I tried many ways, watched many many tutorials and I was about giving up finding a successful way until I watched this video! I am grateful for this video, helped a lot.
If you can't put anything in the folder do this: 1. CTRL(command on mac)+ALT+T to open terminal 2. Do those commands: sudo -s (also enter your password), apt-get update, apt-get install -y build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r), apt-get install virtualbox-guest-utils, adduser &(whoami) vboxsf 3. restart ubuntu 4. now you can add files, directories and acces file from host EDIT: if this doesn't work enter another command: sudo adduser YourName(put your name instead of the YourName) vboxsf
@@JapaDuh Hi I did everything you suggested ant while it did solve my problem of not being able to see the shared folder now when I try accessing its contents it tells me I do not have the permissions necessary. What should I do now?
@@JapaDuh hi! Today I booted the VM up and it randomly worked... Guess it just needed another restart. Thank you for the instructions they really helped me!
But what about doing the "reverse?" Installing Windows, in a virtualbox on linux and the setting up shared folders there between them. How do you do that?
No Folders to be found. I have never been able to see my Shared Folder in the Network Folder. Your directions are clear, but obviously there are some steps left out.
If you can't see your shared folder try: Devices -> upgrade guest additions.. (might take a while) and then: Devices -> Insert guest etc. Should work after those.
It doesn't worked me, i don't know why it doesn' want to work adding user doesn't exist the group? Wtf? How now i can move files into Vbox machine? I think i have no choice to use USB.
yes but Virtualbox is not only for Windows ! i use Virtualbox in UBUNTU and i can't see how to share a folder between Ubuntu (Host) in Virtualbox is Windows 10 . again , i use Ubuntu. i want to install windows Virtualbox in Ubuntu and share folder between ! HOW???
Works! Thank you sir! The step of adding myself to the "vboxsf" group was the clincher. I suppose that's documented somewhere, but I never found it (probably looking in the wrong places...). Had some issues with sudo, but got that sorted out. Thanks again! cheers, jt BTW, Love your wallpaper. Where's that ski area? Looks familiar...
