The S20FE has a 3X telephoto lens and not 2X which means it wasn't using it in your last video comparison

Really don't get why everyone bashes pixel's video, it looks excellent.
I know I think my pixel 4 takes better quality video at 1080 than most 4k do.. I thought I was only one that noticed. I mean to show I am honest ... Iphone takes amazing video but I would never buy one. Pixel takes amazing shots I been using one since the pixel 3.. also use Samsung though .. Samsung takes great video with my s10 but for still shots I use my pixel. Check out abandoned_nevada@insta for pics taken from pixels. Also mike_c775@instagram.

9:04 , 9:08 , 9:12 , 9:36 S20 FE just crushed it in night mode, colors can be tweaked easily even in google photos but cannot bring back details.
Samsung is crap, pixels handles everything like a king. Google's technology is far more advanced than samsung crap R&D.

Hey Sam - loving all your content lately! Just upgraded from a Pixel 2XL to the Pixel 5. Loving the phone, except I've noticed that when using the camera, there is a noticeable amount of noise/grain on screen / in photos. It seems like they're worse than pictures on my Pixel 2XL. Do you think this is a software issue or a hardware issue? Kind of perplexed tbh 🤷♂️
Pixel 2 XL owner here. My unit is still going strong but the hype around Pixel 5 is getting to me. Why would I change though? Is it that big of un upgrade? Mine is still snappy, photos are great and battery good enough. Maybe better wait for Pixel 6?

What would you say is better for camera specs p30 pro or the pixel 5 I had the s20fe and returned it to go back to the p30 series but the pixel I'm extremely interested in the camera.
I’ve been a die hard android user for nearly 8 years. More specifically Samsung phones. After such a long time with Samsung I decided to have a change and get the new iPhone 12. While this phone is blazing fast, camera is awesome, battery life is way better than my other phone, I still feel completely lost with out my android. I’ll hold onto this iPhone 12 for the next few months until the s21/s30, whatever they call it, then I’ll be getting that.

Does S20 FE allows to use telephoto lense for portrait shots?

The Pixel 5 is in that weird place where it's super impressive in terms of camera performance as long as you never, ever zoom in on a photo or try to pixel peep, but it can't hang with any other midrange or flagship phone if you zoom in on photos AT ALL. The software outgrew the hardware a couple years ago. I bought the Pixel 5 and the Note 20 Ultra trying to decide which I wanted to keep. On the Note, looking at the photos versus the same taken by the Pixel, the Pixel wins. But again, if you zoom in to 100% on the photo, the detail holds up on the Note. Viewing the photo taken by the Pixel at 100% it falls apart entirely. Suitable for social media but nothing else, where the same results or better can be had with the Note and lightroom and you can actually make use of the photos. Which I hate, I can't stand OneUI and I can't stomach iOS.
Imagine what the Pixel could do if they had updated the camera hardware to go along with the amazing computational abilities rather than rest on their laurels and stick with the same hardware they've used since what, the Pixel 2? They've fallen behind but I hope on the 6 they get back up there. Really going to miss stock android and the pure google experience.
The Pixel takes such good photos because they have stuck with the same hardware and they keep improving the software...
The Samsung FE crushed it! I have the Note 20 Ultra 5G and I LOVE the phone! Camera and ALL...but I've owned all Notes since 2! And I'm done buying Notes if they (Samsung) start forgetting about the Note line for their Foldable line! The Note changed not just Samsung (to now in line and beating Apple in a lot of ways) to revolutionizing ALL cell phones! We all have bigger flatter phones bcuz of the Note! Because of Samsung...that was made fun of, called ridiculous etc... and take a look around!!! Follow the Leader... and the leader is Samsung! Imo

I just copied my long comment from the video lol...now I hated TouchWiz and couldn't get Nova Prime up and running fast enough... but OneUI has really come around and is very modern imo. But either way you can't beat the Note 20 Ultra 5G! It's a mini computer, notebook,phone, music player, movie consuming monster! Lol that just happens to let you shoot raw photos and try SnapSeed for quick edits!

Very good in depth comparison. I like both & there very good. I use the 4xl so the five, to me it's really not an upgrade. But I did buy the FE, for my uses it's just a better equipped phone. The 865, 120hz display plus DEX & micro s/d. For my 💰 the FE wins the day. The best 📷 review to date!
Literally looking at buying one of these phones. So hard to decide on the s20fe as the best all rounder and the Pixel better portrait and selfie quality.
I wanted the Pixel but I ended up making a trade in for my phone with a S20FE and I really like it...after using only iPhones since 2009(3G) untill about two months ago. Cheers.

I just got the Pixel yesterday without first knowing your video on the comparison. Right after I bought the Pixel, I ran into a dealer that was selling the Galaxy with lots of bonus. Then I came to know of the S20 FE. But the pricing and availability are confusing from different dealers and terms, etc.
On hindsight, I feel OK with the Pixel but would prefer a larger screen size on Galaxy. The struggle is also in different personal preference of what is important and price, etc.
The thing I really like about the pixel is the way it handles skin tones. Samsung phones take great scenery pics, but they make skin look washed out.

Am I crazy that I preferred the 2x video crop from the pixel better than the crop from the FE? I believe he thought the FE's was optical and had to say it was better just for the sake of it, great content anyway!
Optical kicks on 3x zoom.
Shutter lag is why I switched back to the Pixel. In well lit situations it not too bad, but in lower light and dealing with people it really shows. Great review!
Change your exposure in the camera app if it's taking long to save images its capturing...

Just because I don't want to manually change a setting for a quick point and shoot moment with my phone doesn't mean I don't know how to use it or the app. You do get the whole idea of "point and shoot", right? I guess you just wait around with things set all the time, but what about the unexpected moments (kids, animals, life, etc). Oh wait, your settings can and probably need to change for almost every situation. For the record, I have a Nikon DSLR(D series)and have used them for 20 plus yrs, so I know how to manipulate the settings on a phone app.... I'm not sure what gave you the empowering feeling of replying to a month old post with such a basic answer, but OK you got me...

I don't know why you're offended because my using "ignorance" to describe things you ignored is kinda literal and factual. I, too, am ignorant to a lot of the phones functions. And it's not that the phone is incapable... I just didn't stop to try to learn how it works in it's entirety.

And a DSLR camera and a phone camera are very different. From a professional perspective, I can respect that you use nikon, lol so do my fiance and I since 2010, but I'm no pro at it... but I know phones don't have shutter speed problems. Their camera functions aren't as mechanical or intricate as a DSLR, its literally just "program it to capture quicker", except it doesn't work on night mode.

I appreciate your work.. I have only watched your two videos about comparison between pixel 4 camera and pixel 5 and this video. I was expecting you to show pixel 4 telephoto portrait vs pixel 5 portrait. And here also FE telephoto lense portrait vs pixel 5 portrait. Because From a photographer point of view, phone makers given telephoto lense to take good looking portrait photo isn't it. Not to zoom somewhere. I hope you compare those also. Thank you.

I will say both are great camera phones but the Galaxy s20 fe wins in my book for that epic zoom and night mode so also the reason I have bought one and so far loving it alot
Samsung are closer this year to the Pixel, but I still think the Pixel has a slight edge, but the gap is much less now between the two. I still prefer the Pixel look over the Samsung and the Pixel experience still wins in the end. Excited to see the new camera hardware Google will use on the 6, given how well the 5 performed with the same sensor since the 3!

I don’t understand why Google let reviewers have the pixel 5 so early before release. By the time they are available to purchase everyone will be wanting to go for the iPhone 12 for almost the same price

For the astrophotography section you should've used a 30 second exposure in pro mode for the S20 FE instead of just the night mode... when I do that I get night sky photos on par with or better than Pixel astrophotography mode :/

There is a Pro mod in Samsung s20fe, we can do anything through that manually, we can take better photos than pixel

What Android phone(s) would you recommend for best video that came out this year? It seems that iPhones tend to do the best video to my untrained eye, but I'm just not sure I want to jump back into the Apple wagon.
If price isn’t an issue, then the Note 20 Ultra is incredible. Otherwise it’s probably a toss up between these two phones.

Not a fan of Samsung's fake colors or the fisheye effect of the ultrawide...For me the Pixel wins hands down in the camera department The FE is still a great device it just isn't for me But l know Alot of people love it Thanks for the comparison! 👍👊
I agree regarding the fake colors. The balanced color saturation was the key factor that made me pick the pixel. Samsung always oversaturates green colors and blue will always turn cyan.
Interesting. Here in Brazil the Galaxy s20 FE is half of the price in comparison with Pixel 5 (that we have to import). Samsung Brasil is making a really good job bringing such great phones with prices that fit better to the brazilian market. I would prefer buy a Pixel 5, because of the camera, but with this price comparison I think Galaxy S20 FE it's the better choice for me. It's a shame that Google isn't giving such attention to my country. I had to import even my Google TV / Chromecast :/
I love Google software and I'm enjoying gcam on my Samsung A70, but I would go with the fe because it gives you more for your money, pixel 5 has only slightly better camera and stock android, the fe on the other side has way better screen, better performance and better battery life
I own both phones and I got the Pixel 5 to replace the FE due to the battery life being horrible and the camera being slow as molasses. For me, the only place the FE kills it is the screen, it's beautiful. I've gone 7am to 2am on the Pixel and still had like 38% battery left with 5h45m SOT, I have a screenshot I shared on XDA if people need to see it. Also, I have the screen touch issue on the FE.

@@harisankard1404 I couldn’t tell you anymore. I jumped ship to iPhone about 3 months ago. All I can say is that it lasted forever and charged pretty quick.

9:58 - I was surprised you didn't mention the most obvious difference between those shots...the color. The Samsung one looks like it has a yellow tint over the whole image. This is a recurring theme in your video...you focus on the resolution/sharpness but not the color differences, which (IMO) are a lot more obvious.
11:31 - Wow...The Galaxy mic sounds awful. The Pixel mic was completely clear. But the Galaxy mic has tons of wind distortion.
I prefer the Pixel audio. Most of the time when I take video I am not going for "natural" I am going for "clear". Especially in windy conditions like the conditions in a lot of video you took. I prefer the Pixel stabilization, and especially the color balance...all the Samsung video looks like it has a yellow filter over it or something, which I found offputting.
He skimmed over the low light night mode segment where the S20 FE crushed the Pixel which is considered low light king? Pixel wins in night mode portrait which is a feature that the S20 FE doesn't have. And also S20 has Pro video mode for exact white balance (keeping everything else in auto). Also the crop on the pixel is massive!
@@DeepteshLovesTECH Crop is due to the stabilisation from EIS. You can turn that setting off to get a wider FOV and shoot with just the OIS in the phone.

Spec for Spec the @Samsung #S20FE5G trounces the @Google #Pixel5.
The S20FE5G has its work cut out when in the AI, software and processing department. The Pixel 5 still takes the best photos. But when it comes to #Zooming the S20FE5G is prime.
In the video department, I think the S20FE5G has done a better job.
At this time, the S20FE5G is my #dailydriver and opted-out of the Pixel 5.
I'll wait to see if Google ever releases a #Pixel5XL edition with prime specs and will hold onto the #Pixel3XL a little longer.
Damn you missed it! 2x is not optical! The 3x video would've looked miles better! 2x is basically a crop! Also you are a pro, so you could've used the pro mode for photos!
pro mode on the s20 fe will get you brilliant Astro shots
But he doesn´t test for pros - he is testing for average user, and they use auto mode.
Clear the cache and data for the camera app.... That should fix it 👍🏻

THE S20 FE IS THE MORST COMPELLING PHONE OF THE YEAR with 95% of the ultra features. And just because its at a midrange price, doesn't mean its a midrange phone. If thats the case, than the iphone 11 at 699$ is also a midrange phone
I have the s10+, trade in value is $450, making the price 250$, plus a 70$ credit that they give you to put towards another product . HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT !!!

Only low light matters, even budget phones can shoot good images in good lighting.

The reason why the samsung phone is always brighter than other phone cause its Korea brand phone, and asian like us tend to like brighter skin color instead of darker color, if you see asian review the camera, they will prefer Samsung camera than other brand.

I am using S10 and I think, Samsung's photo and video processing is messed up especially with dynamic range, over exposed, and super grainy videos especially in dark scenarios.
BUT all of these issues are gone if I use the PRO mode for photo and video. Waaaaaay much better.
Samsung needs to step up and fix their processing algorithm.
For the price and specs Pixel 5 has I'd avoid it all together. Really leaves a lot to be desired in the price range. Maybe this year they won't use a crappy midrange chip and get everything right.
