It has taught me Not to worry about what others think (negatively)about me deciding to take this journey I’m only 6 weeks in and I’ve already been told that locs are ugly! Asking me why?because I have nice hair Telling me locs are for lesbians!! Chile! Lol I’m loving my journey and blocking out the negative
My journey has taught me to retwist when it’s needed. I have went as long as six months without a retwist and honestly that’s not good, well for me. I have soft hair anyway and in turn I have tons of loose hair. Going without a retwist has resulted in my hair not staying with its loc. My hair grows away from the loc which not only gives me hella frizz, but results in a couple locs not having the strong foundation I started out with. Mainly the locs on each side of my head.
Thank you for the update! It's been such a blessing to see you grow so much. Both in hair and just as a person. You look beautiful and your locs do too. My journey has taught me that locs don't have to be perfect, they have to be yours, and that's pretty perfect to me.
Your locs are still lovely, you got me through the rough stage (thank you) i began my current journey 5-2-19 a continued loves loc journey for all of us!
Haven’t even watched yet but I agree! I started watched her around 3/4 months which was rough, she’s only some months ahead of mine so I’ve been able to journey with you Dae which was super helpful!
been watching your vids a lot as im currently 1 month into my loc journey. Used to just do braids and realized too late it was messing up my hair. Your vids have been a massive help, thanks for all the help sis !
You have really encouraged me through my loc journey. I started the same year you did 2019 July. I've been following you for almost 3 years. Thank you for all of your help.🙏🏼😇🥰🤗💯
Also, don't cut the back! I have lint at the back to and though it annoys me, I'd just use a tweezer to pick them out and wrap the loose hairs around it once I'm done. It's helpful somewhat.
my journey has been teaching me to take way better care of myself and stop prioritizing dumb stuff lol. i agree that the wake and go nature of locs leads to "forgetting" about them, as i sit here separating married locs 🙄 i definitely have slid into a don't care what i look like mode due to the parallelogram that i absolutely need to break out, of so i can find my husband. shoot.
Hi Dae, awesome update! Have you tried brushing your locs to get rid of the lint? I've seen other RUclipsrs use a medium/hard bristle brush to remove lint and it worked well.
Hey Dae! I have been watching you for awhile now and I love your locs. We both have the same Loc count. Watching your journey, I have attempted to retwist my hair on my own that lasted two days🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️. I also locked my daughters hair because of you, Linda Elaine and to cut down on time doing hair. I love your Loc content. Keep up the excellence.💙💚
Hey girl! I've been following you since the beginning of my two strand twist loc journey, 7/6/19. I too have experienced thinning around the edges. I have square parts and I feel like I should of paid attention to my parting size just a lil bit better (this is my 1st loc journey). Don't feel bad about cutting the ones that you just can't look at. I have done the same thing, felt terrible afterwards, then realized it's just hair and it will grow back. I started to semi freeform around February/March of this year and my locs have been doing much better! Thank you for all the fab tips you give us, it is highly appreciated sis! 🤍
Bruh I’m ready to cut mine… Storytime: When I first started off I had freeforms (Afro), then I got a retwist (2 Strand) when the lady did it a lot of hair was on the floor but I shrugged it off fr. Then after a month I didn’t keep it in too long bc I didn’t want my locs too big starting off. I then went to another lady who made my two strands a little smaller. After a couple months they were looking good and was growing fully. I used to leave in my rubber bands for styling and sleep with it in at night (big mistake) 🤦🏾♂️ I thought it was making my hair grow, I had little to no clue about locs. Didn’t know how to keep up with them and things not too do. So then I got another retwist at least Thats why I thought it was and the locs were even smaller this time. After months go by I can see them starting to thin and I began to have some spots on my head. I also had to cut some of them off in the front bc my loc look like it was just going to fall off 😢 I let my hair grow with no retwist all last year (2022) I’m in need of help bc now my forehead look huge, which it already was. & a couple other locs are starting too thin and I think it’s my roots. Should I cut it off or start all over? Mind you this is from Oct 2021-2023.
I started my journey in April. Same issue I had as a loose natural was not moisturizing enough. Lol I work long hours and so much that I put it off. I've been keeping my own oil mix ready. On another note: I need another alternative to metal clips for re-twist. My hair is getting tangled in them and causing breakage.
Bc of lint I dyed my back row jet black then went and dyed my whole head black and I’m loving it, now the lint sticks out lol. I gotta start covering my head more but I love my hair 🧡
I’ve been following you since I started last January and I’ll be a year in on the 11th and let me say I only use rose water a oil mixture I made myself and aloe that’s it and I don’t use it all the time.
My locs is about 1 year 6 months. My hair has grown in volumes but length is slow. I need your advice on simple and natural products that I could apply on my hair to give it length and softness. Also 2 of my locs have become too thin. What should I do to manage them. I so not want to cut them. Thanks
@@daelocs i thought the same but i had a damn epiphany! You kno when you take all that lint out the lint catcher in the dryer. Thats whats in our locs just from rubbing against a damn cotton shirt daily
You are in the compacting stage probably! Locs shrink alot too and they kinda fill out get dense before growing long. Use rose water and a oil that works for you its growing you just dont notice yet
Hey! I'm a newbie. When you say you're down to oil and water only, does that just mean day-to-day between retwists? Or does that include when you do retwists? Is it possible to do a retwist with just water and oil?
Hey! Congrats on your new journey! I only use oil and water to retwist as well. I use different oils for different needs. A thin oil for moisturizing and a thick oil for retwisting 💖
Just split some of them! I've combed some of my out and just split them. (Turned them into two new locs) if you want more on your entire head then yes you would have to start completely over but if some are just a bit too big or something I just split mine :).
It’s when cut the back of your hair. Shave it. Some people get designs as well, so when you put your hair in a pony tail, you can see it. Usually the last 1-2 rows.
What has your journey been teaching you lately? Mine has been teaching me to be intentional about everything I do.
PATIENCE and embracing my beauty (inside & out). Also, per usual-beautiful Dae!
@@Melanin_Mel4 love it!!
Yes! My journey has taught me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder...for real!! I love every stage regardless of what others have said. 😊
Patience Definitely & Consistency!!

You think retwisting more often help with the locs growing away from the loc ?? I have the same problem
Same i have 4a/4b hair 🥺 and my hair is always fuzzy
Girl yes I have also learned this and now I retwist when needed and it actually is helping my roots

Brushing only works if the lint is on the surface of the locs if it is already part of locs it isn’t going to work
Your locs are looking great! I thought you had some extensions at first. Don't cut the back, I don't see any lint.♥️🧡

Try using a board head brush to remove lint
Use a Boars head brush to remove lint
I'm sure you've heard this already but try brushing your locs for the lint
Wow!! Your locs are flourishing and getting so long😍 #goals

An undercut is def maintenance… i don’t recommend. I ended up adding extensions to the back
Wowww thanks for your input! I love the way it looks but I always knew it would be a lot
Hey. DaeLLoc, what song is that playing in the background, I'ts nice.
What color is that in your hair? It looks nice.
You are so beautiful 😭
Brushing down the length of your locs will help with the lint, not the roots of your hair just the length
I did that a lot in my first journey! And even though it did help, I just need to stop wearing the knit scarves now that my hair is too my shoulders 💖
I know that sucks, I try to wear mine up more during these months
