Polymaker is hosting a 3D Printed Hook Tournament.
We invited the 3D printing community to show off their engineering skills and design the strongest hook!
During this single-elimination tournament, hooks are facing each other in a tensile strength contest until one of them breaks or let go. From the qualifiers to the final, only one will survive! However, the top 3 hooks will be rewarded with prizes.

EDIT:
2:10 Winner: DJP
7:33 Participants are : Fra-Hex (Bottom) vs DogSoxx (Top) -> Winner: Fra-Hex
3:26 The orange hook “Lukas” was seriously damage and couldn’t stand another battle.
3:00
The top hook is supposed to be Ojo design limited but has been confused with another hook.
The real battle Ojo design limited VS Snake71 was recorded again in the below link -> Winner: Ojo design limited

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Oh, 10:00 we couldn't believe that. Finally, thick rounded participants getting destroyed. Impressive :)
Yeah, that was surprising. It's a bit frustrating that some designs were allowed but that was a clean win.
@@JJFX- We look at this competition as a big success only because it is the first of its kind. Even if there are some questionable designs. But apparently, even questionable designs may lose :)
Why do a lot of the fight start with one hook already destrodied/out of focus/out of frame? Why only 720p? Just use a smartphone on a trypod and you'll get much better results! (and the editing part... let one camera do the job without jumping point of view)
I think they are pre loading to keep the hooks from dangling but going overboard before they start recording 🙁
agree
@@NotWorkingAtAll they could just record the preload procedure... And if yoy notice (for example at 5:38) many battlez start at the right moment and then jumpcut to another camera not showing the failing part... Just upload uncut if you have to cut the important parts...
What's wrong with your camera? The image is terrible
not only are there still no maximum force measurements, but also the resolution of the recordings is quite low 😭
but anyway, good luck to all the survivors :D
I totally didn't see the Slinky outcome coming.
Me neither, liked the idea though. Maybe it failed due to structural buckling.
I originally objected to Slinky since I couldn't think how to print it without support material or post processing which is against the rules. However the design is sub optimal. Since it is effectively a thin plate wrapped in a spiral, loaded on its edge, the compressive forces of the hook pulling are focused on the edge of the plate which increases localised stress. The other spirals do not have this issue because the compressive stresses are loaded across more of the material, although the inner spirals have more compressive load from the spirals outside of them, it's still generally better.
Also the stresses probably were not evenly distributed across along the spiral with Slinky, so when one part failed it was a domino effect (the technical term is catastrophic failure). Armour Australia is a similar design I think (still have no idea how that was printed).
there is a mistake. On DJ P vs Joe Dalton's Hook. The winner was DJ P, The spiral hook.
2:10
Damnit Henry!!
Glad someone pointed that out - I thought it looked like my hook won, especially if you slow it down a bit. Maybe they just mixed the name up?
Yeah, I imagine they must be pretty busy with so many hooks ^^'
3:26 ... looks like the looser was the metal S hook ... ❗
In some (loosing hooks /) cases it looks like the hooks was not made from PolyMax PLA ... looks ...
Wow you might be wright... the metal hook looks bended at the lower hook (for both lower hooks)...
yeah I won one
You show 2 with "protokit vs urrulernow" that aren't the same hooks around the 7:15 mark
On the last one the winner was a different name
There’s another mistake. At 3:03 between OJO Design Limited VS Snake71. The winner was the bottom hook, SNAKE71.
4:42 did my hook just explode? Cool haha
it gave a good fight
0:47 That doesn't appear to be my hook, Dan Porter.
It looks like Plashmashear's 9:12
12:54 Gg melchior you won , too bad for me 🤯
@ the 2:10 mark, did the top hook win? Is that Dalton's Hook?
Good catch, the top hook seems to have won so they probably mixed the names up.
Rip pincers
@@6moon.s Really?
It was a fun outside the box design. Looked cool too 😁
