this has been my favourite song for about 9 years. i always come back to it during different phases in my life and somehow it always fit no matter how different the situation i was in. im never going to have a different favourite song. this will forever be ingrained in my heart.

Can someone explain the meaning of this song? I always thought it was unreciprocated love.
thotasaurus I’m not so sure myself, either-but this is my interpretation:
Someone lost something very significant to them (perhaps a lover or friend), they look back on how they spent their time together; or how they could’ve. Finding things to self-indulge in to hide the pain behind a facade, or distracting them from it, at least. “And mix a fear up with a friend,”-having someone to discuss issues with.
They want to be remembered, because they’re constantly reminiscing about the significant entity.
-this song means a lot to me. I relate to it so much, it actually really, really hurts. I’m so happy I discovered the song, ‘cause whenever I feel low or sentimental, this song makes me feel calm and happy (but at the same time, also sad).
