- Epic Thunderstorm In July 2014. The UK experienced widespread thunderstorm activity. This particular storm was very large and lasted 3 hours and at its peak was lighting up the sky nearly every second. The Footage was taken from the Isles of Scilly. This video shows the build up and best bits of the storm. Storm Peak is at 6:15

Living in America I have seen my share of lightning strikes. This was awesome to say the least. Love the part at the end with the hand extending out.
Fantastic! Can't beat elevated storms for lightning! 5hrs worth here last Thurs/Friday in Norfolk, best series of storms for 20yrs :D

Hello from North Wales 👍🏼 great video. I experienced a similar storm in Sidmouth, Devon back in 2004 with similar incredible cloud to cloud lightning too. It rolled in from France and radar had recorded over 50,000 strikes between midnight and 6am from Cornwall to Dorset. The south coast seems to get better storms than further north. We did have quite a long lived and loud storm in August here in Wrexham... Got a video somewhere. I lived in the States when I was young and remember some epic storms and a close call with an F3 tornado near the town. Keep the storm videos coming!
That thunder and the highlight strike when you hear that kind of thunder it is positive lightning

Nice footage of an exciting storm, we only had distant rumbles.. Some were from the storm as it passed over the Surrey Downs and we could see and hear it in Buckinghamshire! I even went out at 3am for an hour to see if I could capture some closer action but it died! So no storm on camera for me... yet... Thanks for the great light show!
Thanks - great footage! What a stonking thunderstorm. You were crazy being outside - think you should buy a lottery ticket!! We were caught up Ben Hope during a thunderstorm and learnt that there's no safe shelter outside - mother nature sure is awsome.

We got hit in Penzance around 4.30am on the Sunday morning, 1 flash than an almighty bang. It wasn't a rumble of thunder it was a bang! It was so loud! Genuinely thought it had hit something or there was a collision it was that loud. I am petrified of storms but this is a great video!

Excellent video. Although the storms in Ireland (where I am) were not nearly as severe as in Britain, I recall an almost Mediterranean level of dark murkiness and humidity around 17th July. The air was thick and heavy, constant rumbles of thunder and spots of rain..
I think you witnessed anvil lightning at the first half of your video. Lightning that originates from the "anvil" cloud part of the thunderstorm if there are sufficient charges. It's rare for the bolts to reach the ground, but don't ever trust it!
We had an exceptionally violent storm on July 19th in Yorkshire. The sky turned black at teatime and the thunder was rolling and echoing weirdly.

For other videos, I wonder if you could film as you would normally, but then add a filter when adding night footage to you tube, so relieving us of the stark contrast, without losing definition.

Penny Collins this week on the 1/7/15 there will be a lot of anvil crawlers and a chance of supercell thunderstorms in the uk for the rest of the week with so much lightning and a chance of tornadoes to pop up and there might be a huge EF5 here around the uk same for moore,oklahoma theres a same effect for oklahoma this week all around britain and the United States where they have the same british weather so britain will have a bad storm and watch out for tornadoes

Amazing storm. Are those storms common in the U.K.? I'm going in July and I would like to see an English storm haha! Where I live (Uruguay) we have even stronger storms with more lightning strikes which are great to see.

I'll never see anything like this in California. The weather sucks, it's always 100+ here and it'll rain like twice a year. If I see a thunderstorm it's usually on RUclips. Smh
