If you know of Mariah Carey, you know it's a compliment. She calls herself one all the time.
In this case calling Meg a diva was not a compliment! It means just that! She's a diva, all about her all the time. Meg wants to be like Diana so bad she doesn't want anyone saying anything negative about her. So she tries to spin it. Mariah just calls it as it is.

I don’t get it … first Meghan praised Mariah for being a diva and how she used to look up to her for being one. But as soon as Mariah called Meghan also a “diva” it was received negatively by her.

It is the context and confusing mission of this podcast. Why would Megan admit the word 'diva' is something Mariah connects to, yet take Mariah's keen observation and use of term, as a dig? I do not find Megan self-aware of the very words she is showcasing.

Why would anyone actually want to be described this way unless they desperately want attention?
At one time it wasn't meant to be defined as a self serving, temperamental and difficult woman. My personal diva was Diana Carroll, black, beautiful, confident and smart, there was no other way to describe her. Now, because so many talented women followed her style, the word has the connotation as being a witch, and the only woman described that way, more often is the black woman. The same woman who was to stay in the kitchen and be the housemaid to white people. That was the premise of the conversation with Meghan and Mariah. Sadly it has to be explained to a group of ignorant trolls who are out to destroy.

I'm a white woman married to a Hispanic man . I never understood racism until my children went to school my daughter was severely bullied because the kids in her high school thought she wasn't all Hispanic or Caucasian . I had to take her out her junior year it devastated are family. She had low self esteem. My child went through many years dealing with this trauma . But she is now a mother and teacher so proud. But now my granddaughter who is Caucasian Hispanic and Persian a beautiful soul is in middle school is now dealing with this a sad world we just can't love one another
Well I have a lot of cousins that are mixed. White and Hispanic and they never feel or see any of that nonsense. They're just seen as people living their life.
