This was AMAZING. After decades of conflicting announcements and "research," two heart attacks and massive pulmonary embolisms, I am FINALLY convInced by Dr. Kahn that yes, cholesterol levels DO matter, and reducing saturated fat / animal fat is important. It was also an eye opener to learn about the lipoprotein (a) genetic factor. This was a gem.
Love listening to Dr Kahn. Very glad to see that Jeff Nelson has stopped his crusade against you, Dr Joel Fuhrman and others. He also pointed me in the direction of Dr Valter Longo who I highly respect, and if you could get him on your show, that would be awesome.
one of at least 100 nice lectures in interview from Kahn , thanks ! and at age 32 I want to be this young when I come at 50+ , juveneology is amazing science .
I'm really curious how much nutrition might be individual based on genes and health conditions. For example, a plant based diet might be especially important for someone with the APOE4 gene, which increases likelihood of heart disease. But some people seem to really benefit from a carnivore diet, especially if they have autoimmune disease.
Hi Heather :) Thanks for your comment! I'm not a fan of the carnivore diet. I think the long term consequences of a carnivore diet is disastrous (both physiologically and for the planet). We need a healthy microbiome to thrive - and what does our microbiome need? Plants. I agree though that some seem to benefit on the short term from a restrictive diet like a carnivore diet, if they have extreme inflammation - but you'd want to transition out of it as soon as possible. I still think there's better ways to get inflammation under control though, than to do a carnivore diet. Just my thoughts :)
