Lol "shouldn't park his boat there".....parking space of 300.000 euros! It's a boathouse.

The boat place is a payed permanent home in the water, not a boat parking 😁

The boat they are talking about is a boat people live in. They have tons of these in amsterdam. These boats are set in one place and to place a urinal near it.... They should place that urinal somewhere else

12:18 The come up and go down really slowly so there is usually some city worker (like this one) standing by until it's ready. People have tripped over them. :)

Believe me, it happens more often as you might think.
Every year, an average of eighteen people drown in the canals in Amsterdam. They are often drunk men (British) who urinated in the canal from the quay and then fell into the water.

Charlie, if you are to drunk to stand straight, you are probably to drunk to realize you should stay away from the canals.
And just like in any other country, you can not just "piss on the street" (called wildplassen or wild peeing).
The British male drunk tourist reference is not even a joke, they are among the largest group of people getting into accidents in Amsterdam. They have been around sinds the 1860's, British drunk tourists were not the reason.
I never heard of "the Dutch Tiling System", he probably means that tiles were the prefered way of covering floors and walls when these were invented.
I have used the krul many times in my days but I am glad they are replaced by new modern variants that allow everyone to use them, not just men. Also, they are not limited to Amsterdam, you can find them in Utrecht as well and I bet Rotterdam, The Hague and many other places.

    This video lmao.
Who knew Americans were interested in our urinals. It almost feels like a documentary with the piano music.
Also not everything is correct imo but what do I know 😅

This video is Amsterdam orientated. Amsterdam is Holland not the Netherlands. Urinals were common overall, even in cities without canals. Most of them were placed near churches, you know were the cafés are. We had in our town a special one, near the train station. I could smell, leaving the station, I was in my home town. Not a krul but build of stone, small closed buildings with two open doors. (They were also in use for some people sexual needs). The local gouverment cleaned them maybe once a week, so you could smell them, from far away. Those are gone, but still,..... at the "openlucht museum" in Arnhem you can see the one of my city who was build near the train and bus station. A monument of the thirties , designed by our city architect Ing. Knuttel. No, not for use, sealed of with plexiglas an without his famous smell.

It was full of jokes, loads of people fall in the canal but the death ratio of brittish tourists is quite low. It's full of bikes at the bottom though so don't go diving in there. The concept that guys can't hold it is rather weird, just pee in the bar your got drunk at, but it's more due to not being able to make them stop peeing in the alleys that they needed the urinals.
Brittish tourists are known for being drunk but then they do that at home too. The women too, I remember this ad from the police warning the women to wear underwear because so many were peeing in the streets or passing out exposed. Dutch tourists also have a bad reputation themselves in other party countries

About nasty urinals imagine your aim is a bit off as well when your drunk. By the way you can't just piss anywhere in the Netherlands either. You will be fined if you get caught peeing against a tree, ally way or yes the canals. The urinals are more or less to prevent people from doing that, because people will do it. It is like our drugs policy. Still illegal, but we provide you something, which you can use.

As a Brit. I find this quite offensive. I know quite a few people who have visited Amsterdam and none of them behave the way described here. I've not been myself although I did go to Nijmegen some years ago.

The bad reputation comes from groups of young brits who come to Amsterdam to party. I'm sorry to tell you that they misbehave big time. I used to work at the Amsterdam tourist office and know because of that, that some hotels even refuse groups of british tourists because of there behaviour. Normal brits are ofcourse very welcome.
