I used to be a bangkok lady and I've known Thai friend who came from Chaing Mai and she asked me if I want to visit her home town which is Chaing Mai. I was there for a week. At the time I don't want to go back to Bangkok. People, food, local acent language, politeness and culture is very nice over there! Totolly different environment from Bangkok's people!! I missed it!
You know how to live and eat in a proper way. Love it. Nam prik Noom is literally unripe chillies paste( hence why it's green) they grill in it to get the aroma before pounding into paste. Drooling just watching you dip in that Nam Jim Jaew

We are considering Thailand. It's beautiful and affordable. However the flights from Canada seem to be higher cost which negates the affordability. We could go to Ecuador for instance for a small fraction of that price. Do you visit home often and know of a cheaper flight plan or carrier?
I'm Thai. I have a suggestion. When you eat Thai spicy food and you want to get rid of spicy quickly You order warm soup and slurp it. Don't drink cold water. because it doesn't help the spiciness fade away

I would recommend you to eat street food at Amarin Prada Food Food Court Floor 4 at Chidlom there are so many delicious food stores and cheap too. Anyway pls avoid at lunch time bcus pack of office workers at that time .

breakfast looks nice but it also looks like big cities / tourism is pushing prices up quite a bit in places that English speakers would often eat at. That is almost $9. $9 for a Thai meal....well you already know how much great Thai food you could get for that kind of USD / Baht. Is part of that price maybe that it is considered "foreign cuisine" so richer Thai people end up spending money there? Or is it just a give foreigners from the States, Canada, UK something familiar and charge them for it. I mean it is a great idea but wow! Seems like someone could really undercut them with the same types of dishes while still being high quality.

Nam jim jaew is kind of my favorite at Isan food restaurant. Sour, salty and spicy. I usually have kao niew and fresh cabbage dip in Nam jim jaew. Local people in the past only having kao niew with nam jim jaew. That’s a meal for them. Nam Jim Jaew is everything for Isan food.

Recommend to try Chunpen Thai Cuisine Rama 3. Very unknown among tourists, but great traditional Thai food. Recipies go back to the 70s when their Grandmother opened it.

For breakfast I would prefer hmoo ping and sticky rice ข้าวเหนียวหมูปิง.It is quite expensive for breakfast 300 baht.
