Full Disclosure: This is sponsored content! 🙌 Thanks to Yadea for supplying the scooter. I've been riding this for a few weeks now. It's a great option for getting around town or commuting when you're just too lazy to take the bike. And I think at the early bird price of $699 is a good deal!
How safe is buying through indigogo? Like it sounds like a startup.. If stores had some lockable clamp that would go around the head tube...
@@calvincrane They claim to have 4000 distributors, and 40,000 retailers. First listed in HK in May 2016. So not a startup. Other scooter companies use Indiegogo for product launches too. Lastly they claim that shipping is already under way. So... it's no different from any other Indiegogo transaction - not guaranteed but in this case, it seems safer than most.
@@Ozpeter Thank you peter.
Looks fun and we'll designed!
Great video, thanks for risking your life to post it! Locking it up shouldn't be hard - pass a cable lock or padded chain round the pipe that joins the front of the footplate, and if too lose, wind it round as necessary. Then attach to a post. I don't think it would be easy or even possible to wiggle the heavy scooter out of the chain.
Deff a great bike
I need one, is it suitable for 5 year olds
Get one for your hairdresser...
Ideal if you don't want the five year old to live until they are 6! Definitely an adults only device.
More importantly, how easy is it to derestrict? I've yet to see a private electric scooter here in Warsaw capped at 25km/h..... ;)
Haha... I'm also curious 😎
The manufacturer seems to emphasise legality, safety and comfort more than speed. So any derestriction would be very much a third party hack, with fingers crossed that it doesn't kill it altogether.
Hey !
Not directly related with this video but is pandapodium still in project for april ? 😁
Yes! Coming sooooo
I'm not even seeing this available on their website
About the under $900 price, will that be the retail price of this scooter or is that a very vague estimate of the current indiegogo Early bird price?
MSRP $1499, "Super Early Bird" is $699.
Thanks for the great review! I'd never heard of this brand, so it was very informative.
You mentioned problems locking the scooter because there was no place to pass a chain (or cable) through it...? Dude, with a scooter this valuable, you shouldn't use anything less than a solid U-lock anyway, which easily goes around the handlebar stem. ;?) Cheers!
👋 , is it possible to unlock speed limit?

top speed so low seems to be a problem, hopefully there's a hack they built into it using the controls... otherwise interesting, this first beta batch hopefully QC was done properly
If only people wouldn't take things that don't belong to them. This would be a great thing to have for trips to the store.
It seems no more hard to lock than any other scooter - pass a chain or cable round the frame so that it's too tight to wiggle the heavy scooter out. Also it's got built in immobilisation and I think, some kind of alarm too.
Can you mod it with 700c wheels?
That's a good question. It would be like a monster truck of scooters....
Just research lock and buy a good enough one. I've had my scooter for about 1 year, and placed it on many public locations, and I still have it, and it's the best in my country, so you would think people would be after it. You can even get an insurance from certain lock companies that cover most of the scooter if it still gets stolen. But overall I would advise you to only place it for shorter periods of time (with the best lock) and fold it, so it's hiding among bicycles, and if you KNOW the place you're going have a lot of thief's nearby, don't put it there, but another place instead.
Sports Utility Vehicle, it’s just like my Durango. very off road capable and Cargo room for all the kids stuff
Is that city Xian, Joe? It looks very nice.
Xiamen! Beautiful place
@@ChinaCycling Oh yes, thanks. I read, "Many Europeans and Japanese lived on Gulangyu, today a vehicle-free island with beaches and meandering streets lined with old colonial villas." That sounds truly idyllic, so long as bikes are allowed. It's too bad that Google Street View isn't available, although I did see some photos.
1:44 WAIT *Don’t tell me the stem doesn’t lock into the deck! Bbbbrrrr that’s dumb.*
It does lock! I just didn't do it properly. My bad!
Can you override the mph?
I've not found a way yet.
Weight of the scooter?
61.7lbs, 28kg - which is what you'd expect for this class of scooter.
Road KOMs incoming! 🤣
We have KOMs littered with motorcycles in the Philippines. It’s a waste of time KOM hunting. All of it are fakes.
Thats not fun :(
looks like a good replacement to my Xiaomi M365
What happened to the Xiaomi? Or just want a change?
I'm thinking the same thing myself - but I am in Australia, and I do wonder about spares (esp. tires) and so on. This has the advantage of better hill climbing and suspension, and bigger wheels. I don't want to go faster, I want to go safer! Oh, and it's got indicators - hand signals on any scooter are a bit tricky.
After owning a high quality scooter for about 1 year now, I would NEVER even consider buying another scooter that doesn't have 2 drum brakes. Disc brakes suck.. And you will all see what I mean if you buy this scooter. If you use it ever day multiple times a day, then it needs replacing after 2-3 months. Drum brake is more like 1 year. In the end I just gave up on my disc brake because after fixing it, it took 1-2 weeks for it to die again.. My drum break still works, but is obviously getting worse and worse. And it could use a replacement for sure.
You all need to remember as well, that this scooter is illegal in the EU, because the rules/laws are that you're not supposed to be able to drive more than 25 KMH, NOT that you're just driving legal speeds. This is not a car where your vehicle is allowed to be able to drive way faster than the speed limits. With scooters they are not allowed to be even able to drive more than the speed limit. And if you ride an illegal scooter and if gets found out (unlikely but still) the can confiscate it and you lost all that money.
And assuming you wanna drive illegally anyway, there's better options than this scooter.
And in USA, once again, better options than this scooter. BUT, for early bird price and if you live in USA, hmm.. If you wanna buy something cheap, this MIGHT be okay, altough I would probably buy a cheaper one that also have duel suspension and other good features, if I wanted to cheap out on a vehicle like this. But I recommend checking Apollo scooters if you're serious about scooters, simple for 2x drum breaks, and water proofing and suspension and so on.
Cool info. As a cyclist or a car guy, we have the background that we think disc brakes are better than drum brakes - so it's good to hear your experience. Also, if you buy this in the EU the speed is limited to 25kph.
@@ChinaCycling okay, it's it's got a limiter on that prevents it from ever being able to drive faster than 25 kmh then sure, it's legal in EU. There's some countries in EU that only allow 20 kmh though which people also need to take note of.
And yea, they disc brakes are stronger/more poweeful at breaking for sure, but since even just 1 drum brake is perfectly fine for breaking, 2 would be amazing, and the quality of the drum brakes probably matter as well.
But while the disc brake is more powerful it's also not worth it, because of how fast it breaks on a scooter :/
This is something that the "Apollo city 2022" earned from talking to scooter riders, where most other companies for some reason never learned.
have disc brakes on my 2003 mtb bike, work like a charm haven't changed disks or pads in probably 5000 km, - they are shimano mid range not cheap crap, but still... sounds weird, drum brakes should last forever. Going through brakes that fast, must be burning a hole through tires in a week
@@soneeeee4440 The tires are just fine for now after 1 year, but the back tire does lose air in 4-5 days where the front tire holds it for a few weeks :p Regardless i'm aware that disc breaks are good on other vehicles just not e scooters I would say :) And I only drive 36 kmh
Mm lolo lo l
WTF would you put a drum brake on anything these days?? I mean discs are so cheap they're even on supermarket bikes.
Because the regen does most of the braking, the drum is just to stop the last few km/hr when regen cuts out.

I requested a refund on this project after reading a devastating review on their official store. Of course they already removed it, but I took a screen shot. Please contact me for more details. Warn others.
