Let's be honest... Soyeon's very existence is a flex. She can rap, sing, dance, choreograph, write, produce, direct and come up with every single detail in a concept/song/MV/comeback/album etc. Now she's even an executive producer on her company. She doesn't get to be regard as a "genius" in the kpop industry at 25 for nothing. Her mind is truly incredible and her creative process is so impressive. Yeti! As always your interpretation has been flawless. Soyeon did get inspiration from US teen movies. And it was her idea to use the format of a TV show for this comeback concept. The last scene in 'Queencard' is a little dubious and can be interpreted as an allucionation caused by the anesthesics but also represents her realization that when you stop focusing in others people's opinions and society standards, and just love yourself for who you are, you'll notice people around you who are also accepting of you. Soyeon didn't change her apparence to look ugly, she just dressed as her own nerd self (she's is kinda known for that) bc since her pre-debut days (and even now tho a little less) she gets a lot of unjustified hate for her appearance not being up to Korean standards. Soyeon actually has a really good range. On their RUclips channel they have several videos of them recording the title tracks. Soyeon coaches each member on how exactly she wants every word pronounced. She can match her tone to all of the members. It's also a great insight into how her mind works. She specifically crafts each part to suit each member's voice. Definitely worth a watch!
I feel Soyeon wrote Allergy and Queencard in relation to her earlier days. Before (G)I-DLE she struggle a lot with her looks because the public constantly called her ugly so she began to believe it and honestly thought she was ugly. But when she started to accept herself and become more comfortable and confident in herself and her looks, believing herself to be beautiful, others began to accept her and call her beautiful as well.
I remember back then she would say stuff like "I know I'm ugly but what can I do about it?" I was so confused back then because I actually liked her visuals since PD101, k-beauty standards are too much🥲

I am regularly reminded of the clip from Produce 101 where Soyeon is on one of the teams of hopefuls working with a producer and he had her do a singing part for the heck of it apparently, and she killed it, and he quipped that if the main rapper is this good at singing what are the singers supposed to do, or something to that effect. He was paying her a compliment, but also serving notice to the vocalists that you can't rest as there is always someone out there with better skills or who is more well-rounded.

Bibi & Young Ji) - The latter is an absolute, 200% much watch!! Minnie: Getaway, Nothing (Live Bruno Mars cover) - If you htink you love Minnie now, the latter will melt your heart completely. Yayy I missed your reactions so much, welcome back!! For the solos, Soyeon has one single (Jelly) she released before the group's debut and then a mini-album (title track is Beam Beam). Miyeon has one mini album (title track Drive) that even contains the first song she wrote lyrics for (Rain, composed by Yuqi), she also has a lot of OSTs but I'd start from her album tbh. Yuqi has a single album w/ 2 songs (Giant and Bonnie&Clyde) but she also has a lot of covers I absolutely adore (most recent one is Miley Cyrus' Flowers, she killed it). Minnie has a few OSTs (my favorites are Getaway and Saying Hello) plus she has a single with Anne-Marie called Expectations. Shuhua doesn't have singing projects yet since she didn't have much confidence to go solo before, but you could watch her solo stage (dance cover to Britney Spears' Boys) for the current tour, she's really shining lately!! For Soojin I suggest the two artis of the month for studio choom, so so good
i feel like that queencard ending was to express that she went out and celebrated or went all out, didn't care about what others thought, dressed and acted as she wanted to bc this was gonna be the last night before her surgery. the way she felt she was unable to do before. the feeling of doing it was so freeing for her that she felt like she should've just done that the whole time. and the sudden greetings and comments, etc. are all positive reinforcements that she's great the way she is, if only she just allow that to show/open up/be herself.

I've been looking forward to this, thank you so much I think that at the end of queencard everything happened but it feels weird because of the anesthesia (?) and that's why you can see that in some scenes Minnie or Miyeon turn into Soyeon. Also i don't think it is the glasses that define her beauty but the way that in allergy she feels insecure but in queencard it's all about confidence, that's literally the lyrics at the end "A girl full of confidence, Queenca-ca-card", so it's not that she took the glasses of and now she's pretty but more that now she FEELS pretty. the story was inspired by the movie "i feel pretty", in the movie the main character wished to be pretty and later hit her head, when she woke up she thought her wish became real and everyone seems to like her. but they all still see her same apperance from before but she just became more confident, which made her more attractive. for the event happened or not, its kinda up to interpretation. maybe its just her dream, and in her dream she see herself as other members (who are queencards in her eye), and she kinda lost herself in the end so when she woke up she decided not to do it, or maybe she went out the night before but shes so drunk so it was like a dream. its kinda the stereotypical 2000s show/movie's "its all a dream... or is it?" kinda trope. the high teen movie concept of this comeback, according to the director of the mv, is soyeon's idea. this comeback is very personal to soyeon cuz she always faced critics about her looks. she received comments like "she has talent but shes too ugly to be a gg member", and she even quited a performance in produce101 cuz she thought her appearance would affect how the group look on stage. so it took sometime for her to become confident like today
soyeon also said that because last 2 comebacks feel like they are giving big lessons, so this comeback they decided to make it more lighthearted and not that serious so ppl dont feel like they are being lectured again. but it still carries a good message

It's about a girl with no self esteem, that after a head bump wakes up as looking super hot, and starts making a lot of friends and successes, until by the end she realises she actually never changed her appearance, only her perception of herself.

I definitely agree that its silly that the "feeling unpretty" is glasses, however I forgive Soyeon for it because she has a long history in Korean media of being called ugly. In Produce 101 and in Unpretty Rapstar she was dissed for her looks by the media and online comments (I know, it makes no sense), so I'm sure thats directly what Allergy and Queencard stems from.
Oh, also she does wear glasses sometimes herself and not just as a costume. You can see it in some behind the scenes stuff when she's teaching others, like on the show's she's been a judge on etc.

Idk if anyone else has mentioned it but if you wanna see more of the members solo stuff both Miyeon and Soyeon have solo mini albums and they're both AMAZING, my favorite songs are Te Amo from Miyeons and Weather from Soyeons. Soyeon also has some amazing songs from pre debut especially from her Unpretty Rapstar time, Smile is a beautiful song that talks about Soyeons experience in the industry at that point. Yuqi has 2 of her own songs Giant and "Bonnie and Clyde" but she also has some amazing covers of english songs. Minnie has done quite a few collabs with artist and has sung for a drama before the song is called Getaway, I would also recommend her cover of Gravity. Theres lots of other stuff but those are my personal recommendations

G-IDLE was never was on my playlist. I liked a few of their songs but this new album with Queencard and “I Do” had made me a new fan. Really enjoyed their concepts, music video and productions. Mad respect to Soyeon for her concepts, writing, and producer. She does it all and her vocal had grown on me once I understood her concepts. My bias is Minnie, she has this buttery voice that just melts your soul. All members are talented, beautiful and brought their own unique style to the group. Yes, I’m totally a fan boy now. 🌺🌺🌺

i feel like that queencard ending was to express that she went out and celebrated or went all out, didn't care about what others thought, dressed and acted as she wanted to bc this was gonna be the last night before her surgery. the way she felt she was unable to do before. the feeling of doing it was so freeing for her that she felt like she should've just done that the whole time. and the sudden greetings and comments, etc. are all positive reinforcements that she's great the way she is, if only she just allow that to show/open up/be herself.

I think that at the end of queencard everything happened but it feels weird because of the anesthesia (?) and that's why you can see that in some scenes Minnie or Miyeon turn into Soyeon.
Also i don't think it is the glasses that define her beauty but the way that in allergy she feels insecure but in queencard it's all about confidence, that's literally the lyrics at the end "A girl full of confidence, Queenca-ca-card", so it's not that she took the glasses of and now she's pretty but more that now she FEELS pretty.
Finally I'm so sad you didn't watch the mv of "I do", it's a masterpiece and one of my favorites, i hope you can watch it next time.

the story was inspired by the movie "i feel pretty", in the movie the main character wished to be pretty and later hit her head, when she woke up she thought her wish became real and everyone seems to like her. but they all still see her same apperance from before but she just became more confident, which made her more attractive.
for the event happened or not, its kinda up to interpretation. maybe its just her dream, and in her dream she see herself as other members (who are queencards in her eye), and she kinda lost herself in the end so when she woke up she decided not to do it, or maybe she went out the night before but shes so drunk so it was like a dream. its kinda the stereotypical 2000s show/movie's "its all a dream... or is it?" kinda trope.
the high teen movie concept of this comeback, according to the director of the mv, is soyeon's idea. this comeback is very personal to soyeon cuz she always faced critics about her looks. she received comments like "she has talent but shes too ugly to be a gg member", and she even quited a performance in produce101 cuz she thought her appearance would affect how the group look on stage. so it took sometime for her to become confident like today
soyeon also said that because last 2 comebacks feel like they are giving big lessons, so this comeback they decided to make it more lighthearted and not that serious so ppl dont feel like they are being lectured again. but it still carries a good message

Queencard is based on a movie called "I feel pretty" from 2018. It's about a girl with no self esteem, that after a head bump wakes up as looking super hot, and starts making a lot of friends and successes, until by the end she realises she actually never changed her appearance, only her perception of herself.

I definitely agree that its silly that the "feeling unpretty" is glasses, however I forgive Soyeon for it because she has a long history in Korean media of being called ugly. In Produce 101 and in Unpretty Rapstar she was dissed for her looks by the media and online comments (I know, it makes no sense), so I'm sure thats directly what Allergy and Queencard stems from.
Oh, also she does wear glasses sometimes herself and not just as a costume. You can see it in some behind the scenes stuff when she's teaching others, like on the show's she's been a judge on etc.

Idk if anyone else has mentioned it but if you wanna see more of the members solo stuff both Miyeon and Soyeon have solo mini albums and they're both AMAZING, my favorite songs are Te Amo from Miyeons and Weather from Soyeons. Soyeon also has some amazing songs from pre debut especially from her Unpretty Rapstar time, Smile is a beautiful song that talks about Soyeons experience in the industry at that point. Yuqi has 2 of her own songs Giant and "Bonnie and Clyde" but she also has some amazing covers of english songs. Minnie has done quite a few collabs with artist and has sung for a drama before the song is called Getaway, I would also recommend her cover of Gravity. Theres lots of other stuff but those are my personal recommendations
There's a GIDLE MV called 'Play Buldak', which is their latest group MV. It's got a very strong I NEVER DIE era vibe to it.
Another song of Soyeon's that I don't know that many people know about is Fire from Street Dance Girl Fighters. It's really good and I think Soyeon's vocals in it are amazing.

G-IDLE was never was on my playlist. I liked a few of their songs but this new album with Queencard and “I Do” had made me a new fan. Really enjoyed their concepts, music video and productions. Mad respect to Soyeon for her concepts, writing, and producer. She does it all and her vocal had grown on me once I understood her concepts. My bias is Minnie, she has this buttery voice that just melts your soul. All members are talented, beautiful and brought their own unique style to the group. Yes, I’m totally a fan boy now. 🌺🌺🌺
