  • The Toronto Blackout was part the northeast blackout of 2003 which threw millions of people into darkness. However, Toronto was hit harder than many other cities and experienced many delays in power generation, in some spots up to 4 days!
On that night, August 14th, 2003, downtown Toronto came together, with nothing else to do, people bbq'd, played music, shared stories and celebration together. And 20 years on, the annual Blackout Anniversary carries on to capture that energy year after year. The Anniversary captures the hearts and minds of hundreds and even up to a thousand attendees each year with amazing acts by bands such as Rambunctious, Samba Elegua, Maracatu Mar Aberto, Lemon Trubaci, Shout, Tamar Ilana Flamenco, Moskitto Bar, New Model Circus Army with pyro lead by Kagutsuchi Itto & many more.
And I welcome you to experience through my eyes of the 20th Anniversary party along with a little quick rundown of the power outage that occured all those years ago.
