Moreso Randy giving him clout for the push he deserves. No doubt Vince and co. would've just released or kept Riddle in the midcard if it wasn't for Orton.
You can tell Matt is a big fan of Randy and follows his advice by heart.... Also, Randy's also having fun with a person like Matt being under his wing. These two just complement each other and push each other to be better than before. A perfect team!

He’s right about the endless spotfests. I can see Randy still wrestling when half of the AEW guys are prematurely retired. Look at how bad Omega’s body is broken up when he didn’t have to do half of what he’s done because he can wrestle. Randy’s been making a consistent fortune on the biggest stage for 20 years and could easily do it for another 15
Gotta blame the coaches that trained a lot of the Indy guys. It’s just something those wrestlers are going to have to learn over time I guess as they keep going. They just need to study more of the psychology aspect and learn the art of “it’s not what you do, it’s when you do it”.
Luckily more OGs of the business have branched out and is helping the young guys cause that spot fest stuff have been fizzling out more lately compared to how often it was being seen on AEW before. I haven’t taken any bumps though so who am I to really say all this…I’m just a fan but I’m also not just an ordinary fan…I’m a fan that studies. I’m sure since the landscape has changed in AEW, Kenny is probably learning more now that he’s out of action and watching. Hopefully a lot of the Indy guys learn it out and also mix in logic with their move set also. Just takes time
Some of the younger guys can be too sensitive to criticism, which is understandable when you want to do everything because your body allows you at that age. But the veterans are much better with young guys than they were in the past and in most cases are looking out for them with their criticism. There’s no real equivalent of the Hogan’s and Nash’s in high level wrestling anymore.
Doesn’t mean I don’t like exciting spots. Just so much better when it’s spaced out, timed well and milked for all it’s worth. If you get right up from something that looks incredible then the lasting impression fans are left with is that it isn’t really all that
A lot of it is still too much for my taste in AEW but they’ve definitely improved on bringing in more of the classic wrestling style. I find the early shows hard to watch when I go back. They’ve always had both but it was way too weighted in favour of the indie style for a while for me. There’s a lot more variety now. I can sit through a Bucks match to see MJF and vice versa

Randy Orton is being pretty specific about the new regime on NXT that's mostly green as shit talent not about the Black and Gold vets who knew what they were doing. If you read between the lines he is saying that all the athletes who see WWE as a paycheck are going to be a danger in the ring.
He said he has given NXT shit for years; how does that equate to being specific to the new regime vs the Black and Gold?

So is storytelling through selling and drawn-out facials. If you’re limiting “pro wrestling” to 40 min superkick fests then you’re ruling out virtually everything done in wrestling before the 2010’s indie scene, when it was popular. It’s all pro-wrestling.
Yeah some of it was pretty good and the writing was a lot better than the current NXT. They built up to Takeovers pretty well and I liked the press conferences they did right before the black and gold era ended
