Mayday really said it best. Everything the clones did just to be treated like disposal tools for an empire that wouldn’t even exist without them. I love the character journey Crosshair has went through. He went from blindly following orders and always putting the mission first to doing everything he could to try and save Mayday and in the end shoot the superior that led to his death.
Whoa this episode made Crosshair finally snap and realize that he is just another disposable trooper in the Empire that was so satisfying to see him shoot Lieutenant Nolan 10/10
When Crosshair was carrying Mayday back to base, all I could think was, don't let him die. Mayday didn't deserve a death like that, especially after losing all of his squad and being basically ledt to rot on that outpost.
R.i.p. mayday, hexx, and veetch. Also i never thought i would see crosshair reach his breaking point.Speaking of crosshair he went from being a man who couldn't care less about regular clones, to someone who learned to care about his common brethren especially mayday.I'm glad he gained a new friend that completely woke him to the truth about the empire.
This episode is what I was hoping we’d see more of in season 2. Not boring treasure hunts😂. I really hope they bring back the 3-4 episode arcs from the clone wars because the boring self contained side quest episodes are the only thing holding this show back from being amazing imo
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t mind a couple stand alone episodes but this entire season has been stand alone. The episodes aren’t bad but waiting week to week for them is a waste of time
It's moments like these that, I have no doubt, made at least some clones secretly miss their Jedi Generals. On a side note, I like how the animation acknowledges that clones age at an accelerated rate. The surviving clones definitely are starting to look older now.
Crosshair actually loses his helmet in the Avalanche. Very symbolic of him as it symbolises him shedding his imperial beliefs and showing his true vulnerability and care for his dying brother.
as soon as the LT said his first sentence, i immediately went “crosshair please kill him”. I also loved when Mayday kept correcting the Lieutenant. “It’s Commander” “Yes, Lieutenant”
I think in the future that we see Dr. Hamlock might use Crosshair as a bait to lure the rest of Bad Batch to rescue Crosshair, there by bringing Omega with them. Out from last episode that we saw, then it isnt a far fetch. I dont know if Hamlock knows where Omega is. But I think he might quickly find out
You overlooked something very crucial that many overlooked. When the ships arrived it would’ve been procedure to search for the survivors arriving much earlier at Mayday, easy saving him. Nolan sent them on an impossible mission hoping they would die. This Leads to believe that all officers in the empire have a similar agenda.. get rid of as many you can.. and those who fight back probably get a even worse fate in a lab…
If word of what you said got out at large, all clones would probably desert en masse. I would think the clones as a whole pose a far greater threat to the Empire than the Rebel cells, including Saw Gererra's faction.
I wasn’t expecting the bad batch to take this direction with crosshair . Do you think they could possibly try to make him into a phase zero dark trooper? 🤔
Hope not, that would be over the top cruel, super nightmarish & such a turnoff. He's already paid the price with his service to the empire. Enough torture already.
Probably my favorite episode so far! R.I.P Mayday. o7 Crosshair is one of my favorite clones, so it was nice to see him get some more character development (more than he already had). hopefully we get more of these episodes (rather than treasure hunts)
I hope for the next episode we either get one focused on Echo and Rex, or we get a conclusion to this where the Bad Batch somehow find out about Crosshair and decide to go rescue him, there Rex, Echo, and ody join up with the Bad Batch for the mission. They eventually save him and he rejoins them.
When Crosshair carried Mayday after the avalanche my first thought was just Crosshair saying "You're not dead weight yet". It was absolutely beautiful to imagine and I hope we'll see more of Crosshair. He singlehandedly showed us everything that's wrong with the Empire that makes even the loyalest of soldiers break.
One thing that I found interesting is that neither Mayday nor Crosshair call Nolan “sir” but rather refer to his rank as lieutenant. It’s subtle but I think it’s a very important detail
Most likely Crosshair is being taken to Mount Tantis to be added on with a number of experiments that dude scientist has in mind in order to clone Palpatine. With Lama Su practically throwing Omega under the bus to give the Empire the leverage they need to control Nala Se, in exchange for his freedom. I have no doubt that when they do capture Omega, Crosshair will likely have a role to play into rescuing her.
I didn't realize until seeing the stills you show during this video, but I find it to be an interesting little tidbit that the crates carrying TK Stormtrooper armor are marked with Republic emblem. I'm *fairly* certain the Empire has used their new, well known, Imperial Cog already during Bad Batch (though I could be misremembering). If I'm right, that implies this is either an oversight, or that the Republic was creating and storing TK kits before the transition and the end of the war. If that's the case, it could mean that the TK armor was intitially intended to be Phase 3 Clone Trooper armor, or to be just another indicator of Palpatine putting certain plans into motion well before the Republic's fall.
Palpatine was orchestrating the end of the war before it even began. The Separatists could have easily outgunned the clone army and held back, almost toying with them. They were outgunned 100 to 1 in some instances yet the Republic still won so many battles? And suddenly the Separatist leaders capitulated at the end? And all of the Republic loyalists that loved democracy turned into oppressive haters? NO, much was put in place well before the fall. There is a scene where one of the characters tells Palpatine the end of the war is nigh and he is like, good, just as planned. I think this armor was meant for new troopers well before the fall of the Republic and Separatists. In this war, everyone lost, but the clones most of all and the innocent.
The whole time when Crosshair and Mayday had finally made it back to base, and Mayday passed, I was saying, “Shoot him! Shoot him!” I can’t tell y’all the joy I felt when Crosshair shot him.
"Crosshair was nothing more than a wooden Minecraft tool, good for the basics until it broke or what is used for fuel for his replacements" Geez that's way too accurate
If Disney has taught me anything, it's that any character(s) that have positive development and/or additional screen time are to make the viewer more attached to said character(s), only to then have them be killed for shock value. Tech has the same level of concern for me, and I don't think it's a coincidence: they both process their emotions differently than anyone else but still accept each other as brothers. The season finale is going to hurt BIG TIME.
You know, I realize it may sounds far-fetched, but I believe that Crosshair stayed in the Empire so he could save MayDay. Otherwise, I believe MayDay would end up dead somewhere deep under the snow, alone. But in the end, after all sacrifices and hardships, he may have not given his life in fight for "the cause" of government who used him, but he died in the arms of the Brother who cared for him and likewise. And Crosshair has finally "opened his eyes" to the evils he thought to be right. MayDay, rest in peace. 😢
Loved this episode, giving crosshair more emotion than we normally see I am hinestly very worried that he will end up in the Dark Trooper program as a prototype Dark Trooper
What really bugs me is the 'sub human' treatment of the clones by Nolan goes even further. Mayday is a commander. Nolan is a Lieutenant. Technically he outranks Nolan. The way the old republic had it set up, there was a corps, with a general (jedi) and a Clone corps commander (XO) then there were 16 commanders within the corps. A corps was made up of 36,000+ clones. meaning each commander had responsibility of 2000 some odd clones (roughly) Comparing to IRL - this means Mayday was potentially in command of a REGIMENTAL size unit. Looking at what the Imperial military did, Lieutenant was directly brought from Clone Lieutenant. Meaning, Nolan was ONLY rated for a Platoon size (less than 40) command. But because of the social standing of Nolan and the... well... inhuman treatment of the clones - it's clear that it's not just Nolan that thinks that clones are worthless. We see the complete injustice of how the clones are treated in an episode prior where they're shown to basically not even be considered citizens as they don't have any representation.
Mayday is perhaps one the best clones in SW. If only he survived so we could see him more. He's like many clones show that clones are more human and respected then the Stormtroopers.
Fell in love with Commander a Mayday pretty quickly. Was so sad to see him die. RIP. So glad Crosshair finally sees the truth. Despite his faithful dedication to the Empire, he means nothing to them. A number. An asset. An expendable. I hope he survives Mt Tantiss unscathed. Maybe Nala Se will help him escape?
God this episode was awesome the atmosphere and music used throughout it and the end credits was heartbreaking, the revelation for Crosshair finally waking up to the truth that the empire he’s loyal to is a complete farce and nothing like the Republic the clones gave their lives to protect. Him looking up at the ice vulture and Mayday’s comment about the creatures ”you have to admire their will and ability to survive in a impossibly extreme environment.” Pretty much describes the clones existence born to fight a war in insurmountably difficult conditions. Honestly Crosshair’s reaction reminded me of Mayfeld’s in the Mandalorian who also gunned down his former commander for bragging about sacrificing his men for the greater empire’s. Overall probably my favorite episode this season it really hit the feels hopefully he can reunite with his brothers soon.
This episode really really resonated with me deeply in a personal level. As a medically retired army , I kinda understand CrossHair and the clone troopers' perspective. You feel like a broken tool only to be disposed of. It sucks and hurts after sacrificing so much. I'm grateful for my other brothers in arms I had around me. I know this is just a show, but sometimes it really effects me as a veteran.
I think that's the whole point of the theme of the Clone Troopers under the Empire. They're meant to highlight to the extreme the struggles faced by Veterans after their service is no longer needed. We already treat fellow human beings so poorly, so it gets even worse when the soldiers were bred to expendable from the moment they were born and weren't meant to serve any other purpose than slave warriors. The fact that it resonates so much with you means they hit the nail on the head in their writing. A good story is meant to make us "feel" the theme and message they're trying to convey.
*Thank You for YOUR service. I am a diehard CW, Tales of the Jedi & Batchers fan.* There's just something very special about our Clones. And I completely understand when you say it really effects you, I am a life long SW fan & our beloved characters whether they have a heartbeat or are animated, we have an emotional interest or bond, if you will, we are wholly invested in our characters. They are like extended family or a friend. I mean c'mon, George calls *all his characters his Children* so.. (Who are *your most loved* top 5 Clones?)
Seeing this character development following Echo leaving Bad Batch, I really hope they can bring Crosshair back into the fold. Especially now that Omega isn't her plucky, S1 self I feel like they might even be able to bond a little over their worldviews being shattered.
There's a reason our Batchers still have Crosshair's gear. And I have felt the same friend, that with Echo having left a void, Cross can slide right in there.
I think the batch will end up on a mission to the cloning facility where crosshair is being held, and while going through prisoners, maybe trying to find a captured omega? Or one of rex's buddies they read ct-9904 on a cell and kinda go holy shit why is our old sniper being held in a cell?
The death of Mayday was sad, but really intriguing to see how it affected Crosshair. The death of the imperial officer, was… satisfying. And that’s coming from a person who prefers imperials over rebels, though not over clones.
This episode was so freaking awesome!! The character development for Crosshair, the way he cared for Mayday and when they huddled for warmth… it was such an amazing episode!! I was so happy Crossy finally made friend.. but then he lost his friend :(
Im rewatching the clone wars and it’s heartbreaking knowing that at the end of it all order 66 ends it. It’s like knowing there’s a bomb in the room, with an hour on the timer left, it can’t be defused so your left watching episode after episode seeing second after second tick away until order 66.
I like the naming/significance/symbolic meaning of Mayday. Mayday is traditionally used as distress call for help. Hence, very fitting for their situation of neglect they were in for years. Also, it is a sort of last “Mayday” for the clones themselves. They’ve been holding on as much as they can but as seen in this episode, the TK’s have all but phased them out completely. The last of the clones are pretty much gone, despite any Mayday or plea for help. A clone rebellion has been heavily hinted at, and now I think Crosshair cracking is the final nail in the coffin, with even one of the strongest willed (pro Empire) finally cracking like the other clones. Crosshair is symbolically the final straw/clone that shows at this point even the strongest willed clones are realizing what the Empire really is. Overall really sad episode and Im really excited for the future. RIP Commander Mayday, Veech, Hex, and the other un-named clones of the outpost. You wont be forgotten.
Perfect comment friend. And yes, I came away from this episode kind of depressed. I am just extremely concerned for Crosshair's well being. Those evil scientists. Hopefully he will only be the bait that draws our Batchers to that facility, in order to break him out & perhaps Omega since they are now actively searching for her. Damn Lama Su. Can't trust Kaminoans. Nala Se is just as evil. Remember Tup/Fives arc, people!
They’re going to reprogram him like the unknown clone and send him after Omega. They’ve almost broadcasted that. The trick is how they end it. I see a tragic end for Crosshair.
Hunter warned him but he was too egotistical to listen, and with Rampart not using him anymore he is now nothing. They will want to clone him for his skills and indoctrinate his offspring. Before that happens I predict that Omega will be captured and they will meet at Mt. Tantus. The 99's with Rex and Echo will show up and pandemonium will follow.
I feel like crosshair is gonna forcibly be put in the mark 1 dark troopers the ones that were half machine half unwilling soldier controlled by the empire
The zillo beast episode and this one tie in. The BB sent the data to Echo and Rex. It’s possible another clone on Tantiss contacts Rex for him and says there’s another clone who needs help, or the armor project and Crosshair will be made into something. It would be amazing to Rex, Echo, Gregor, Cody, and company launch a raid on Tantiss and get the BB to help. It could be either Crosshair or even Hunter who sacrifices himself for the clones. IDK why, but for some reason Hunter sacrificing himself makes sense. Crosshair has to reconcile what he has done while serving the empire and his brothers risking everything to save him. Crosshair has that attitude in the episode with Cody, but this episode was completely different. He didn’t give Mayday any attitude(you’re lucky I was available, try and keep up). He is changing and it would be fantastic to see an enlightened Crosshair communicating with a more mature Omega. It would be similar to Tech and her evolving their relationship.
Man just the inclusion of the vulture, the shots that just show it flying over, representing death and being left behind, just this little touch of care for this one episode shows me this is better then any of the sequels
I like what you said about officers who bought their positions and were the worst to be stuck with. Reminded me a lot of Admiral Ozzel who, as Vader said; "He's as clumsy as he is stupid."
Has anyone noticed the symbolism that comes with Crosshair's helmet. You see him being the only one wearing it on the Batch's return to Kamino, all the others have their helmets off, foreshadowing Crosshair's descent. He still keeps it on later when trying to convince the Batch to rejoin the Empire in the Season 1 finale but now in Season 2, when he snaps, he has his helmet off, finally ready to look upon the Empire for what it really is with his own eyes. I so very hope he reunites with his brothers and work on reconciling with them. Wrecker probably has the most bad blood with Crosshair and it would be amazing for those two to hash it out in a survival type episode. However, I've a sinking feeling Crosshair will suffer a gruesome fate in the Season 2 finale at the hands of the Dark Trooper program along with Howzer and other unfortunate dissident clones (hint hint, bring back Slick, the original bad boy).
The second the Lieutenant said “I don’t like working with used equipment” and Crosshair flicked his toothpick a lil too hard I KNEW he wasn’t coming back from that mission lol. Love Crosshairs redemption arc. Probably the best one I’ve watched

Im SO glad crosshair found a clone he could connect with again, and SO glad he finally had enough of a disconnect to realize that those clones that defected, like Howzer, like Cody, like his brothers in the Bad Batch, werent the ones who had committed treason. It was the Imperial Officers the whole time…
If i remember correctly, the only persons he killed weren't clones so i think he always cared about them in a way
Mayday really said it best. Everything the clones did just to be treated like disposal tools for an empire that wouldn’t even exist without them.
Hunter tried to warn Crosshair that he would just be another statistic to them. But it’s too late now: he may be on his way to becoming a Dark Trooper. A fate worse than death.
Why is dark trooper fate worse than death?
What is a dark trooper
@@jasonfang4879 Phase Zero Dark Troopers (at least the type made from Clone Troopers) is a cyborg more machine than man, effectively not different from a droid aside from the fact they are conscious and can't do anything against it.
@@jasonfang4879 because most of the clones used in that program had many of their limbs and organs replaced against their will. Some lobotomized to follow orders without question. In legends some even took their own lives when they realized what they became.
@@firerocklaser6819 an experimental combat trooper in near indestructible armor. The first and second phase were suits that often involved the person inside undergoing brutal augmentation. The third iteration, according to Dr Pershing from the mandalorian show, removed the concept of it being a suit and turned them into killing droids.
Can we all agree Crosshair centered episodes go hard I actually almost cried watching this episode
Yes friend. Depressing as hell. I am *very worried* about Crosshair. And yet another fallen Clone, our Mayday, can't take much more of it..
Good soldiers follow orders, but Great soldiers know when to disobey them.
I really hope they use that as a line in the show
This was such an amazing episode! Seeing Crosshair finally be human, much like Mayday and the other clones, was just perfect. And now that he finally snapped, I just hope he survives and can reunite with the rest of the Bad Batch and they all can be together as a full squad once again.
You comment made me wonder: "How many clones snapped like Crosshair and joined Saw Gererra's faction?"
Episode 3,7,8,11, and 12 have been the best episodes this season
The arc with tech and omega on that red planet was also good imo
@@Ellie-nm5hc I agree. It was nice seeing Omega bond with a different member of the bad batch.
Gunji ep was good as well
Totally agree 5/12 episodes were actually good
@Ellie no it wasn't it was filler
It’s ironic that the best episodes this season haven’t been about the main group of the bad batch
Exactly this show bores the absolute hell outta me but when Crosshair has an episode I enjoy tf out of it
I loved how they set this up I knew after Cody, crosshair would be forced to work for the reg imperial officer and that finally after seeing the empire don’t care about him or regs I just hope they won’t kill crosshair off the batch need him back
He made his first and last impression, commander mayday is the perfect reason why the clones are heroes, its a shame what happened to him, he reminded me a little of rex which made it hit even harder. Rip commander, you served with honour!
I thought he was Wolfe at first
@@maxtombs361 yeah I get what you mean, he has the same kind of gruff but playful attitude like wolff did, man such a talented voice actor to make literal clones so unique in small ways
This one tears at the heart. He truly is becoming the tragic figure in this story. I just hope he doesn't get another chip implanted and is sent after the batch.
I bet he's gonna become a Dark Trooper
Didn't it, hurts for sure. And nah that would be over the top redundant, plus we had that all last season. He will not hunt his brothers again, no way. Depressing & gut wrenching with the end scene. I hope the storywriters don't ruin my Crosshair. Love my boy, always have.
Honestly, so far episode 5 was the only episode I disliked. The rest is either good or amazing.
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t mind a couple stand alone episodes but this entire season has been stand alone. The episodes aren’t bad but waiting week to week for them is a waste of time
@@gavinbeard40261 and 2, 7 and 8
@@file_boi020 bro 7/12 of the episodes were filler trash
@@scoutst3r 4/12, actually. And at least two of those four involved character building
It's moments like these that, I have no doubt, made at least some clones secretly miss their Jedi Generals.
On a side note, I like how the animation acknowledges that clones age at an accelerated rate. The surviving clones definitely are starting to look older now.
RIP mayday didn’t even last 25 minutes 😢
Crosshair actually loses his helmet in the Avalanche. Very symbolic of him as it symbolises him shedding his imperial beliefs and showing his true vulnerability and care for his dying brother.
Damn, great observation
as soon as the LT said his first sentence, i immediately went “crosshair please kill him”. I also loved when Mayday kept correcting the Lieutenant. “It’s Commander” “Yes, Lieutenant”
I could imagine Mayday addressing Nolan as "Lieutenant Shiny".
But I think he might quickly find out
Stop killing cool clones 🥲
You overlooked something very crucial that many overlooked. When the ships arrived it would’ve been procedure to search for the survivors arriving much earlier at Mayday, easy saving him. Nolan sent them on an impossible mission hoping they would die. This
Leads to believe that all officers in the empire have a similar agenda.. get rid of as many you can.. and those who fight back probably get a even worse fate in a lab…
Seeing Mayday died like that. Was heartbreaking to see. He reminds me of Rex. He was a good soldier that deserved better treatment than the Empire.
Dam , cross hair was truly broken this episode . Great character development .
Probably my favorite episode so far!
R.I.P Mayday. o7
Crosshair is one of my favorite clones, so it was nice to see him get some more character development (more than he already had). hopefully we get more of these episodes (rather than treasure hunts)
That pissy LT gotten what was coming to him.
One thing that I found interesting is that neither Mayday nor Crosshair call Nolan “sir” but rather refer to his rank as lieutenant. It’s subtle but I think it’s a very important detail
This episode felt like a mirror of the Rebels episode where Kallus and Zeb are stuck on a frozen moon of Geonosis that pushes Kallus to the Rebellion.
That was a great episode too
W commander
I'm glad crosshair has finally seen what the empire truly is (to him anyway) but a bigger question is will the bad batch allow him back
In a heartbeat, friend. I would bet credits on that for sure.
I loved the end.. I was hoping crosshair would do what he did
The whole time when Crosshair and Mayday had finally made it back to base, and Mayday passed, I was saying, “Shoot him! Shoot him!”
I can’t tell y’all the joy I felt when Crosshair shot him.
*PEW!* Good Riddance Sleemo..
"Crosshair was nothing more than a wooden Minecraft tool, good for the basics until it broke or what is used for fuel for his replacements"
Geez that's way too accurate
If Disney has taught me anything, it's that any character(s) that have positive development and/or additional screen time are to make the viewer more attached to said character(s), only to then have them be killed for shock value. Tech has the same level of concern for me, and I don't think it's a coincidence: they both process their emotions differently than anyone else but still accept each other as brothers. The season finale is going to hurt BIG TIME.
But this is SW, not simply a disney series. Just sayin' is all.
Loved this episode, giving crosshair more emotion than we normally see
I am hinestly very worried that he will end up in the Dark Trooper program as a prototype Dark Trooper
A corps was made up of 36,000+ clones. meaning each commander had responsibility of 2000 some odd clones (roughly)
Comparing to IRL - this means Mayday was potentially in command of a REGIMENTAL size unit.
It's really too bad we had to wait two months for another Crosshair episode, would've much rather seen this sooner than another fetch quest from Cid.
Mayday is perhaps one the best clones in SW. If only he survived so we could see him more. He's like many clones show that clones are more human and respected then the Stormtroopers.
They really reel us back in with fantastic episodes like this, all the other less interesting episodes are hereby forgiven
Hope so too 😰😱🥺😣😔🤞🙏!
Thank you truly for your service.
Thank you for sharing your story. That’s what makes Star Wars special: Connections and lessons we see in our own lives.
Service connected disabled. The loneliness, pain and rejection, the abandonment and disillusionment is INSANE.
22 a day.
Shouldn't be that way.
Love ur content this was such a great episode Crosshair is so good

More Character Development than the whole of the Sequel Characters combined
this is honestly my favorite episode out of all the star wars tv shows, not just the bad batch
Wowzer Howzer!
This episode was so freaking awesome!! The character development for Crosshair, the way he cared for Mayday and when they huddled for warmth… it was such an amazing episode!! I was so happy Crossy finally made friend.. but then he lost his friend :(
I feel for Crosshair so much. We saw him break. He lives and breaths Empire and they just showed him the truth.
I just hope we eventually find out what happened to my boy Howzer.
Seeing Crosshair carrying Mayday back is so sad and it hurts
I like what you said about officers who bought their positions and were the worst to be stuck with. Reminded me a lot of Admiral Ozzel who, as Vader said; "He's as clumsy as he is stupid."
I laughed so hard after hearing the wooden minecraft tool comparison for some reason😂
Commander Mayday was awesome
I think right now anyway that I like Bad Batch more than the Mandolorian.
Here I thought Crosshair didn't like the REGs. He did say they didn't matter and even went along with Kamino's destruction.
I love how the tk troopers even think its kind of strange that they arent allowed to help mayday and crosshair. When its clear they need aid
Knew it was only a matter of time before even Crosshair showed there's a heart under that armor.
I’m getting some serious Mutiny on the Bounty vibes from this episode
I actually cried during this episode, didnt expect that
Has anyone noticed the symbolism that comes with Crosshair's helmet.
Probably the best one I’ve watched
hahaha Yes the toothpick flick, indeed.
Nolan was just asking to be killed, even his own stormtroopers HESITATED for a second when he told them to get back to work and not help out an exhausted and severely injured MayDay and Crosshairs, their ‘allies’ ; If Crosshair wasn’t going to do it someone else was soon
The part when Crosshair hugs him in the storm made me cry.
First one!!
Love your videos man
