I always get a little teary at the bravery of horses--prey animals who know they have to worry about change, but follow you off a dark trailer into a strange, dark place, into an unfamiliar stable. It's real proof of their trust in you! 🙂

If you get one of the stable mats and lay it over the metal bar going into the stables you will find the horses won't possibly trip on it and you will be able to wheel the barrow over it easily ❤❤❤ So exciting seeing you guys bring your ponies home - I know exactly how it feels and honestly is THE BEST feeling ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love that you've finally got the boys home. Good plan with Katie producing Panda, I think that's a great idea and knowing when they need someone with a bit more experience for part of the training shows how much you guys care. Will be wonderful when all 4 boys can be home but it's definitely for the best now especially until your arena is built. Can't wait to see the barn when it's completed and when the house is completely sorted to your liking. The school skirt/wellies combo took me back to being a trainee groom/riding instructor, when the girls would come to the yard straight from school.
Been here since the start Harlow. You are a true inspiration for all riders, young or old. Your riding is beautiful! You honestly help me so much with my confidence. You show the real side to owning horses, the tough bits, the fun bits, the sad bits and the muddy bits. Popcorn, Rolo, Panda and Cloudy are amazing and they are so lucky to have you as their owner. Watching you grow as a rider and improve from not being able to sit a canter to jumping over 1m is such a treat. I wish you all the best for the coming year!
I have four at home, and as it is a settled herd they are all in together, 3 geldings and a mare and we have never had any kick injuries, as long as they have room they will be fine and be much happier to be able to groom etc. I show hacks and riding horses so need blemish free horses too!!!
Always good to hear about horses living in a herd, as they should! 👏🏻 I’m so surprised they still aren’t turned out together. Only in extreme cases a horse would benefit from not having any physical contact with other horses.. These guys obviously like and accept each other and will sort everything out themself.

No better feeling! Yes to a paddock paradise / track system, some good examples in the uk or online etc - surface-wise, you could use those mud control mats when the temporary stables are finished - they work great on track systems along with stone 🙌🏻

Your description of panda jumping is exactly how my connie started. He would be pulling me into the fence until 3 strides out and then it would all collapse. It’s taken probably 2 years to really crack it - mostly by just building a really strong connection and bond and building his flatwork. Now he is just fabulous. Hard work is worth it!

Your description of panda jumping is exactly how my connie started. He would be pulling me into the fence until 3 strides out and then it would all collapse. It’s taken probably 2 years to really crack it - mostly by just building a really strong connection and bond and building his flatwork. Now he is just fabulous. Hard work is worth it!
