VERY IMPRESSIVE!! I would never have thought you'd need to have mousetraps for your truck but then it totally made sense once you described the challenge of leaving your truck during your hunt only to return and find there are little critters that have worked their way into your cab. I also especially love the use of a drawer system that locks so that expensive items like rifles, etc. can be secured even more while you're away from your vehicle. I hope you have a lot of fun with that rig and on your trips!!
A buddy and I used to use a similar setup in Alaska for hunting up off of the Dalton Highway (haul road). We did 1x6s across the top of the bed rails and then had all our gear underneath....tighter sleeping quarters but it worked well and you could just leave your bed set up.
Thats a nice set up, I have the same thing (decked system with same camper top with rienforced internal frame) you dont have to worrie about stuff getting stollen or soaked in the rain.
anyone who sees this and isn't specific on what brand truck they drive look into the Ram series. Most of their models have a fold out bench on the back row that doubles as a bed...it would be a perfect addition to sleep a third person on a back country hunting trip
I have a tundra double cab with a canopy/topper. I had a sleeping platform and I got sick of crawling in and out of it. I much prefer a ground tent. The only downside is having to air it out at home. Other than that, I find it WAY more comfortable. Cheers!
I'm wondering how the sorttoppers would be for this type setup. They can be folded forward out of the way of bed for hauling taller items. I'm trying to figure out a good camping setup that is comfortable at a permanent spot but leaving the vehicle mobile for spike out camping/hunting. But still have the whole camp able to be packed up in about a half hour. And not spend $30k or more on a trailer. Need to get extra crap out of the cab. Rifles and bow will be in cab, I won;t put them in the bed even if in the Decked drawers.
is there any kind of way to access your equipment in those pullouts if you couldnt open your tailgate? like say hypothetically you slide down an access road into a tree or something
Awesome video! Great vehicle setup for your gear! Wondering what you use for heat though? We use our RV as home base when we are out hunting but this is something to think about as well for those quick weekend hunting trips.
Very cool setup. If you're on a longer hunt and end up having meat to store, but still need space to sleep...how do you do that? Also, what are you using for power and heat?
Can you tell me about the drawer system you installed plz. Make, Model...etc. I didnt see it listed in the comments and would like to complete my build with that type model. It was exactly what i was looking for. thank you. And sweet set up too!
Do you know the measurement from the top of the decked to the top of the cap? Wondering if I would have enough height to sit up straight without hitting my head.
Hey, great video and demonstration, by far in the top tier of what ive been seeing on youtube now a days. I have a few questions about your cargo system (badass BTW!). I know you have a campershell on there, but do you know if you can park an ATV on it? the site says evenly distributed up to 2000lbs, i was just wondering if you knew first hand How is it attached to the bed of the truck itself, i dont imagine it just sits there thanks to good ol gravity the site also says dust and mist can enter the cargo area, are we talkin a LOT of dust or.. i mean i know its hard to give a quantity but... any input would be appreciated. they dont even make one for my truck but i imagine they will in the future, and if it can hold an ATV im getting one
I know yours is an old post, but others might have this same question. In my experience, the biggest entry for dust is around the tailgate and rear window ,where it seals with the tailgate and shell body. Makes sense cause the dust billows up behind the rig on those gravel/dirt roads! First thing to seal and you may not need anything further.
id go with the hemi over the cummins too. Just too much work to make them reliable now a days. I mean you know your going to delete it, and they require head studs if deleted what a joke.
That tow rope is garbage, get a better strap dude. You can get a 12 volt power outlet for inside the topper so you can charge things. Even a small fan or small reading light. Even better would be an inverter.

Nice setup. Vehicle camping is way better than tent camping if you're close to the rig.
Best way when chasing elk on public land.
Relatively basic, rock solid setup. Nice work!
Adding the exact same top and drawers to my truck.

especially nice when you've got a mega cab ;)
I agree, but they're too expensive in Canada.
Definitely a great feature of the Ram Trucks.
The back seats fold out on the ram as abed? Never heard of that...u got a picture?

Love these BTS mini-vids!
Thanks Kristin!
Great Hunting truck!!!
Dudes got it figured out 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video and truck setup.
I like the single LED bar down the middle. What length and make/model of lighting?

Nice rig
You didnt have to use that basket for the bull rack. You just wanted to show it off!!!😂😂😂😂😂
No hatin' here. I would do the same. Hahahaha
How did that Haul Master hold up over the years?
Nice setup but where does the deer go when you get one??
is there any kind of way to access your equipment in those pullouts if you couldnt open your tailgate? like say hypothetically you slide down an access road into a tree or something
.... I'd like to hear that story lol
Thats why he needs a winch on the front
sick rig 👌👌👌🔥
Very nice setup!👍🏽👍🏽

What length truck bed do you have? Guessing a 6.5’?
Very cool setup. If you're on a longer hunt and end up having meat to store, but still need space to sleep...how do you do that?
Also, what are you using for power and heat?
How in the world do mice get into what is supposed to be a tightly enclosed compartment?
Awesome vid man! Sweet rig.
Do you have dust getting in the cap when driving on dirt roads?
What do you do for heat ? Need to put up some type of curtains or limo tint ur windows
Can you tell me about the drawer system you installed plz. Make, Model...etc. I didnt see it listed in the comments and would like to complete my build with that type model. It was exactly what i was looking for. thank you. And sweet set up too!
Just look up “decked” and you’ll find the right one for your setup
Do you know the measurement from the top of the decked to the top of the cap? Wondering if I would have enough height to sit up straight without hitting my head.
I'll stick with my Ultralight pickup camper, queen size bed, furnace, stove, sink, bathroom and tons of storage space and no mice!
Why not an elevated roof tent ?
Do you sleep with the gate open? I have a 5.5' bed, kinda hard for me to sleep in it with it shut.
Thanks but what about your truck specs? Any lift, tires, winch, or underbody protection?
Sweet set up. What pack is that?
Kifaru Woodsman. Check them out. Link is in the description.
What do you do for heat?
Nice rig but you should have gotten the Outdoorsman trim level with the flares and upgraded shocks... (and the badge)
Nice
Good stuff!

what kind of boots are those in your trunk
What kind of gear pack is that ??
I just hope you're still driving a Cummins?
😬
smh....
id go with the hemi over the cummins too. Just too much work to make them reliable now a days. I mean you know your going to delete it, and they require head studs if deleted what a joke.
what is the name of that platform?
DECKED?
That tow rope is garbage, get a better strap dude. You can get a 12 volt power outlet for inside the topper so you can charge things. Even a small fan or small reading light. Even better would be an inverter.
do you live in Kalispell?
What kind of backpack do you use?
Kifaru Woodsman. Made in Colorado. Amazing packs.
Montana Wild thank you I’ve been looking for a new backpack for my first elk hunt this year
I won't take a Ford in the wild anymore
Except its a dodge and wont last 150k
Where does your wife sleep
It does fit in the back, but you know you just want to show off and look cool
A Ram ?.......So sad.
Nice. However i lost respect when he said ‘cush’…. Just speak freaking english, not millennialism.
