I have CKD and was at 17 GFR a year ago even with restricted amount of meats & fish diet as recommended. Since then I decided to change to vegetarian diet after talking to my nephrologist. I wanted to prolong and stabilize my kidneys function as long as I can. Since then it went from 17 GFR to 20 GFR within 3 months. I am now at 21 GFR. I cook my own food and stick with healthy diet with lower sodium, whole foods, tofu, beans, garbanzo, lots of vegetables. I do have cheat days here and there but I am very limited to what I want to eat in small portion. I hope this helps.
That is wonderful!! My GRF is now at 20 and I’m scared to death. My doctor sees me every 3 months and does bloodwork but has never sent me to a specialist or dietician.

I have learned more on youtube than from any doctor. One thing to keep in mind is your phosphorus intake. I first started seeing a kidney doc several yrs ago, trying to improve my kidney function naturally...and not one doctor ever mentioned reducing how much phosphorus I take in. 2 different primary care physicians, 2 different nephrologists, and a 2 day and 5 day hospital stay....nobody has ever mentioned phosphorus. I learned that right here on youtube from people like the good Dr. Frita. Phosphorus is in a lot of foods...especially packaged foods. And even healthy things like nuts, seeds, and chickpeas. How come no doctor in several yrs has ever mentioned that! Its been drug after drug after drug after drug! Thank you for the work that you do Dr. Frita!!
Thank you for your time and information. My name is Steven and a diabetic. My Dr has just informed me that my kidney function has dropped suddenly to a 49; and mentioned that I’ve been at a 65 for a very long time and I want to do everything I can to avoid dialysis in the future. From your video I now know what specifics to address with my Dr when I see him on June 15th. Again thank you for caring enough to make a video Steven Hernandez
Thank you for taking the time to offer this information. I have Alport Syndrome and am currently stage 4 with a GFR of 28-32 the majority of the time. I have no swelling at all and usually stay pretty dry despite my fluid intake. I was told to intake up to 80 ounces a day, but not necessarily all water because it tends to wash down the sodium and make it low. Of course not everyone is the same, but we all end up at the same conclusion. All of these tips are helpful, and should be followed as closely as possible. I have stated off failure for about 7 years doing all of these things. Stay blessed friends!
I was diagnosed through a recent blood test my infiltration rate was just below 6. The only recommendation from my physician was step 5 - increase water intake. Your other steps are gratefully acknowledged. Thank you. 👍👍👏
I am a type 2 diabetic and I am doing my best to stay on top of my illness. Your advices in preventing kidney failure are very much appreciated. I can understand how you convey the info in layman’s language as I’m sure most of your listeners do. Thank you so much.
I have noticed two things when it comes to any dieting, especially when it comes to struggling to keep up with it. 1. Instead of focusing on what you CAN'T eat, you MUST focus on what you CAN eat :) this one ties into the psychology side of it. It will automatically make changing your diet much easier, because it is an optimistic approach. 2. It is important to change one's view on processed, unhealthy foods. Rather than reminding yourself that it's simply not good for you, you have to change your perspective on it entirely. Processed food is NOT food. You can even go as far as viewing it as poison. But simply viewing processed items as NOT FOOD will eventually help you not even crave crappy food anymore. In fact, the idea of consuming processed food will almost make you feel queasy, which is natural. :) I hope this helps anyone who struggles with diet changes. I promise these simple tricks will help tremendously! Good luck!
This channel is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I have a GFR of 33. I’ve been trying to find out what amounts of protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus I should be ingesting. Also, what amount of water I should be drinking. I definitely want to do what it takes to avoid dialysis. You are an excellent teacher and speaker. I’m a retired trauma nurse so I understood what you were saying. But, your explanations are very clear and concise for lay people? I’ll definitely watch your posts. Thanks, so much!

My wife also has problem with her kidney, so she is lowering salt intake and protein intake. Thank you for this good information. Wish everyone come here be healthy🙏
Hi Dr.FRITA. Great info, I have had ckd for over 10 years, and I would like to tell people never give up,remain strong, and discipline one's self. My GFR - 30-35 remained stable for 10 years + . When diagnosed with ckd i knew then i needed to change my lifestyle, my diet mainly consists of vegetables, red onions, salads ,fish, olive oil, nuts, green tea and water. Excluded alcohol, salt, sugar, red meat, coke etc. My nephroligist is amazed ,stable over 10 yrs . Love to all, never give up. PS,I wonder if my meditation and sun gazing has helped?? Who knows.
Thank you! Dr. F. I have had 2 heart attacks & stage 4 Kidney disease, & Osteoporosis, Thyroid disease it’s only by the grace of God I’m still here! Interesting my phosphorus is high now I realize why! Thank you! ❤️🙏❤️🙏👋🥰
You are smart to start a prevention mode! Wish I had had bloodwork done a few years ago when I found my blood pressure was off the charts. Randomly took it one day and it was 154/125. No symptoms (that’s why they call it the silent killer). Wouldn’t come down, took it several days and times of day sitting, standing, and lying them presented to my doc who immediately started me on BP meds. High BP is now what we think caused my kidney damage. I’m Stage 3A. Take care snd God bless!
Im grateful to come across your channel, Doctor! God bless you❤ my eGFR is 74, creatine is 0.90. No protein in my urine. My concern is the eGFR. I dont smoke, i dont drink alcohol, I regularly exercise (jogging + yoga) 3 times a week. I’m not obese, cholesterol & glucose in normal range, my blood pressure consider low. I’m 37yo. Mom of 2. I’m considering to change my diet and looking for the best diet to improve my eGFR.
Thank you doctor for such advice you couldn't have put it better it's so simple to understand what we should do in order to live a better life style and still enjoy life . Thank you so much again 🤗
Thanks for letting us know what to ask the doctor about what tests we should ask about ! I am a type 2 diabetic since 2007 and so many questions. Once again thanks for sharing this 👍🏽
The hardest thing at first was how bland everything was and how I felt trapped into such a restricted diet. As I began to adjust to the low sodium in my diet I started exploring different nuts, fruits and vegetables. This added some flavor and variety to my diet. One great side effect is that I lost 60 lbs in the first year on this diet.
Fantastic.I felt the same way when I started my journey 11 years ago.Now that my tast buds have changed with all the healthy eating I could never go back to the old way. My skin hair nails weight eyes whole body got better
Learned a lot. I am 68, male. I have hyper active desire to urinate. I found the cause....it was 8 cups of coffee, chocolate candy, soda drinks. I stopped all three and have almost eliminated my problem. I was interested in KIDNEY HEALTH and tuned into your video. Thank you for your video.

Excellent! Thank you! My mother has had uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes for years and it's now it's affecting her kidney function. This is very helpful and clear! Thank you so much!
Hello Doctor, on my wellness visit, lab found protein in my urine, and was told to drink six to eight glasses of water daily, which that’s all I drink daily. But I am still concern because I just turned 73 with a good medical record. Thank you so much for your input God Bless🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dr Fritz thank you for taking the effort to make every word count. We get exhausted watching long videos that say little. Yours are packed with critical information without fluff. 👍
@@suzih.6687 i’m not a medical person, but my understanding is it depends on your own blood results. Do you need to reduce potassium? Do you need to reduce phosphorus? Do you need to reduce proteins? Do you need to reduce sodium (that one’s a probable yes because most people get way too much sodium). It takes a while to work your way into a functional and healthier diet for kidney disease. In the meantime she did make some suggestions, eat some small portions of fish or lean chicken for protein. Fruits that can be good are pineapple, blueberries, red grapes. Some dietitians recommend white bread instead of whole wheat, white rice same. If you have eggs, just have the whites. Remember even the whites are high in proteins so don’t eat too many.
You are a god send. Finding your advice is going to help me SO MUCH. I am a mess and I really needed someone caring to inform me of what I need to do or not do. All I seem to get are prescriptions and tests, with no hope. Thank you for doing these videos.
I've changed the way that I eat, as I've been following the advice of Dr. Frida thank you so much I no longer use the salt shaker at the table , I've increased my water intake 60 oz a day.. I have limited carbs which turn to sugar , no red meat only fish, I treated myself to chicken .I'm reading labels more than ever . And Im walking as much as possible
Excellent explanation, thank you so much. My husband's GFR is 9% and creatinine is 5.38. He had the fistula operation ready for dialysis when he needs it. My GFR is 40%. I have Sjögrens Syndrome and fatigue and weakness are my constant companions. My husband is 83 and I'm 72. We have a good Nephrologist but no dietician. God bless you and your family for your goodness. Renu Roy from Germany.
I was happy to read your comment because my doctor seemed to indicate that I was too old for dialysis. I'm really disturbed about it. Although you are in Germany; sometimes i think my U.S. medical system wants to eliminate us old people.
@@grandmajane2593 , my husband started dialysis thricecacweek for 4 hours, two months ago at age 85, after kidney failure. It has given him a new lease of life. He has strength, energy and a fantastic appetite. Praise God.
I'm interested to hear about your husband. I'm in my 80's and my nephrologist said I'm too old for dialysis, he said dialysis is for young people.. I've been shocked by this attitude. Several times I have had occasion to think medical care is limited in my country (USA) for old folks. I may have to find another doctor, not sure what I will do. The best of luck to you and your husband. I have time left, not quite ready for dialysis.
@@grandmajane2593 my husband’s kidney readings were almost kidney failure. He would not have survived. He now has a new lease of life. Has an amazing appetite, lots of energy three days dialysis and three days he does shopping etc, he drives, he’s 85. We’re humbly grateful to our Heavenly Father.
All that recomendations applies to a Patient like me born with only one kidney or eutopic left kidney my egfr is 60-59, actually and i hace a Regularien diet, no salt or the minimal as posible, i see my Nephrologist once a year. I am 71yo. Thank you for your videos fantastic May God bleess you.

you are amazing! I wish you were my nephrologist .I learned more from this video than I learned from my doctors in 7 years. thank you so much. may God bless you.
Hi Dr. Frita! This video is amazing! I just watched your video because recently, I was diagnose with kidney disease. I have no HPN nor Diabetes but for unknown reason my creatinine is 1.5 and as for my creatinine clearance 61ml/hr and the my Doctor recommend that I should only drink water if I'm thirsty. I don't have any edema on my extremities. The only thing I'm taking right now is Sodium Bicarbonate for 3 months. I hope to hear from you soon. Godbless!
Thank you Dr. I'm undergoing hemodialysis now for 2 yrs and 4 months. When I started dialysis procedure I still have normal amount of urine but has swelling of both feet. After 5-6 months of dialysis my urine is gone. My Nephro recommended hemodialysis and I agree immediately that very day. I don't even understand why I'm CKD and what stage of CKD I am. Only on your very clear explanation that eGFR must be known. I only heard about it from you. Now I'm regreting I agree to undergo hemodialysis which can be avoided when I know my sGFR thru proper diet intake . I thought dialysis is a procedure that cures kidney disease.Thank you I know what to asked my Nephro doctor during consultation.
I have to drink 80 ounces of water daily, no other drinks are allowed. I am also on a strict diet, however doing those things has helped my kidney disease stay in check and I am feeling much better. At first the diet was very difficult, however after getting in that habit, I no longer have problems staying on it. The hardest thing to give up for me was nothing with baking powder or soda in it, cakes, cornbread and all that good stuff went out the window. Thanks for such an informative video.
Thanks ,Dr. Frita ! My GFR was 47 6 MO.Ago . My symtoms are all improved, by eliminating NSAIDS.ANDKeeping my BP IN CHECK. Had a re-check blood test a few days ago and have Dr. Appt. You are one ❤ classy lady ! I'm a natural man 😉😇
I have stage four kidney disease and have had it for several years. I watch my salt intake like a hawk . I feel my failure is the milk and colby jack cheese which i love. I went to a dietician who set me up with a renal diet. She allows me one ounce of cheese per serving.
I am a CKD patient for 4 years now. My doctor asked me to take corycep, once a week . It helped my kidney function. Previously my kidney function reading was 47%, it is now between 65% to 69%.
Thx Dr. Frita for these vids. Was diagnosed April 2022 w/ stage 4 CKD. Have high bp under control, no diabetes. Have always had swollen lower limbs. Nephrology said no more than 32oz of liquid/daily. That's difficult. Thru your vid, I have a much better understanding about diet restrictions they were showing me. Thank you.
Maybe I'm distracting. Aw. It's a little difficult to concentrate on how serious the thing is when such an intelligent, beautiful doctor is speaking. I hear the whole thing and my health is not "tops", so I hear it. But she's awesome too
Can I please have one of your dietary book please my address is 17 keats rd ws3 1ds walsall in uk initial is V B love how you take time to explain in all your comments thanks ever so much looking forward for one thanks
I was advised to eat according to my lab results. I'm lower in potassium and am stage 4 now. The same with phosphorus. I still worry about both, and watch how much I eat of both. I use chronometer to track these things. Your videos are so helpful! ❤

Good morning doctor. Thank you so much for letting us know things to do when it come to kidney infections. I just lost a colleague to kidney failure. She was asked not to take water, but she kept on saying she is thirsty and she went ahead to take much water, well her liver got infected too and there was no money for paying a donor and to do a transplant. It was to cost her eighteen million Naira and because of no help, she ran out of paying for dialysis two times in a week. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Thank you for this handy information.
Thanks for your video. I have a 71 range ml. I did blood test today. It’s said in my notes betweeen 60 to 90 indicates early kidney disease. I’m seeking the best approach to help and better my kidney. I don’t suffer from high blood sugar, nor diabetes. I’m 65 but years ago I was prescribed a med that’s taken off the market for it’s ability to cause cancer, by then I was on it for over 8 years. Had various symptoms such as blood in my urine. I’m trying to fix myself the best I can. Thank you

I am 72 soon will be 73 I am just now going to see a Dr for kidney disease Monday I will see what he has to say, those were great tips and I will put them to work
Thank you! I have been researching CKD and your presentation is one of the best I have seen yet. Excellent clarity on the issues you discussed.
Dr. Frita, I'm new to your channel. Thank you, for taking the time to educate your viewers. Most doctor's are to busy in their practice to take the time to educate the public. the best doctor ever!
Hi Dr.FRITA.
Great info, I have had ckd for over 10 years, and I would like to tell people never give up,remain strong, and
discipline one's self.
My GFR - 30-35 remained stable for 10 years + .
When diagnosed with ckd i knew then i needed to change my lifestyle, my diet mainly consists of vegetables, red onions, salads ,fish, olive oil, nuts, green tea and water.
Excluded alcohol, salt,sugar,red meat,coke etc.
My nephroligist is amazed ,stable over 10 yrs .
Love to all, never give up.
PS,I wonder if my meditation and sun gazing has helped?? Who knows.
Wow good for you
Four you take blood pressur pills.& heart and other med
Thts really great
Prayer certainly helps with everything. Really glad you're doing so well, GOD bless.
Do you still have chicken? I know you don't have red meat? Let me know please and thanks
Thank you Dr. Frita, very clear explanation. Young generation should have time to listen. May God bless you. Count me as your follower.
Thank you! Dr. F. I have had 2 heart attacks & stage 4 Kidney disease, & Osteoporosis, Thyroid disease it’s only by the grace of God I’m still here! Interesting my phosphorus is high now I realize why! Thank you! ❤️🙏❤️🙏👋🥰
how old are you brother.....and how are you keeping now....
Thank you. I do not have kidney disease but prevention is my motto,
Kidney
Thank you so much again 🤗
feel so blessed to have found you today as will make my job of explaining food choices to my husband!
thank you youtube
Wow.
Good morning 🌄. Thank you Dr. for explaining about potassium. Do you have video about thyroid . I love your videos 🙏🏿🙏🏼♥️
Awesome
I found that adding citrus juice or vinegars help with easing the bland flavor.
I love this woman. She is so informative.
Thank you, Dr Frita, for giving caring and sensible advice.
Ĺ
Thank you Dr.Frita most informative will help us all to live be healthier
Thank you Dr. Frita for educating us to live better. Thank you for this presentation on CKD diet.

Thank you DR.FRITA God bless you.
Very informative video doctor . Your explanations are lucid , detailed yet simple enough for a lay man like me to follow and understand. Kudos
Lucid? How do YOU calculate the grams of this or that in your food????
Excellent! Thank you! My mother has had uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes for years and it's now it's affecting her kidney function. This is very helpful and clear! Thank you so much!
thank DOC to your advice❤❤❤🥰🥰
Hello Doctor, on my wellness visit, lab found protein in my urine, and was told to drink six to eight glasses of water daily, which that’s all I drink daily. But I am still concern because I just turned 73 with a good medical record. Thank you so much for your input God Bless🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Best explanation ever for kidney disease.
Dr Fritz thank you for taking the effort to make every word count. We get exhausted watching long videos that say little. Yours are packed with critical information without fluff. 👍
What to limit or avoid in your diet is good to know, but what about things you can eat and are encouraged to eat more of? Thanks, Doc!
That's what I need. What CAN I eat other than radishes and cabbage. ☺
Seth Tenrec
Thank you
I love those foods
This doctor is very good explaining what to do,how to do it and who can do it
@@sethtenrec Why is pineapples, blueberries, and red grapes good for the kidney? What about oranges and grape fruit?
I wish u were my doctor im looking for one that actually cares
Thank you, Dr. Frita. I was diagnosed Stage 3 CKD. Your presentation was very helpful to me for picking the right food for my renal diet.
You are a god send. Finding your advice is going to help me SO MUCH. I am a mess and I really needed someone caring to inform me of what I need to do or not do. All I seem to get are prescriptions and tests, with no hope. Thank you for doing these videos.
Wow! Thank you soo much! I really need to watch my diet.
Praise God.
@@renuroy3888 - I'm happy to hear that, it gives me hope. Best of luck to you and your husband. : )
Thanks Dr Frita for this very informative lecture .Easy to understand and very useful for us with ckd ❤️

This has helped me a lot because of this video I have changed my eating habits greatly and made an appointment with my doctor .I’m 47and currently recovering from bladder infection and I seem to have all the symptoms of kidney disease but of course I’m not sure so Monday it’s off to the Dr
VERY SOUND MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE AND BROAD EXPERIENCE, GOD BLESS YOU BEAUTIFUL SISTER.
you are amazing!
Godbless!
I wish i had a doctor like her.....
Thank you Dr Frita. Those of us with kidney disease need expert, clear advice on how to live with this.
she's our hope!

Thank you. Crazy confusing at times. thought I was eating the right things, but you really do have to pay attention.
Thanks ,Dr.
Thank you Dr. Frita, we love you🌹🌹
Dr. Frita I just began watching your posts, and I really appreciate you saying what my Dr.s are not!
One of the best Dr in the world, thank you without limited, Allah SWT bless you. Ameen.

I am a CKD patient for 4 years now. My doctor asked me to take corycep, once a week . It helped my kidney function. Previously my kidney function reading was 47%, it is now between 65% to 69%.
Is it called Cordyceps? Could you send me the bottle that you take?
How long did it take for you to see results?

Wow! Did you have to change your diet?
Ty. God bless! my mom’s kidney function is 46 from 52 six months ago.
Thank you.
I appreciate your calm clarity and guidance. Thank you Dr. Frita.
Maybe I'm distracting. Aw. It's a little difficult to concentrate on how serious the thing is when such an intelligent, beautiful doctor is speaking. I hear the whole thing and my health is not "tops", so I hear it. But she's awesome too

Thank you for this video. Clear, concise, and easy to understand.
Thank you
Thank you for this valuable information. So clear and concise. Thanks Doc.
I have yet to meet my kidney doctor. 😩 I am having a hard time finding a nutritionist. I'm in Sun City Center FL
