- Holy upgrade on this one! This recording was SUPER dark, but using Resolve I was able to bring it pretty much all the way back to normal. WOW. There also was a ton of crud and compression in the picture which I removed with Topaz Video AI. See the incredible before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/F4sXrXAO3B -- My thanks to Fort Knox and his Seahawks RUclips channel -- www.youtube.com/@fortknox4740... -- for providing the DVD files for this project.
That 80s NBA theme music of CBS still gives me goosebumps!
Man, listening to that classic opening music score years after I last heard it brought back so many good memories!
Yes
Sharp post! The great theme music of all-time..
Me too. Loved it as a kid.
Agreed!!!!
Love these classic 80’s games. Great childhood memories. Please keep ‘em coming
As a kid NOTHING and I meeeeeean NOTHING was sweeter to my ears than the sound of this intro on Sunday afternoons
Amazing! You are easily one of my favorite subscriptions on RUclips. Seriously.
Mine too!!
David, thank you for your exceptional efforts to enhance this. I am 23 years old again watching this game again. It is amazing to watch and reminisce. Dr. J, Larry Bird and a young Charles Barkley. Thank you, again!
great upload, love those 80s celtics-sixers match ups!
As a 61 yo Laker, Ram and Elway fan. I LOVE your channel.
I believe that this was Dr. J's last season playing.
It was.

You know, since Fort Knox has a large number of Seahawks games, I may wonder if he has any Supersonics games from way back when. I grew up a Sonics fan and was pretty ticked when they moved to Oklahoma City.
I'm actually working on a trade with Fort Knox right now for over 150 NBA games :)
@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 fantastic, great channel, great news about getting the 150 NBA games, any from early 80's, also, see if he has any baseball, maybe mariner games from the early 80's, they're rare
That's excellent! I love vintage NBA, especially Celtics games.
@@garyrochussen3430are you a collector,I too love the 80's Celtics games,do u have any
Ah, this is great stuff! This channel has without question the best, most consistent content on this entire platform! Easily my favorite!
Thanks for all of your work snd more importantly, for sharing it with the rest of us! God Bless You!
Wow. Seems like yesterday. . . Andrew Toney was a beast prior to the foot injuries. Hubie Brown often said he had best 1st step in league. And Barkley moving like he did. The motion by all the players rather than guys standing behind 3 pt line i miss those days
This upload is incredible sir, it really took be back in time for a couple of hours, the good old nba days, thank you and please keep up the great work 💯
These 80’s NBA uploads are incredible!!! If you have any 80’s Mavericks games that would be awesome. Thanks again for all of these great memories. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Backstory of this video was that for one this was Dr. J's last season before his well-deserved retirement from basketball. Boston was grieving the loss of their draft pick Len Bias due to a drug overdose (cocaine) as they were cultivating their playoff spots.
Who knew then that both teams were on their way down?
Len Bias died 10 months prior to this game, before the season even started
Love how all the uniforms looks soo much better. Shoes & socks match, unlike today's NBA.
Definitely. Plus just one home and one road uniform for each team, in their actual team colors. Plus each team had their own unique warmups. And no advertising on the uniforms!
Agree 100%. Send this up to the commisioner! Today's uniforms make them look like they're in a circus.@@3243_
....awww, how I miss those days!!😢 👏☝️😁
This is what the NBA on television should be about.
Thank you for all the videos you convert and upload
This music gives me the chills. Happy times. Sixers baby
Wow, what a game. The intensity of these teams isn’t anything that’s ever seen today.
As Charles Barkley and Greg Kite would show in this game.
and also a lack of physical condition, shooting technique and skills, tactical poverty, which you also won’t see today.
We aint done wit the 80s!
'80s NBA is way better than today.
...And never will be!
Amazing. This guy deserves donations
Thanks for the upload. Beautiful Game!
The enhancement remastering is SUPERB! Great work!
9:41 In 1987, the NBA record for team 3 pointers in a game was 10. If only we could go back to this brand of basketball again.
Make the game suitable for the big men again.
i litterally can't watch the nba anymore product with the constant 3 ball is a boring watch.
I only watch these vintage games these days. Modern NBA is pathetic compared to this.
Another Classic Upload 🏀🔥💯
Unseld was a beast...
Charles Barkley was awesome!!!
I love this channel ! Its like going back in time!!
Please do more enhanced Celtics games (I would love to see Game 7 ECF vs Detroit again and Game 7 vs Milwaukee both in 1987)
They were playing team ball back then, they wasn't shooting a whole lot of 3s pointers back then either. Love Classis old school NBA basketball.
The Intro to the NBA on CBS in the 80s and the theme music to the NBA on NBC in the 90s was the best. I remember the high intensity back then.
💪🏼 Sir Charles 🫡 Thanks so much for sharing 🙌🏼
I just realized there are some brief video freezes present in this game, as well as some audio drop-outs.
Thank you for the NBA posts too.
Great clear video 👍🏽
The Celtics' first substitution at about 20:20 of the video was a prime illustration of their problems that season. Instead of Bill Walton coming off the bench, instead they had Greg Kite. That spoke volumes of their lack of depth. Not the best of all worlds when their starters were largely 30 or over and were forced to play the lion's share of the minutes. This team was still good, but they didn't have that aura about them anymore; teams didn't fear them, particularly on the road, where the Celtics struggled mightily throughout the second half of the season. This game was a perfect example of Boston's inability to put teams away when playing on the road.
Even though they Celtics would manage to slug their way through the Eastern Conference playoffs and reach the Finals for a fourth straight year, this was clearly a dynasty on its way down.
Agreed and like the old saying all good things must come to a end
Love the channel and the clarity of the finished product youtube should consider your style to clear all the old or blurry video ! Reliving history clearly Thanks !
Good to see the crooked leg.
A rare Larry Bird bad shot selection. Great game thanks!
thanks barkley still pretty raw here too many mistkes but fun to watch.
The Competitive nature of 20th century NBA! Loved it of watching TEAMS of their players having serious match ups from every player on the floor. Scrubs were forced to play above their standards and they excelled of enjoying watching scrubs go far and beyond to win the match up of the player they took on.
0:25 - I hated Bird as much as any self-respecting Lakers fan, and I _always_ rooted for Dr. J and the Sixers against the Celtics, but throwing -haymakers- right crosses at a guy while he's in a headlock administered by one of your teammates is bush league and gutless. If this had happened in the NHL, the price Julius Erving would have paid would have been severe and deserved.
Those are not haymakers. They're right crosses.
@@bubufubu Thanks for that, Angelo Dundee! 🤣
Hey, details matter. Noted & corrected above.
It was cheap shots.. he even admitted it later on..
Another nice job
Bird shooting 80+ % from the 3 point line. Goat shooter lol
Thank you for the down loads ! My love for the current NBA 3pt yawn fest is fading quickly and is in the throes of a nauseating death.
Agreed!
Was hoping to hear one of my favorites in Dave Zinkoff doing the intros
Bird and McHale had good games, but the rest of the Celtics didn’t show up for this one
Wow!
could you please put up some more enhanced NBA games?
Maybe MJ and the Bulls. Great work and please keep it up!
Damn, talking about changing the game! Damn Charles. They quickly go down 5 in it without him, Celtics don't score again, and Sixers win.
@1:58:34 - Announcer: That's what happens when you have your forward taking it the length of the court. I always believe you pay the guard to handle the ball..."
This guy would be shocked to hear that 7'0" and 7'4" centers are bringing the ball down court in today's NBA.
Roy Hinson was a Sixer killer at Cleveland, when he got to the Sixers,he was a BUST!
Vibes of the game..Old rules on jump shots were always contested and scoring off jump shots was timing of having that space to score so those points off jumpers never came easy of finding that right moment for jumper. NEW RULES of NBA on jump shots, guys stand around of waiting for a Zone mis coverage or passing the ball around until the spot they picked is open . This gets boring and only reason why players today scoring more. Its boring thru out game of today's rules.
Another outstanding job! Any chance of upgrading any of the original USFL games?
LETS GO SIXERS
Don't ever say Charles Barkley couldn't play DEFENSE! He shut down one of the most clutch players in the final seconds in Larry Bird!!!
Bird two season's into his bad back issues. Next year will be the doozy though
I think I went to this game.
Yesssssirrrrr
1:16:54 possibly the first Charles Barkley guarantee in history
Classic
The Coreatates Spectrum
25:30 All-time Point Man moment.
And NO EJECTIONS.
❤😢🎉🏀
Why is Vern calling Billy Bill?
Any Michael Jordan games from the late 80s and early 90s?
Walton was injured?! Oh, no way…🤔😅
1:25:34
Very rare for Vern Lundquist to do NBA games.
I think he began doing more of them after Frank Glieber passed away in 1985. Glieber's last CBS broadcast was Game 1 between the Blazers and Lakers in the '85 West Semis. Glieber was to call Game 4 of that series in Portland but his death kept that from happening, and Verne took his place.
@@waynestell2808 interesting info. Did not know any of that. Thanks for sharing.
Vern was a great announcer but he wasn't a basketball expert and this was on display during this game.
He did laker games
Two years in a row the Sixers beat the Celtics in a close game at the spectrum and then they lose in the playoffs to the bucks to deny the Celtics revenge
Barkley was always a punk. Pulled same nonsense while on the the Dream Team.
i like barkley, but he should've of been not only ejected, but fined $25,000 AND suspended for at least 10 games for his actions in this one. but instead, he was awarded free throws. just proves the refs in this game were garbage. thank you for giving us these great videos and for all your hard work 👍
But they were using 1987 rules that day.
He was and is nasty..
Weak ass last shot by Bird. Should have let Jerry take it.
This video quality is NOT turr'ble.
Sixers have a terrible line-up here
Love the intro. Everyone throwing punches!
