Thanks for making this video. I was on the fence about ordering this kit or not until I seen this video. I ordered the kit and next week I should be building my first pedal!

Speaking of fuzz, I really would like to reclaim that feeling of a blue clipper cranked up. I had an original Dan Armstrong way back in the 70s and I know I have no idea what happened to it but I miss it. I don’t know if you take request - but if you do, please make a pedal based on the circuitry of a blue clipper.

I'm wondering if you could play around with the different types of diodes to get different types of sounds? I have a bunch of different diodes that I've used to make "black ice" type mods in guitars, and they each have their own character, so figured it might work the same here? Thanks!

For any dirt pedal with clipping diodes, yeah go for it! The only diode in the fuzz face pedal in the video is a reverse polarity protection diode (1n5817). You could change it out but it won't significantly alter the sound. Might just voltage sag the circuit a little bit more. I'd say save your diodes for an overdrive pedal.

When doing PCB layouts how do you make sure the traces and the wires to the pots and jacks aren't going to create more noises, hiss, crosstalk, oscillations because of gain circuits? its very easy to cause oscillations with gain circuits and the component layout have to follow rules which you should go over in a video lesson

I got this kit and tried to build it but I think I was thrown off by the diagram being used 5:48 instead of actual video footage. I was confused by a couple things (altho I see the necessity for making that move in order to differentiate between the different wires by color coding).. the orientation of the pcb while wiring up in relation to the bottom of the switch was a big question mark.
also, this diagram doesn't depict the fuzz circuit so that threw me off.
this is the first time I've tried to build a guitar pedal, so my perspective is from that of a total beginner.
I had to remove and re-solder several components and the end result was a silent pedal when turned on!
I'm already a loyal customer, tho and also bought the Klon kit. looking forward to sorting this all out and also, lastly, want to express my gratitude to you for putting in this effort to help aspiring pedal freqs take their awkward first steps.
    cheers

Thank you for creating this kit and posting the video. I'm wondering: I want to do the bias mod where I have a knob on the pedal that allows me to change the bias for q2 and an internal pot to change the bias for q1. Does that make sense and if so can I do that here. Total noob here but I saw JHS doing this mod. Thank you for your time

This is very much do-able for Q2. Replace the trim pot on the circuit board with wires going to a full size pot (B10k, same as the trim pot). Drill a hole in the enclosure and mount the pot so you can adjust it on the outside.
If you want to bias Q1, it would require a bit more work but still do-able. Replace the 33k resistor with a potentiometer wired as a variable resistor. You would also need another resistor in series to avoid overloading and frying Q1.

Well, i went to buy one of your kits, and apparently its $107 minimum to post a $39, 50 gram package of components to Australia? If you dont want to sell overseas, just say you don't want to sell overseas.

Sorry, that's frustrating! Depending on your location, the shipping quotes can be very expensive from UPS/FedEx. However, yes, we are focused on our USA customers and businesses outside the USA. Thanks for your interest!
