I had been waiting for this, so glad to see your review. Apart from the tyres and lack of beadlocks, it's a great model. Beautifully filmed throughout 👌
How happy I was when I saw that there was a new Matteo video! This vehicle looks very well designed - I love the epicyclic gearbox and the portal axles. I like the body too, and agree that the hard plastic grille, mirrors, door handles and snorkel really do make a difference to the realism of its looks. The rest of the realism is pure Matteo magic, just like the trail videos : )
Great video Matteo, as always! Excellent idea on demonstrating how a portal works for those who don’t know. That kit is almost worth buying just for the body!
What a lovely little crawler this is. I recently bought their CMX chassi kit, I want to fit Tamiya's Jeep Wrangler body on it. I also bought the magnets to spare the body any drilling.
Matteo, my old Friend!! Sorry I haven't been able to post the comments enough. I've got catching up to do.... This Rig is AMAZING! I've always loved the MST CFX-W!! 👍👍 I won't be able to afford this Kit either.... But OMG I really want one. 😫 I hate the position I'm in. I would never put down a Kit like this, just because of Wheels and Tires. I like it! Love the Body, as it is not like everything else. As always, outstanding Review! Carmine 🚂🚙
That thing is sick, gonna scoop one up just to have another available portal axel crawler on hand. Nice review brother. Just right and not to much as to be boring.👍
I bought the original version of CFX-W in 2017, thank god MST finally changed the wheelbase from original 300 to 313, and replaced the poor thin 70mm damper(which is too small for a 1:8 chassis) to new 80mm aluminium damper. With this nice looking wrangler body, the CFX-W chassis could hopefully arouse more interest of RC fans. But......if only these changes could come earlier.
Unfortunately the MST CFX-W chassis has been discontinued. However, if you still want this chassis, than you must get this truck MST JP1 . MST called this truck a 1/8 scale truck. It is not . It is a 313mm wheel base. This is a very common size for most R/C cars and trucks. I have the MST CFX Bronco (242mm) and like how it drives. Check out MSTs web site for more information. Also MSTs web site is not very good. I hope this helps.
Very well made video Sir! I recently discovered your channel and I'm very glad I did. I will follow your videos. I'd also like to say that your command of English is very good, well done.
don't know price point but MST did a great job. I think $275-325 over in U.S for what the trx4 makes it's very competitively. Only problem is aftermarket parts
Nice vid. I agree on avalibilty of MST parts in Europe. I have more problems getting original Axial parts than I have getting MST parts. In the Netherlands and in Germany a lot of hobby shops have MST parts.
Only two issues I have had with my CFX/W.. 1. Chassis Mounted Servo options are lacking, Dinky RC is the only one I have seen and getting my hands on one has been pretty difficult. 2. The front cvd's are prone to break and only MST makes them. Other than these issues, the chassis is great, especially the reduction gear box. Wide High Mass Wheels and some smartly placed chassis weights and the CFX/W platform is a contender for dominance in the portal axled arena.
That looks great Matteo! How do you create the black lines around the doors and other small black details? Is there a special marker pen you can buy for this?
Thanks Dave. There are two techniques. The first is to use a fine permanent marker. This works fine when the body have good notches to guide the pen. The second is to use a self adhesive black film, cuttet in fine lines and apply it to the body. this works better when the body don't have good notches. For this body I used the second method. 👍👍😊
Hello Matteo! Nice video again 😎 I am going to buy a crawler, which one is the "best" for first crawler, MST, Tamiya CR-01,FTX Outback 2 or SCX10 II? Ofc there's also Red Cat..
you forgot the Gmade :).. but the choice is personal I guess. Depends on your budget and future upgrades you want to do. So far I see the Axial has the most upgrade parts available. Personally I have the MST CMX (C10) and the Gmade GS-02 but liking the Gmade (Kit) more than the MST (RTR). (maybe cause I had to build the Gmade as this is more fun)
Thanks! Yes, depends what you want. Do you want to build it or RTR? Do you like more scale realism or performance? Something between are these scale crawlers like gmade bom, CFX-W or axial SCX-10, also Traxxas TRX-4 sport is good but only RTR.
Another great video. Could you tell us what cameras you use and what kind of rig do you use to get those great low down moving shots. Thanks, keep the great videos coming.
Frohes neues Jahr! Sehr schönes Modell und, wie immer, ein klasse Video. Fährst du in einem Flussbett oder wieso gibt es so viel Sand in deiner Heimat? 😊

What a nice video My friend I apologized my ignorance but this crawler can it be purchased already built ? I’m a little clumsy to do it myself but I wish I can go ahead and purchase it Thank you x a great video excellent
This is a disadvantage of the portals. There is no place to install smaller wheels because of the portal gear housing. Also 1.9 beadlooks are problematic, cause of the bigger inner ring on the wheels.

hi, I have a question why do some rc crawlers remove the o ring of their shocks?
They use it without oil, so there is no damping function. But for faster driving the trucks bounces around very strong...
Why the specification tells about a gear ratio between 1:36 to 1:56 ?
It seems not to have two gears (like TRX-4)...
No it have only one gear. But the gear ratio can be changed by installing different size pinion gears.
