You forgot about a saturated heart, if you use a lot of powered staffs it boosts your max hit with 10+ depending on gear, i believe its worth getting even before virtus
Aptly named forgotten brews make for a decent substitution in many fights. That and cox & toa having their own superior boosts makes heart somewhat less important. Good call though!
@@yentegoossens3244 saturated heart is constant +13 and forgotten brews +10 that goes down once per minute. Difference worth a max hit at least. Clearly better but the question is when it is worth over buying other items. Would need to consult a dps calc and consider gp/dps.

One thing to note is the Elidinis Ward requires 80 prayer to wear, and buying 80 prayer is obviously a hidden cost. The Malediction Ward has 2% magic dmg instead of 3% and 0 pray bonus instead of 1, but it has way way better defense and better magic accuracy, and is cheaper than Elidinis.
@petifogger2340 will still take mad long to get 80 with that, would rather do moons, get some gps from uniques get tons of shards, then do a mix of both blessed shards and dragon bonea from the gps u got
Decent video, randomly popped up. Forgot brophyta is best f2p staff, no hearts included and lastly who gets a trident before glory haha that made me chuckle! Glory should be miles before trident. Good vid tho 👍🏼
Accursed sceptre’s spec is also great if you don’t have an Eldritch yet. Also, a base Nightmare Staff also has 15% dmg and can autocast ancients as a cheaper Kodai alternative, but it’s accuracy is a bit lower. Great vid tho king
Basically start with god cape (i), occult, ahrims, trident, tormented bracelet, eledinis ward and eternal boots (~30m). Upgrade trident to sang when you can (~100m). Then years later when you're super rich you buy Shadow along with ancestral and magus ring (
Don’t forget about base nightmare staff (no orb)! It costs less than half the price of the kodai wand for an EXTREMELY small DPS decrease compared to it.
yea its pretty good, if you can somehow afford that and not the ward its not a bad choice, but usually if you can afford a mages book, a mil more for the ward shouldn't be an issue
agreed the mage book is a fine upgrade, similar in price to ward, and it doesnt require 80 prayer which is a pretty steep requirement looking at how much it costs or how long it takes to lvl up prayer
Mages book is actually better dps in 99% of situations unless that extra % gives you a max hit, even then the ward is only better in certain areas by a miniscule amount
why lightbearer over seers? it just doesn't add up to me.. it has absolutely no stat bonuses and it just recharges spec faster which i've never seen a mage weapon have a spec before??! i'm so confused by this.. edit: UNLESS you are using range and mele switches for a raid or something i guess? idk i just don't see it benefiting mage alone.
Trident seems pointless now with elemental weaknesses. You cannot autocast elemental spells with it, and no way a trident out dpses slayer helm + chaos gauntlet + water wave vs demons or fire giants or air wave vs barrows or earth waves vs metal dragons You can max hit fire giants for 44 with the new combat rebalance using water spells. 38-40 for dragons/demons. I'm getting 90k xp/hour killing hellhounds rn on task with water wave, chaos gauntlet, occult necklace and imbued god cape. Honestly, mystic smoke seems like the best upgrade to staff. Especially for doing barrows.
@@kensmets4540 ... I didn't realize this. This makes my barrows runs much less complicated lol. No need to switch gloves between ranging, dds spec and spells. Still! The damage is there. 44 on fire giants (100% weakness), 40 on demons (50% weakness). 20 second ttk makes for a nice and easy task. It does cost bloods, but you can do barrows and get a net positive blood plus ton of death/chaos runes for either bursting or trading for blood.
I find it odd that you skipped ibans and warped. If someone has 75 mage chances are they know all this info already. So you completely skipped early game magic
Warped is a skip unless iron because warped is only more DPS than Iban at 81 mage, which by then you’d have at least a regular trident or a toxic one. Iban’s use has diminished even for irons due to the introduction of elemental weakness, but i do agree that it should still be mentioned.
ancestral is a complete waste of gp w/o shadow. nightmare staff>kodai wand on price point alone. kodai's slightly higher accuracy isn't doing anything for you and a 4 slot rune pouch makes kodai's water runes irrelevant
Costs 800k less than Elidinis and has 1% less magic damage. If you're an iron that has malediction but not Elidinis, it's a great item. but 800k per 1% is some of the cheapest magic damage you can buy.
@@patyfatycake_OSRS Good points! Thanks! I didn’t realize how cheap the Elidinis had gotten. I wasn’t sure if the defenses on the ward made it worth using over the elidinis but it makes sense when you put it that way.

What do you expect them to do? OSRS has a live economy, the prices aren't set by jagex, they fluctuate based on supply and demand.
Lunar Ring requires 40 def not 20. Also skipping to 75 age without covering progression through early game doesn’t quite make this a complete guide.
This is not for Ironmen, so if you're here as an Ironman, ignore the majority of this, it isn't gunna help.
