Another great review Jon. I have this kit in the stash, purchased from my local hobby shop for $27AUD ($18USD) which is an amazing price for such a kit. (I have Zoukei Mura's Ta-152 H for 3 x this price, great kit but lots of extra work of which how much is seen?). It would be interesting to compare ZM's Ta152 series to HB's release of the same. I do like how HB throws in a few less common types such as the Romanian IAR80. Kudos too for showing that Scale Modelling can be a viable hobby for all without spending bucket loads of cash, while producing excellent results. I recently read about medical research that has shown that people such as jewellers, scale modellers etc who do a lot of fine work tend to stay sharper and are less prone to dementia etc. They say it's the old "if you don't use it, you lose it" idea. (And a good walk after a long period at the workbench is also recommended!) Cheers 🦘🦘🦘
Thanks Matt! I have built the HB Ta-152C and will review it in the future. It was an easy build and looks good on the shelf. I also have the Italeri Ta-152H (former Tri-Master/Dragon) kit that will get reviewed. I'm sure the ZM kit is amazingly detailed, though I've never gotten to inspect one in person. There are so many great kits out there at reasonable prices. If you're patient and shop pre-owned, you can do really well. You bring up so many great points in this post! I agree with what you've said! Cheers from Pennsylvania
Never built a HOBBY BOSS kit From what I see, it looks like a great kit, NICE DETAILS… I think anyone would enjoy building this kit… GERMANY did design some great aircraft, LEGENDS You do a great job with your reviews, glad I subscribed I’ll keep watching CHRIS from OHIO 🇺🇸 Have a great weekend……
Good questions, Joseph. I may do a follow-up video once this one is complete. Landing gear stance is better than the Tamiya. I'm not sure about the level of accuracy on the prop and spinner at this time, though they look good at first glance. I have several kits of the 190D and will be doing more reviews and comparisons in the future.
I have built the Eduard and have this kit at primer, The Eduard has slightly better surface detail and would be better for doing the gun bays open, IMHO if you combine buildability with the detail that's there this is the best 190 d9 out at this time.
Hobby Boss also has a few Ta152-C model kits (no Ta152-H, though!), very similar to the 190 D’s… all great value. I think the eduard WEEKEND edition kits of this type are better models, also at a lower price (here in the Netherlands). The old TriMaster/Dragon model is not a bad kit, available as a re-box by Italeri.
I've watched at least 20 of your videos at this point and I was wondering if you recommend gluing the top part of the wings for beginner? I'm curious if that would be the way to go.
That's a great point! It's probably easier for a beginner to glue the wing halves together first, and then attach the wing assembly. Personally, I just want to avoid any potential problems in this highly-visible and difficult-to-correct area. Cheers!
Goog looking kit. The cockpit nicely detailed. Makes me want to try a Hobby Boss kit. I did buy an Eduards, limited edition BF 109 kit for investment or future build. It's 1/72 and amazing detail, it even has etched metal parts They are so small I have no idea how to work with them, especially in cockpit which at this scale is difficult to get my thumbs in :-) I've noticed the the decal sheets are coming back with full Swastikas . However some are doing them like your Hobby Boss and splitting them in half, they look like question marks, which will be interesting to try and " assemble". I'll be in need of a 190 kit to match with my Tamiya 109 soon and think I'll take a look at the Hobby Boss.
Hello and greetings from Germany, thank you for this review. I have built the Hobby Boss FW190 D12 in 1:48 scale some years ago and i think that Hobby Boss has done a great job. The only additions i made were seatbelts from Eduard, the landing gear indicators on the upper wings and the missing decals(registration code) for the lower wing. It went all together with only minor fit issues at the wing roots. Compared to the over engenired Edward Kit i would allways recommend the Dora 9 from China.
I love your comparison reviews! Keep them coming.
Thank you Lucas!

Have a great weekend……
Thanks Chris! I'm passing through Ohio now headed west for vacation.
You are incredibly prolific. V well done posts
Thank you!
How do you rate the landing gear "stance" on the completed model. Is the prop shape, spinner, cowl & radiator accurate?

Right on Bob! I think it just might be for most modelers.

Right on! They really are a good value and a pain-free build. Cherrs!
Our stashes overlap a great deal--probably because we both seem to focus on WW2-era fighters in 1/48.
Right on! If only I could build as fast as I buy...

Right on Volker! I will be reviewing the Eduard kit in the future, but I agree with you - HB did a nice job with this kit. Cheers!
