it took me 1 whole night to fit everything on it.. nice case for sure..
Hey bitwit, fancy doing a quick video. I'd like to see the shift, shiftx and a tower size comparison.looking at the old to new case. The shift looks huge in comparison.
