Get Alan Belkin‘s book on that list, and if you’re feeling CRAZY, Schillinger’s theory of composition. Get lost in it for a while and work your way back out to the real world, but it’s great stuff.
Do you like Alan Belkin's book about music composition? There's also books with practical aspects that I absolutely love but it's not everyone's cup of tea
I think that's a bit short-sighted, there are excellent compositions to be find and discovered even on YT. Simply because there are more people trying to become composers doesn't mean there aren't any good ones amongst them or at least good composition of them.
It's because for over 100 years now - technique is second to current trends, as well as personal taste and style... beauty isn't necessarily exciting... times have changed.

Great I'll probably post an extra link/comment with suggestions of this comment section! Thank you ❤️
Very interesting, thank you, Timon.
I thought berlioz's treatise one orchestration would be on here. Probably better to have a more updated work on here though lol
Twentieth Century Harmony lijkt me wel interessant ook voor niet klassiek.

I do not know that one! I see he has some online courses on YT as well :)
These books are quoted over and over again, and the composers get worse every year. Something is wrong
