Nice reaction mate. Apparently the band lobbied for this to be the Bond theme for film Skyfall but was rejected. One day I do hope they get to record for the franchise as I feel they would be superb.
@@nerea4327 I mean, I think they thought Adele’s skyfall fit the theme better and I sort of agree. The rock sound of Supremacy wouldn’t really fit the in the intro for Skyfall
Criminally underrated guitarist and criminally underrated album. Although among fans, this is probably the song that gets the most love out of T2L. Now you know what i meant when i said "Bond theme", even the drummer, Dom Howard said he thought this should've been the theme to Skyfall in his opinion. Again, i keep getting reminded by how well produced this album is. It's one of those rare instances with Muse, where the studio versions have actually a lot more to offer than the live version because of how many extra effects, layering of other instrumental tracks, choirs, strings etc... which they don't often bring up live. Now, i know you're gonna listen to Thoughts of a Dying Atheist but the next song i recommend you to listen is the three part Exogenesis Symphony. It may not be your style, it barely has any guitar in it, but it's honestly Muse's magnum opus in terms of technicality, storytelling, drama and creativity.
I wouldn't really say Matt Bellamy is underrated, he's gotten plenty of awards for his playing and even holds a world record, he's gotten plenty of recognition. Also this song was specifically made for Skyfall, it was a competitor for the movie, they just chose to go with Adele's track in production :P
@@hfl_ What awards has he gotten? Muse got awards for best album, best band, best live act... but those for the band, nof for Matt. Matt is a rare case. He's very well known by rock fans, but Muse in general aren't that well known in the mainstream. People might have heard of Uprising and Supermassive black hole, but they're not as popular as other bands like Foo Fighters, Green Day, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys... which again, is quite weird because they sell out arenas and headline festivals. But ask anyone in the street who Muse or Matt Bellamy are, and you'll get a lot of puzzled looks.
@@nerea4327 Guess you've never seen his accolades? He's recieved greatest guitarist of the decade for one thing and tbh in terms of the music scene it honestly, at least in my experience, seems like a lot of people know who he is, his voice is pretty iconic. I guess in the 'main stream' yeah you can say a lot of people don't know him but that goes for most things. And if you think rock in general is gonna reach the heavy main stream in 2022 you're just out of touch at this point. I do agree for the most part though that Muse has been underrated. Don't get me wrong, they used to my favorite band and they're one of my most personal bands as well. I just think acting as if they're underrated to the point where it's almost like no one has heard of them is pretty silly.
Yeah, people don't praise this and the resistance album enough, both are killer albums, also, I would recommend United States of Eurasia from the resistance, an album you haven't reacted to, anyway, great stuff!
recently got back into listening to Muse -- LOVED them back in high school but wasnt thrilled with Drones and kinda stopped listening. I heard their new album and while it's not my favorite, I was reminded of how freaking great this band is. I always have been met with mixed responses when I say I'm a huge fan -- people either have no idea who Muse is, or they hate them, but I've been so relieved to see your reaction videos! Love to hear straight from a musician how great and layered this music is!! I'm still working my way through all your reactions, they've been helping me pick up on subtle details in these songs that I never noticed before. Thanks so much for making such a well-done series and showing real love to this band -- Muse fans like me who have no Muse-loving friends surely appreciate your insight!!
@@gmetzgermusic also a great choice, that song was off muses fifth album which they produced and directed entirely themselves in the studio, no album director or anything except the trio, which was also the first album where people started to split off of muse saying they had changed.
I was introduced to muse when i went to KROQ's Inland Invasion music festival back in 2004 and i have been a fan since. My 12 yr old son is also a big fan of theirs. I too feel they don't get the recognition they truly deserve. They're sooo talented and love that they're not afraid to experiment with their sound, always evolving. So thanks for reacting to them and acknowledging their art.😁🤘🏻
Another one of my favourites (Kind of unfair to say because 99% of these songs are). That Drop A intro riff is nasty, plus the strings accompaniment during the verse and chorus is a nice touch. Good to know you think it sounded a little blue-sy too. Edit: Some good guitar work can also be found in the song “Unnatural Selection”, which has some killer riffs too.
If you're enjoying The 2nd Law you should listen to Follow Me and Animals too, they're both incredible songs. Also, I'd like to see your reaction to Eternally Missed, it's a b-side from Absolution and one of my favorite Muse songs :D
You should check out Unsustainable. It's..... different. You will probably have some questions, and there's a very cool "making of" video that shows more.
You said ‘bluesy feel with the horns’ at the start… but aren’t they strings? It could just be my ears. Edit: just found this - ruclips.net/video/S79IviFZ-q4/видео.html

I liked Skyfall, but Supremacy would’ve fit soooo much better.

Holy freakin Adele
That’s awesome! Definitely would’ve fit.
Supremacy is so underrated. Also if you like blues-y stuff, you should check out Falling Down from their first album.
Yesss I love that song, Falling Down needs more attention
I’ll add that one to the list!
Definitely underrated. It's a showcase of vocal power.

I’ve got no problem with that, it can be cool to get songs without the guitar. I’ve got MK Ultra, Fury, and Exogenesis next on the list.
@@hfl_ as they said, whenever I ask people if they know muse it's very very rare they'll say yes
This should have been the Bond song, you should check out their live performance of this at the Brits, had violin players backing them up

Some of Matt's best guitar playing ever in this song. All the riffs and solos are bangers
Absolutely, the solos on this song are amazing!
Always thought this sounds like the perfect James Bond theme
I agree!

Do big freeze next! It's a perfect example of just even more of their ability to vary outside what people think of as typical muse sound
I’ll do Big Freeze, but MK Ultra is the one I’m doing next.

Lol I meant to say strings. 😂
This was for sure their bid for the James Bond theme
Definitely get those vibes from it.
Please, react to MK Ultra by Muse from their album The Resistance. It has a really awesome opening riff and the ending riff is so cool.
Funny you mention, I’ll be doing that one next.
The james bond theme at the end
Muse created the perfect James Bond theme.... and they never used it.... HOW?!?!

For falsetto, please react to Microcuts if you haven't already :)
