The big irony is that Capcom is notorious for killing franchises or studios after a single flop, out of some overblown fear response that if something has flopped once it was not because the individual game might not have been successful but that the entire IP is lacking interest. Yet the mistake that led to their huge dark age of trying to chase what they perceive the Western market likes even if they don't have any clue what the Western market wants is being repeated, point for point.

@@Tamachii12 I’m still playing the physical DMC & RE PS3 & PS4 versions so haven’t run into anything noticeable. Dragons Dogma is my favorite ARPG and the only issue I’ve had is not being able to name my Arisen with my name - but it could be because of Sony, not sure.
This sucks but the good news is they're losing power and influence. They won't be able to continue to do this for much longer.

To be fair they kinda learned, since Resident evil 7 they haven't put any trash games like they used to in the 2010's and I don't recall them being in any *recent* woke controversy.
Yeah what happened to Langdon was unfair, but as soon as he said it was Yoshiori Ono the one that give him the shaft it made sense, Ono was a Capcom producer, his biggest claim to the company was that he _resurrected_ the fighting game genere by producing street fighter 4 but he also almost killed it again by flooding the market with unnecessary versions of it and Street Fighter 5 which is one of the least liked installments, he was also onboard with Keiji Inafune's plan to _Westernize_ the company when he was president which tarnished the company's image until they got their crap together in 2017.
Point is he's kinda of a hack and he's no longer at the company, and the fact that Itsuno got Langdon's back means there are folk there that don't cave to that nonsense, it also helps that Istuno unlike Ono it's an actual GOAT, I said he's on the level as Kamiya or Mikami.

My thoughts exactly. I'm genuinely curious how RE5 Remake will turn out to be. Mind you even back in 2009 when the OG RE5 was released it was accused of being racist because it takes place in Africa and therefore the infected people i.e. Majini you have to fight/kill are black. In order to appease those critics Capcom made the people more diverse. I think we can only imagine how bad it will be in this day and age when things have gotten so much worse and more insane. I am a black man in the U.S. I am from one of the roughest areas in Detroit, born and raised. I understand oppression directly and/or through my parents/grandparents. With all that being said about my background, I 100% agree with you here. Equality is an important aspect in Western society, when it comes to specific areas in life. I believe the message and approach should always try to be organic and authentic with integration.. especially in an established channel such as video games. The approach matters immensely. I come from a family of gamers (even my Mom, RIP). What they are doing within the gaming industry is a terrible approach and will force the opposite result honestly. You can't approach things with hate, period. You become no better than the things you feel are wrong about society. I have been extremely disappointed in Western gaming lately because they have the nerve to think they can REWRITE these stories that have been a part of people's lives. Batman was everything to me growing up. I had all comics, toys, bed spread, etc. I could never relate to him being a rich white man because I was EXACT opposite, but the man amongst gods who protected people at all costs through rigorous training, intelligence, discipline, and strong will is something I believe EVERYONE can relate to. The decline in video games started in late 2013 and early 2014, it started to get worse from there. Loot boxes, psychological exploitation, microtransactions, woke politics, live services, FOMO, emphasis on season passes, store exclusive preorder bonuses, etc, etc.
You're honestly not wrong but I'd extend it a bit further. I'd it truly started when online multiplayer began. That's when story quality began to shift and everyone focused on only multiplayer balance. Story was sacrificed first, then once they had everyone online they began introducing all that garbage. I started gaming on the og gameboy, then n64, ps1, all the way up to now. The generation with Playstation 2 was still peak gaming to me. Once ps3/360 gen began, thats when the decline began. So early 2000s really.
COD4 was the exact moment.
- all games were "realistic" (brown and grey) for a while
- all games were trying to be FPS modern military for a while
- JP developers suddenly were trying to make western style games and/or use western studios to make the next entries in franchises, killing them off at times
- all games suddenly had to be multi million sellers
- experimental, quirky, fun games were not allowed or heavily reduced in release number
- accelerated the normies/tourists coming into gaming as youtube creator/montages etc was just starting at this time and they were all showing their "leet" COD skills (which involved being in clans so most were not actually that good but I digress).

@ENDYMIONtv A moment of encouragement: I was a journalist for little over a year, (was told I would be a music industry writer), and it didn't take long for me to realize how vulturous the news/journalism industry is, how much those people think they are actually above the celebrities, but are actually wannabe losers. It made me feel vile more and more everyday and I could feel my moral fiber degrading more and more.
They are either one of two things: a group that only focuses on smear pieces (because "CoNTrovErSY" for clicks) or a group that is paid to do specific smear pieces. It's all about the controversy and the money under the table.

What Rueben said about fellow voice actors taking the same viewpoints is something I am very glad he said. Because nowadays every single voice actor you see collectively all seem to share the same woke viewpoints and especially on Twitter they lose their shit when anyone disagrees with them. And the voice actors in question, look to any dub for anime or games. You know them, but I guarantee you that the voice actors listed share the ‘exact’ same viewpoints and will do anything to have a tantrum on anyone who disagrees with them.
Now of course you can separate the talent and art from the viewpoints but still it’s not always the easiest thing to do especially if consumable media is heavily influenced by these woke ideologies. But it seems people are pushing back and I’m glad Rueben is just doing his thing and disassociates with the wokesters.

Chermai Leigh for example (who voiced the female protagonist in Cyberpunk and Lucy in Fairy Tail) is a great voice actress and she just wants to enjoy her job, and it helps that she rarely posts on social media so she’s somewhat disassociating.
Others though seem like the type of people that would be fun at parties. The English cast for the Persona series are arguably the worst for the woke ideology it’s insane.

When I hadn’t done anything, she had title 9’d me after I declined on dating her, so she tried to ruin my school career due to that. Anyways the HR lady already made up her mind and sided with the girl and claimed everything I had said was a lie, because “all men are dogs” according to her. The entire phone call was her just attacking me for like 30 mins, finally when it was over I told her to call my parents about it, my mom is the Head of HR at the company she works at. The last called my mom and I got a phone call later that week of her apologizing to me and the stuff she said. I also later learned she quit her job as HR from the school after she had called my mom. W mom move. But it’s messed up how the Human Resources manger would believe a lie, or well it’s not to shocking anymore with how the world is. Boy am I glad for my mom having a level head on her shoulders and calling out the BS the lady had spoke even all the victim blaming she did to herself.

As for what happened to Langdon that was prior to RE7 release and the guy that gave him the shaft was Ono which was a hack that's no longer at the company, the fact that Itsuno, who's arguably Capcom's top talent right now stood by him shows the company no longers wants to _westernize_ itself back when Infaune was in charge.

The only overly woke game of theirs I can see is SF6. But for some reason Capcom is unable to make attractive models with the RE Engine for most of their games. In the RE remakes, everyone is ugly or mid. I literally can't play them unless I have mods that actually make them resemble their OG selves. In fact, every game they make, the characters are ugly or mid. Exoprimal? Forget about it. Not every character has to be attractive, sure, but it's crazy that literally every character is unattractive? When in the past EVERY character of theirs was attractive? Something is going on.
