Kira was always an amazing character, she was very strong and held tight to her beliefs but could be funny and gentle. Her Mirror Universe version was always a fun character to see as well. DS9 really had some of the best characters in the entire franchise.

I still loved Nana Visitor’s quote in a Star Trek magazine about her mirror universe episodes and she was said the following, “I love this episode, I kissed every guy on that episode.”
(And if the episode called for it, she probably would had been okay with kissing the mirror universe Jennifer)

I love how incredibly nuanced she was written and portrayed. She kicked ass. She laughed. She loved. She wept. She was bad at art. She was religious and personally conservative (much to the frustration and teasing of her best friend Jadzia Dax). She was *REAL* in a way that very few characters outside of DS9 are. DS9 is truly the best Trek writing. EVERY character had so much depth and it feels like we don’t get that from most shows much less most Star Trek shows

I wasn’t sure about the character, because so many times women with trauma and violence in their pasts are portrayed as one-dimensional “angry, defensive, man-hating bitch” tropes. I loved how Kira was written and performed. She was a beacon on TV, especially in sci fi for me and her arc was amazingly satisfying.

One of the things I've always admired about Nana Visitor is her commitment to maintaining the integrity of the character of Kira, and not turning her into a self insert. For example, when asked in an early interview if we'd ever see Kira dancing, as Nana is herself a dancer, she said that while she'd love to, she felt Kira had two left feet, so no, Kira wasn't going to be involved in any dance numbers.

One in particular always stands out, Kira is teling Odo about some of her insecurities about their relationship, namely her being a solid. I always hoped she WAS a Cardassian. From a story/character perspective that was akin to Bashir suddenly being revealed as a genetically modified human. It opens so many story telling doors. It's like when Felicity Smoak in "Arrow" becomes wheelchair bound, only for the writers to comic book her out of the chair... I was kind of disappointed. Not because I need a disabled person in a show, but because it robbed us of the story telling opportunity of seeing a character grapple with disability over their lifetime. A few episodes doesn't cut it. In our universe, once you're disabled there isn't some Tony Stark tech there to undo it. You have to evolve and grow with that disability apart of you. (Not equating Kira as a Cardassian as a disability, but just examining character arcs with potential tossed aside to get back to the norm)

The Japanese name order is given name, then family name.
It is the Chinese and Koreans who use the opposite order, family > given. That’s the order used by the Bajorans.

Still pissed off that Picard stole DS9’s storyline, and completely shafted the entire cast well even voyagers people got cameos. There were so many things they could’ve corrected that they got wrong in the final DS9 season and they just completely blew the whole cast off absolute bullshit.

What happened to the actress in the last two seasons/ She suddenly got VERY skinny. Looked like maybe health issues. Anyway, loved her character. I wish DS9 would have dealt with something other than the dominion.

considering the number of men she develops romantic relationships with in the series, probably.
