    Good choice - I have a 2007 Ruby Black Coupe myself, brilliant cars. Suggest you shortlist replacing the vanos solenoids, the oil housing gaskets, plugs and coil packs. Change the oil for top quality stuff every 6000 miles and buy yourself a motorwerks V1 gear shift knob - totally transforms the shift 👍

      @@FootToPedal The JCW is a fun little car, and more practical with 4 seats. The engine in the JCW is good, but a little boring with it not being so happy to rev to the limit as the N52, and the sound is awful in comparison. The E86 feels more special, and more grown up. I`ve had E46 M-Sport 3-series in the past, and I think the Z4 feels like a more sporty 3-series.

      Great review Foot to Pedal. I have an e85 3.0si - my previous was a 325ti E46 and what a brilliant car that was too with its sublime M54 engine! I chanced coming along one of these parked in a small street one day and I realised I had hardly ever seen one. And also that I'd forgotten all about them. But I immediately thought it was stunning - almost (but not quite), in the way I find a classic Jag E-Type stunning. I remember a workmate buying the convertible Z4 in 2004 and I was slightly non plussed. The coupe, however, looks like something from the Art Deco age. I've spent the last week looking at them online. The cheapest they come at now is in the £6500/130000m range. But I can't them getting any lower. They are seriously beautiful and quite rare cars. I'm very tempted, but looking for the best one I can find in my budget. Do you still have yours?

    hello from france .my z4 coupe bought in 2016 great car!! i added many upgrade wich cost me around £4000 but don’t regret it as it transformed the car
    light arc8 apex wheels wich reduce unsprung weight
    bilstein b12 kit with eibach
    non rft tires michelin pilot super spot
    new front wishbone track rods and poly fcab rtab
    hotchkins bigger anti roll bars
    recaro pole postion (6kg each ! yes M sport electric seats are very heavy 60kg saved ) home made exhaust (10kg saved )
    many trim panels and other parts removed ( carpet , aircon, navsat, radio door panels 80kg saved )
    total 150kg saved , (around 1200kg now ) probably the lighter 3.0si e86 and car is much faster

      @z4funkdreamer986 3 года назад +1

      Foot to Pedal .. yes friend please also note that 1kg saved on unsprung weight (wheels hubs calipers or rotors ) is equivalent to 5kg saved on the chassis so with this theory as i saved 5kg/wheel or 20kg for the 4 wheels with apex (oem M or 108 wheels are 13,5kg each and apex 8,5kg each ), the car is equivalent to a 1100kg car
      now
      next plan is to upgrade with bc racing coilovers , glass fiber bonnet and wings , stoptech discs which are 2kg lighter than my oem 325mm disc (again 8kg saved on unsprung wheels = 40kg saved on the chassis )
      maybe can reach a 1050kg car with 275hp which is ratio of 3.8kg/hp as my car has had ethanol reprog
      i have currently 4,2kg/hp which is better ratio than M coupe (4.4kg/hp)
      so now question is why don’t choose a M ?? because too expensive and s54 is too heavy on the front axle . my 3.0si si is very well balanced 50/50 front and rear as n52 is very light engine

    • @FootToPedal
      @FootToPedal  3 года назад +1

      Yeah thats very interesting and totally agree with what you're saying. You have a very good power to weight ratio there. As you say, the N52 is a very light engine which puts it ahead of the S54. If you are able to get 275hp and an 1100kg weight figure that car will absolutely fly, no doubt about it!

    • @FootToPedal
      @FootToPedal  2 года назад

      The E85 Roadster had a torsional rigidity of 10,700 lb-ft per degree of body twist compared with 24,000 lb-ft per degree of body twist in the Coupe - so it's over 2x the torsional rigidity. If you mean the E89 hardtop roadster, I'm not 100% sure on the torsional rigidity of that but ultimately as soon as you remove the roof it will compromise rigidity significantly. I can say that the E86 chassis feels incredibly rigid from all the miles I've done in mine. I think the Coupe is worth going for if you can find one, for the rarity factor if nothing else and then of course the timeless design. Thanks for watching!
