What is most beautiful about this song is that a distant cousin heard this song and decided to get tested to see if he was a match for his uncle. Long tale made shorter, cousin was a match, and James's dad got his lifesaving kidney transplant!
Always drop tears with this. My father passed away in 1991. In 1982, early onset Alzheimers took the dad I grew up with. I was 19. While he was still able, he knew I was a friend - not a son, as he forgot that stuff. He smiled every time he saw me, like we were meeting for the first time. We were closer then than while I was a teen. To anyone with a living dad, tell him he is loved. Same goes for mom.
I'm so pleased Charles got his Transplant, i know all to we how hard it is on dialysis, myself and 3 siblings have all had kidney transplant, we lost our mam 45 years ago to kidney disease at 47 I was 13 at the time and my dad 29 years ago. So tissues song and it's meaning is very close to my heart. Thanks for playing Monsters, it means a lot.
I have never heard this song before, my mother passed away when she was 54, her mom passed when she was 57. Today, I am 53, this one really hit me in the “feels”. ❤😢
Wow this really breaks it down to the raw humanity of loving someone, accepting them, and losing them. I was very moved by the vulnerability of James Blunt’s delivery of this song. Wow!!
I think we as people who love to watch reactors, like to connect sometimes, & showing vulnerability with us, does that......thank you for being vulnerable & raw with us ❤
I heard that James donated all the proceeds from this amazing video to the UK charity 'Help For Hero's' who do so much wonderful work with and for ex-servicemen and service women. As he and his father were both officers in the British military, I think that was a wonderful thing to do. God bless him. 🙋♂
This is such a beautifully written song. I lost my gran 2013, grandad 2016 and sister in 2016, my mum 2017,my dad 2020 and my neice 2022 and nephew 2023 so this song really hits hard. ❤ from the uk
James always sings in such a heartfelt emotional way. Goodbye My Lover is another emotional one (especially in live performances like the one at the Oxford Union).
I felt for you buddy... its natural to shed tears, I lost my Dad too & I've had longer to grieve and it gets a bit easier to let your emotions go. Even animals cry for their mamas or their babies. We just are not comfortable with it. You're right on time. A big hug to you.
My father passed away in 1990, I was 30 & shall never ever forget his loss. James Blunt is a fantastic singer no matter what. Fortunately as you may know, his father was so saved as a cousin helped him to survive with a heart transplant I think. Whatever it was, fortunately his father is still alive. How lucky James Blunt feels like now. xxx
Beautiful, heartfelt response. Someone else will need to tell you the tale that accompanies this song. I'm still wiping my tears, typing is an issue. Thank you. 😢
@SlavoG a beautiful James Blunt song that has so much meaning to me is “Face the Sun.“ If you ever get a chance, it would be lovely to hear your review. I appreciate your heart and compassion when you speak thank you for taking us on journeys with your narratives.
Thank you for reacting to my request. I am mourning the loss of my mom back in July 2022. Cry everytime. Just mentally changing it from daddy to mommy. I miss her. Thank you, Sal.
James dad was actually dying from kidney disease & this was his tribute & farewell to his dad. Thankfully his dad received a donor kidney & is doing okay now. If this song doesn't get to you emotionally, there is something wrong with you. This song resonates with me as I was my dad's caregiver for 5 years until he passed away a few years ago.
Such a tough song for me to get through without losing it! It is so beautiful though, and to sit with your father next to you is killer on the emotions. Thanks for the reaction, much appreciated.
I enjoy your reactions, and I'm only pointing this out to help. Sometimes, your audio is at a much lower level than the music. I don't know if it's the distance you are from your mic or something else, but I have to turn the volume way up to hear you and be ready to turn it down when the music starts. Lol. It would be great if you could balance it out. Otherwise, I really do enjoy your reactions. ❤
2 weeks ago? Oh no, much too soon for this song. My dad has been gone almost 2 decades and it’s rough. So sorry for you 💕 It’s a long journey to adjust
2 weeks, so sorry for your loss, all I can say is the pain from your loss doesn't get any easier you just learn to live with it, knowing he loved you and you loved him. It's been 45 years for my mam and 29 years for my dad, I was 13 when mam passed from kidney disease and dad from old age and a broken heart, he never remarried. I really hope you find comfort in knowing you were loved by your dad, speak about him often it does help with the healing process.
I lost my father when I was 19 ( 68 now) and he died suddenly in hospital so there was no time for any of these words but it still is such an affecting song. Not sure if you know that James has a killer wit and slays objectional people on social media a lot !
This song got a second wave of recognition by Iam Tongi last year on American Idol. Iam sang a beautiful, moving rendition of this song in his audition. Iam-who is only 18-had lost his father a few months before the audition. Iam won the season and near the end of the season James and Iam sang this song together, well-Iam tried his best to get through the song. 🥲 I’d highly recommend checking it out if you’d like.
Hello SalvoG, I thought I'd suggest a new artist to give a listen, if interested. "Dr. John - Right Place, Wrong Time - Guitar Center's Battle of the Blues 2012" (by the channel: Guitar Center) --This song is from his album called "In The right Place" released in 1973. This song was his biggest hit. Although he did have other hit but they just didn't chart as high, but still bangers. So, there's more to explore from his discography in future, if interested. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~
Looking at you listening to the first bars of this song, I know you’re feeling it, and don’t want to share your feelings with anyone. That’s totally fine, you only had to stop ten recording. For your own sake, do it next time you feel this way.
Der Vater von James Blunt brauchte zu dem Zeitpunkt eine Niere weil er im Endstadium einer nierenerkrankung war. Er hat diese bekommen und es geht ihm heute wieder gut.
Not the case. Read the background story, his dad was dying when this video was made. Some people struggle with the line " I'm not your son, you're not my father, we're just 2 grown men saying goodbye". This was adapted from what his father, himself an ex army officer, said to him when he went off to war
Okay I have never ever heard this song either so I will continue this post after I hear it. Okay . . . well, I didn't really like it. I wasn't expecting to type that. I don't want to upset anyone who loves it, so I'll stop there.

All done in one take ..at the end everyone was in tears to which James dad said… why are you all crying..I’m still here !!!
I lost my dad when I was 19...and I could totally see him saying that exact same thing.
Breaks me. Every time.
Same.
I have never heard this song before, my mother passed away when she was 54, her mom passed when she was 57. Today, I am 53, this one really hit me in the “feels”. ❤😢

Hugs from Germany ❤😢

I have heard sad songs before, but this one just rips my heart out. Such a beautiful song too though.
The song kills me. Rest in peace, dad. I miss you.
Same here.
Such a touching and powerful song. This should also teach us to clear any air with our loved ones before it's time to say goodbye.
Gets me every time

Beautiful words for a father from his son. You should listen James sing, The Girl Who Never Was, another hauntingly beautiful song.
How are you not bawling your eyes out?

It was a lifesaving kidney transplant, as James Dad had already donated a kidney himself.
When they finished filming this song, his dad looked up and said "why is everyone crying?!!" Thank you for your great reaction!!💜💜🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🎙🎹🎤🥁🔥🔥🔥
Well...that touches the heart! Never heard this before. Hauntingly beautiful. 😢
Beautiful, touching and so moving. Thank you James Blunt and Sal.
Goosebumps every time I hear this song. The gentleman in the video is James Blunt's father.
Love your reaction. A wonderful historical story song is Al Stewart’s Roads to Moscow, fantastic. , but heartbreaking….
Beautiful, heartfelt response. Someone else will need to tell you the tale that accompanies this song. I'm still wiping my tears, typing is an issue. Thank you. 😢
"High" and "1973" are brilliant too❤
I’ve never heard of this song, I’m in tears here 😢

His face...and then the song...😢😢😢

You should listen to the cover done by American Idol Winner Ima ????? Hawaiian kid who won in '23. Heart breaker.
There's qn american idol clip with ion tongi and Jane's singing this together and he won american idol

Please listen to another great song By James (I like even Better) "The Girl that never was"
that onw was a tear jerker times two...
The wrongs or/and rights are probably also a nod to that they where also both from militrary background.
Oh no, we're loading you up with sad songs and movies lately! 😭
Boa tarde
Great song. Your audio is a little low though.

Faz um react do Billy joel " Just the way you are 1978 Old Grey Whistley test por favor

This song destroys me but its just a Tuesday for his dad.

Taylor Swifts song …Ronan… is a similar storyline… beautiful..
Ob Mann oder Frau 😪 Wer bei diesem Song nicht weint, mit dem stimmt etwas nicht😂 ❤❤
