She should’ve ended up with the other guy. He seems way nicer and actually wanted to look after her rather than be aggressive and nasty.
I wish some of these Chinese dramas would have the creativity to see the conflict to the proper end result. Boy massively embarrasses and offends girl, girl finds someone else and they become the end couple instead. Ode to Joy was one of the few Chinese dramas which allowed the girl to truly break up with a guy for good and end up with someone else. I hate that these abusive guys constantly get portrayed in the dramas as being worth being with. He is an abusive prick who loses his temper at the drop of the hat, he will keep abusing her for the rest of his life because it's his nature, he isn't going to change, he isn't going to get better. He will always be an abusive prick with a violent temper.

Watching random clips, it seems Gao Jie got the short end of the stick all around. How anyone has any more strength to face her woes make me admire her. From the sick mother, the weak father, death of grandpa and losing the one man she loved because of a one-sided judgement passed onto her plus the scheming and violent mother/daughter team who keeps tormenting her, someone weake would have gone crazy 🤪 by now.

Любовь побеждает месть, зло, разлуку, она состоит ни только из радости и счастья, а ещё из боли и разочарований. Так что совет и любовь❤️ им, как говорится 😁🤗

Я периодически возвращаюсь к этой дораме наслаждаясь игрой актеров. Мне понятна идея сценаристов, мир не так прост как нам часто кажется, а любовь и чувство вины иногда дают интересные сюжеты. Да, хочется плюнуть в оскорбившего и послать его ооочеень далеко, но в мире все не просто. Самое сложное это человеческие отношения и здесь очень трудно делать прогнозы. Упорство и труд и любовь...

I have only seen clips of this drama, because I wanted to check it out to see if it would be worth the watch. The reason that I stop watching these types of dramas is because all the guy has to do is say that I am sorry for treating the girl like she is less than nothing, and all is forgiven. I would love to see a drama where the guy doesn't get the girl back, because she gets with the guy who has been there for her all along and treats her how she deserves..

Какие-то садо-мазохистские отношения. Предал, унизил, бросил, отомстил, получил удовлетворение, затем раскаялся, извинялся, спасал, помогал. Потому что любит? Нет. Любовь - это не обладание, а наполнение. А герой именно хочет обладать, отнять у соперника и присвоить себе. Реально, сценаристам нужно с психотерапевтами советоваться, как выстраивать грамотные здоровые отношения между героями, а не больные отношения, которые в реальной жизни потерпят крах.

I would have a problem trusting him.....because he did her wrong.
This leading man was one of the worst lead characters ever. He tortured that poor woman to death, then he humiliated her by leaving her at the altar, AFTER he used a mike to tell the guests what a ho she was! The tragedy of this ENTIRE drama is, she goes back to him in the end. She forgave the jerk...what a sucker for punishment. A true masochist.

As much as I really like this drama this toxic relationship is just so bad. I feel bad for the FL and ML because they were both at fault for the collapse of this relationship for lying BUT the FL took way too much humiliation and crap from him. I understand that he came from a toxic family and has a problem with his step on that is her auntie but he didn't investigate and bottled up his suspicions and didn't talk it out with her. She didn't fess up her relationship with her auntie even though he gave her chances to tell him. She left him alone and went on with her life and he grew bitter and humiliated her when he did see her. He couldn't stand her being helped by Si Cheng who's love was more pure and he cared more for her. He gave her a job when no one else would and found someone to care for her sick mom. Yes she should have gone with Si Cheng but her heart was always with the bad boy. That damn traitorous organ! Destiny is just a pain in the a$$ and in my mind she gets pregnant and gives the hubby hell and gets her revenge that way. Luckily she didn't get pregnant from that night before the engagement. Oh the hell that would have been for her and the perils of trying not to miscarry while Prince Charming harasses and belittles her...that's another story...

I do not disagree with you that both are not blameless but since he really did not get the whole story andxwas blinded by his hate towards her aunt, he did not give her the benefit of the doubt. Their break up could have been civil but he handled it so publicly like he just knew her for a short time when in fact he knew her to be a very good woman he met abroad. He knew her character so he should have respected that at the very least.
