Interesting and sad state of unused rail spurs. Almost impossible to see the track with trees, bushes and garbage. Hard to believe this industrial area actually relied on railroads for commerce "back in the day" almost a century ago. Thank you for taking us along today. Till next time Roly.

I started using Historic Aerials after you mentioned it once, and now it's an invaluable tool. Great gift idea too to give ppl a framed print-out of their land or a place special to them. I've done then and now projects with it, and that appeal of change through the ages is why I like your channel.

This is very interesting. When I lived in New Jersey a friend and me were walking around in South Jersey and I came across abandoned railroad tracks. I could barely see them because there was so much leaves bushes and trees. I don't remember where it was now but it was a thrill to find this. I did not have a camera or cell phone at the time or I could have taken a picture. Oh well. Have a nice day Roly😊

@@railrol82 I'm here to help! You've shown me so many interesting rail video's and even had some from my old neighborhoods (Volusia County, FL and Cook County/Chicago, IL). I believe there are still some old rails here in Citrus County behind the Wallaces at the Greenhouse, 2420 S Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, FL 34448-1839. Suncoast Blvd. is aka: Routes 19 & 98. I think that the railroad went to the Yulee Sugar Mill very long ago. I'd love to see that! I love the Withlacoochee trail, a trail is better than to have the old rail right of way(s) end up a garbage dump! These old rail trail appear to be well maintained, there are even shelters for shade/rest/picnic etc. along the route. At least these trails are preserving the history of the old railway routes. Keep up the good work!

This is an interesting location. Am I correct in saying that the middle track is the "main industrial spur" in the area? The two tracks on either side of this "main industrial spur" would be the spurs to the buildings in the industrial park. It is very obvious that none of these tracks havae been used in decades based on the size of the trees between the tracks and along the sides of the tracks. Based on what you have shown us here, it would take a lot money to re-build these tracks for use by current engines and cars. CSX would have to be assured of years of railroad usage by local industries to warrant the expense to rebuild these tracks. Thank you for finding this location and bringing it to our attention!

Talk about squeezing some tracks in there. Im surprised the companies haven't sealed up more of the loading docks. I'd guess some of those sidings were also used as tail tracks. Since you worked industrial switching this is the type of place you always had to watch side clearances lest you be crushed or sideswipe another car.. One can't help but notice the number of trucks sitting in the street. Florida has that traffic imbalance with much inbound but little outbound but nonetheless there is freight to be hauled out there. Life in the brush. Thanks for the tour!

I've always found it fascinating that rail lines that have been installed still remain intact for close to 100 years. If it wasn't for the telltale evidence of rust on top of the rails you'd think they were used just last Tuesday. And the plaint might be Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) but don't quote me on it.

You are correct Railrol! NAFTA was a horrendous deal! Both the elephants and the donkeys were complicit in the gouging of the economy! Companies actually started outsourcing before the nafta monstrosity, all the way back in the 70s. If American industries and businesses were cherished and protected then the economy would have grown and these spurs would be in use today. Many branch lines and secondary lines would still be here today, including the FEC Florida City line. In addition, the S line wouldn’t be abandoned. NAFTA just greatly accelerated the elimination of us businesses to China, Mexico, and other places. Hopefully the TPP that Obama tried to push through won’t happen under Biden. This would put industries in Vietnam and the rest of indochina, with even lower labor costs than China, up to half the cost, which would decimate what is left of us business! You can imagine the vast profits gotten by the 1% and the miles of additional ripped up tracks this would incur! As a rail lover, this is beyond horrendous! Highway and trail lovers would feel like they are in heaven! Environmentalists for some reason hate rail, but should defend it instead. The pollution from the added use of highways will be horrendous as well as the added maintenance necessary for said highways. This brings even more pollution. Environmentalists should be combating the trail lovers and highway lobbyists. All this generates more pollution which they say they are against but in practice they really favor. They are hypocrites of the highest order! Let them prove me wrong! I would love to debate them! They can’t defend their positions! I am sorry for the rant, but it is beyond frustrating!
