Your right , but i think is something of family , probably Is that JD grandfather teach that to His son , and other generation of dean did the same thing with there kids.
At 1:45 you can see how traumatized JD is from seeing his mother die in the explosion. His father either doesn't see or doesn't care what he does to his son by showing this tape. Maybe if his father took care of JD after the death of his mother and not constantly moving because of his deconstruction company, things would have turned out differently.
Jana Wagener he isn't traumatized, JD was getting an idea, remember he put the bomb in the boiler room to set off thermals in the gym? He did exactly what his father did.
+Sydney Grace yeah, I got this view after I wrote this comment. The way the camera moved made me feel like that but now I realize he really was just planning how to end everything
Passive aggressive way of saying "Why aren't you introducing me to your girlfriend?" and "Why aren't you inviting my girlfriend to stay for dinner?" x))
I never understood their interaction I thought JD's dad had a few screws loose but as I'm rewatching it I think it's their coping mechanism since they both lost JD's mom and had to get closer and didn't know how to do that so they opted to tell each other what they want or need from each other by using this passive-aggressive way of talking Also I think JD partly blames his dad for his mom's death the way he brings it up in front of him is strange
Rachelle I'm not sure about the movie, but in the musical, JD's mom hates the demolition work so much she goes into one of the buildings just before it blows up.
Nicole Barajas yeah she walked into the building and. im not sure if it's demolition work because JD learns from his dad and his dad just laughs at how he kills people so I think he's just crazy
He's a deconstruction worker who loves his job a little too much. And from what I've gathered, JD's dad didn't purposefully kill the mom, she walked into one of the buildings they were about to blow up on purpose to make a point to the dad
mcclamac 000 it's to passive aggressively talk to eachother, like instead of papa Dean asking Jason "who's your girlfriend who you haven't introduced me too?!" He just says it really passive aggressively
Hah oof my family does the same thing, it is passive aggressive. Imagine you get home and don’t say hi to ur dad/mom/bro/ whoever and they say “oh gee hi there I missed you! How was your day?” in ur voice
I kinda like J.D's dad's personality,to a point. There are times when his dad's personality is a bad influence, such as with J.D's mom, and times when the personality helps J.D,such as dealing with the 2 bull jocks in the cafeteria. J.D.'s dad personality represents the"I don't care about getting even with some people who do me wrong attitude" "Get them before they get me,if they chose to provoke me."
His father treated Jason's mother like a forbidden subject and/or an off-limits topic of conversation, and Jason didn't give it much thought on whether or not he "liked" him? WOW! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I can only wonder whether or not at the end of the movie his father committed suicide the same way his son did after learning about it!
Veronica Sawyer: What is your damage, Heather? J.D.: The extreme always seems to make an impression. Veronica Sawyer: Suicide gave Heather depth, Kurt a soul, and Ram a brain. I don't know what it's given me, but I have no control over myself when I'm with J.D. Are we going to prom or to hell? Veronica's Mom: When teenagers complain that they want to be treated like human beings, it's usually because they are being treated like human beings. Veronica Sawyer: I just killed my best friend. J.D.: And your worst enemy. Veronica Sawyer: Same difference. J.D.: Greetings and salutations... you a Heather? Veronica Sawyer: No, I'm a Veronica... Sawyer. Heather Duke: I prayed for the death of Heather Chandler many times and I felt bad everytime I did it but I kept doing it anyway. Now I know you understood everything. Praise Jesus, Hallelujah. Beep me gently with a chainsaw 🙃
Im just here because I was flipping through the channels and there was an old movie on TCM called the Glenn Miller Story and it instantly reminded of this scene with JD and his fucked up father.
people are being confuse with the way they talk to each other.... what....hes dad is funny lol... back in the day most teenagers call people even older than them "son"
Wow i would say i feel sorry for Jason Dean that he was not properly taken care of by his father losing his mother was a big loss. If only the father looked after his son properly then none of this would have never happened to Jason Dean like that.
My mom committed suicide my dad didn't take care of me properly I haven't murdered anybody or planned to blow up schools, seriously people need to stop taking movies as real life. It's a dark satire/black comedy ffs
@@en2p187I remember when I misunderstood Joker when it first came out then I found out why incels like that movie. It’s very overrated, even worse sigma males also like it including American psychoZ
Apparently some people think the building demolished at 1:33 is "the library in Texas" and this is a video his dad made of blowing up the library with JD's mother in it. That's.... wrong. The building at 1:33 is the "fleabag hotel" he refers to at 0:15 that "a tribe of withered old bitches" are suing to prevent him from demolishing. (It even says "HOTEL" on it.) That's who he says the judge tells to "slurp shit and die". (The judge assuredly never said those words, he's paraphrasing to reflect his own feelings about it.)
I wish there were more fathers in movies that talked like JD's dad, lol. His father is entertaining, amusing and funny. I would also like to know the father's real name so I could see his other movies he played in.
ok then I mean the fact he is just rude and clearly not right in the head to be showing his son him blowing up a building and he just seams one of the factors jd is the way he is
Ugh, JD's dad is the *true* villain of the story! He's the monster behind the monster. Poor JD, he never stood a chance...
Your right , but i think is something of family , probably Is that JD grandfather teach that to His son , and other generation of dean did the same thing with there kids.
JD's father doesn't exactly excuse JD's own actions, which go above and beyond the kind of demented things his father would do.
Manuel Mateo still, if it wasnt for him teaching these ways he wouldn’t think about BLOWING UP THE GODDAMN SCHOOL
Do you know where I can watch the full movie for free? I have been trying to find it for ages.
@@lanamedvidovic7074 have you tried 123movies or putlocker?
“Do you like your father?”
“I’ve never given the matter much thought.”
I love his respond just like, huh, am I supposed to?
Maybe he didn't know WHAT to think!
the reason why JD and his dad switched talking roles in this scene is to show how similar they are in what they say, do, and how they act.
At 1:45 you can see how traumatized JD is from seeing his mother die in the explosion. His father either doesn't see or doesn't care what he does to his son by showing this tape. "*maybe*"
he was watching admiration/inspiration. i think thats what gave him the idea to blow up the school.
No, the look is because that's where he gets the plan for blowing up the school. Veronica points that out to him when she foils his plan.
the look on her face after meeting jd s father showed she knew whoa I thought my family is messed up
JD’s dad: I put a Norwegian in the boiler room.
Me: IM NORWEGIAN! DON’T PUT ME IN THE BOILER ROOM!
XD
This. Took me years to understand that line. Is it supposed to be common knowledge that "a norwegian" is a type of explosive? Because it's really not
What was the deal with the way JD and his old man talked to each other with the roles reversed?
Passive aggressive way of saying "Why aren't you introducing me to your girlfriend?" and "Why aren't you inviting my girlfriend to stay for dinner?" x))
ChrisC11291980 no he means JD was calling his dad son and his dad was calling him pop
To show their strange 'slightly' unhealthy relationship.
ChrisC11291980 and notice how it reversed back when they mentioned his mom?
ChrisC11291980 YEAH!!!!!
“Oh great the beavers home.” Veronica has met him twice and she hates him already.

Did JDs dad kill his mom?? If so why is he admitting it right Infront of Veronica ??
@@XD-nv9ey no jd dad runs a construction business and when he was about to blow up a building for his business his mom ran in to commit suicide

Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re related
I don't understand why JD calls him son and the dad calls him pops and why he keeps asking questions and answering them as if JD asked them

Am I the only one amused by the fact that Veronica is played by the same person as Joyce Byers from stranger things
Her name is Winona Ryder, and she is famous for being a huge movie star, not somebody's mom on some teen show. You will show her respect.
well yeah...it's Winona Ryder...she's a pretty famous actress..
