  • Is this the real life Cozy Cone!? Route 66! I can't get enough, and my whole life I've known that Route 66 travels down out of the desert and across Southern California to the ocean, ending its 2000+ mile journey all the way from Chicago basically in my own backyard
Sorry to say though that I've actually spent very little time exploring the closer parts of Route 66. Most of it winds through rough suburban blight, industrial areas, and more modern neighborhoods and strip malls, but among the more famous landmarks on California's stretch of the mother road are the location of the very FIRST McDonald's and of course the Wigwam Motel!
Famously, there were seven we wigwam motels invented and to some extent or another owned or licensed through Frank Redford from the 1930s to the 1950s, and his seventh and final wigwam village was located right here in Southern California on the border of Rialto and San Bernardino!
Arguably the more famous route 66 wigwam motel is located in Holbrook Arizona, and since I've never had the pleasure of staying there I thought, "wouldn't it be an adventure to sleep in the one here?" So come along with us in part 1 of staying in a teepee
