I will be trying this recipe. I usually make cabbage rolls with regular cabbage and hamburger and my soup I use tomato soup and diced tomato from the can. I mix the hamburger meat with cooked rice and round onion. Thank you for sharing you family recipes.
My Hawaiian Friends in Oahu! It's so wonderful to see what local Hawaiian friends cook and eat in their homes, especially on Thanksgiving and St.Patrick's Day. I used to be a regular visitor to Waikiki, it was twice a year for about twenty years, all the way from London, England. I enjoyed going to Downtown Honolulu and across the Island trying local restaurants and foods, including Pork Adobo and Poke. We were a gang of four foodies, two were from Waikiki. We would try out a different restaurant every other night. Consistently good restaurants were, Assagio, Hee Hing and US Army Hotel in Waikiki, Hake Koa. I only discovered you in the last week, when I was looking for a recipe for Shoyu Chicken. Apparently, it's common in Hawaii. Hence, you turned up on the search list. I look forward to watching much more of you. You make a great team. It feels like being back in Waikiki, Honolulu. Enjoyed your Sweet and Sour Won Bok Rolls. Take care. God bless you all. Perry
I love when you have family members as guests! These were a favorite in our family as well. My friends called them Asian cabbage rolls. 😄 “Why don’t you cook together in the kitchen?” “Because we fight.” “There can only be one boss!” Yup. Hahaha!
Your Aunty and Uncle crack me up! I so enjoyed this video and can’t wait to make this. I watched Midnight Diner on Netflix and they made cabbage rolls. Are these the same?
Aloha Cari. What a great recipe. I watched this video with my Mom and though she doesn't talk as much anymore, we did agree this made us think about an Eastern European dish called stuffed cabbage (made with ground beef and rice as the stuffing and then the sauce was tomato base with raisins, sort of sweet and sour tasting). Mahalo for your terrific videos with your family!
Hi Cari, Thanks for putting these all together! Everything sounded so ono! Did someone say how the eggplant was prepared? I thought I heard steamed then add shoyu and sesame oil. Was that correct? I have a bunch of nasubi growing I was looking for different ways to prepare. I usually grill then just add shoyu.
Its great you have a close knit family
Thank you!!!
Can't wait to try this recipe..😋😋

Maybe my favorite family. Such harmony!

Thanks Miles! Uncle Warren steamed the eggplant and just added shoyu and sesame oil at the end. Just shoyu works great too!
