  • Melisandre Is a Targaryen! Secret Revealed! Game of Thrones
    One of the most interesting characters in the Game of Thrones universe is Melisandre, the red priestess who fought alongside the men to defeat the white walkers. But what would you think if I told you that this mysterious woman is not a simple slave who grew up on the other side of the world, rather that the dragon's blood runs in her veins, and she could be a lost daughter of the 3 eyed raven? Do you want to know who Melisandre really was? In this video, we will be delving into one of the strangest but interesting theories of this universe. Melisandre Targaryen, the daughter of the 3 eyed raven.

    A Targaryen??? You can't be serious! If this so and if she was Three-Eyed Raven's own daughter and believed she was serving the lord of light. Three-Eyed Raven may have been manipulating her all her life and appeared to her in visions masquerading as the Lord of Light and Melisandre and Bran Stark were his pawns in his game for the Seven Kingdoms.

    A note that a few times during the show (If I remember correctly) we are shown what she looks like when she's not wearing the glamour creating the image most know her by. In her ending; as her powers faded; that glamour also faded showing the world her true self before she died. To all appearances when she wasn't wearing her glamour she was FAR older than 3ER.

    No, not likely. Melisandre was said to be anywhere from 100 to 400 years old. Not everyone is a Targaryen. She very likely predates Aegon IV's bastards by a good chunk. I think she's a bigger overarching thread we've yet to see that has had great effect on house Targaryen without being of them. There really is no point of her being Targaryen.

    • @jmeds94
      @jmeds94 6 месяцев назад +4

      The connection between her and Shiera Seastar is undeniable. There are so many literary clues suggesting it (if she’s her mom that makes her the “red star” just keep that in mind).
      She has a vision of Bloodraven and Bran and is convinced that he is the Great Other, then she starts her period. Then Jon dies.
      She IS the “Bleeding Red Star” that Jon will be reborn under.
      Her being from halfway around the world, practicing a fire religion, then coming face to face with her even older father who practices the ice religion at the same time as the second coming of Azor Ahai might be the WILDEST thing happening in this entire story and you’re downplaying it. And the evidence is all there, it holds up as one of the most likely theories in a sea of BS tinfoil.
      We do not have evidence of her having to be over 100 years old, that is pure conjecture. We just know she is very old.

    I believe Melisandre isn’t a Targaryen but I also don’t believe she is possibly older than Argon the conqueror. I believe she is somewhere between 100-300 years old. The other priestess Kinvara I believe would be 400+ years old. Melissadre does things that sometimes show a lack of wisdom and understanding. Thinking back on the warning Kinvara gave Dany, she didn’t encourage Dany to pursue the fight against the long night but the opposite as there was only ruin waiting for her. I hope there is a GoT sequel that wraps up all the loose ends and redeems this series in the eyes of fans.

      Honestly the last couple of seasons D&D definitely made it nigh impossible for them to redeem themselves they didn't flesh things out like I can say that Jon Snow's Direwolf Ghost is an albino like drumroll please Blood Raven aka the 3 eyed Raven. I doubt they would sell their daughter ever they didn't want for wealth and they could teach their daughter way more than selling her to a God that is in direct competition to their own God's they worship the Old God's Which I believe are all Lovecraftian there's so many hints you'd have to be blind to miss them. It also has ties to Sesame st Grover Tully, and a few more the Kraken from the Iron Island's and the things that use the slimy oily black stone there's proof of these stones all over the world where westoros resides. I think maybe GRRM put mysteries in his world that mirrors things of fiction in our world like sesame st it's a very Dark Tower connection by Stephen King how all his novels tie together he's had the multiverse before anyone I guess wow mind blown.

    According to World the blackfyre rebellions and Bloodravens time as hand was in the 210s and 220s...Melony would've been born by then or during that time. Our start of GOT...Robert's rebellion was in 281. So, Mel could've been in her late 60s or 70s. Older than she appeared, although not as extremely as the show stated.

    Shiera Seastar- the daughter of Serenei of Lys and Aegon the Unworthy. A Targaryen bastard and the half sister of Bloodraven who came to be her greatest admirer. Her mother died in childbirth. This is how she is described: beautiful, slender, slim of waist, full of breast, with a heart-shaped face. She believed in prophesies. She was obsessed with silver and would never wear gold. She had different colored eyes, one green and one blue. Like her mother Serenei, she practiced the dark arts to preserve her appearance. Shiera’s death is absent from the histories, blatantly hinting at her ultimate fate having some measure of importance and will be revealed eventually.
    Since it may be likely that a maester never recorded her death, it isn’t far-fetched to presume she left Westeros at some point and was never heard from again.
    This is how Melisandre is described in A Clash of Kings:
    "Slender she was, graceful, as tall as most knights, with full breasts, and a narrow waist, and a heart shaped face. Men's eyes that once found her did not quickly look away, not even a Maester's eyes. Many called her beautiful."
    Compelling evidence. But what do we know about her that disputes this idea? She's tall, she has red hair, she’s more into gold than silver (she has a gold choker necklace), she has the same colored eyes (red), and finally we know she has memories of being a slave with some connection to the name "Melony."
    The theory suggests…
    After becoming pregnant with Bloodraven's child, Shiera left Westeros to go to Lys (where Serenei was from) and was captured by slavers. Melony was born into slavery and her journey led her to eventually became a Red Priestess of Asshai. We know very little about Asshai, but one important detail we are given is that they are very advanced in the use of red dye. Red dye that could be used to change the color of Melony’s Valyrian hair.
    I see no reason why the show would make up their own twist about Mel being old instead of young. I seriously doubt the books will change that about her character, so it’s safe to say she’s an old woman hiding her appearance. Since she’s used a glamour on Mance it was already speculated that her glowing ruby necklace was a type of magic she has been using on herself. And if the magic is only glamour, then it wouldn’t extend her lifespan. Meaning she can’t be hundreds of years old. During the Sworn Sword in year 211 we know Shiera is in King’s Landing and hasn’t left Westeros yet. In 233 Bloodraven is sent to the wall, likely putting Shiera’s exodus and Mel’s birth somewhere between those years. This makes her anywhere between 67 and 89 in the current year. I believe we’ll find out in another D&E when exactly Shiera left and why.
    My conjecture is that the dark arts practices are something Mel inherited from both her mother and her grandmother Serenei. Of course it could be that Shiera died in childbirth and Mel learned everything when she was becoming a priestess in Asshai. This would suggest that she doesn’t know who she is and her being drawn to the use of magic is just an inherited trait. Let’s put a pin in that.
    She inherited her father's height (he was quite tall), cryptic nature, Blackwood heritage (affinity for magic), and even King's blood (ironic right?). This also gives much more meaning to the vision she has of Bran and Bloodraven. She falsely thinks she is seeing the enemy because she is so shaken by the importance of this man. She and her father seem to parallel each other religiously which is also fantastically fitting.
    Also, during the vision blood trickles down her thigh... Consider this, Mel is the embodiment of red. Red dress, red ruby necklace, red god, she is the “red woman.” If Shiera is the star of the sea, it’s not exactly a stretch to say that Mel is the “Red Star” and if she is in the right place at the right time to resurrect Jon Snow... she could be the Red Star Bleeding to fulfill the prophecy of the rebirth of Azor Ahai.
    I think this reveal that Martin has been building up to is designed to make Mel a more likeable character. Of course, we’ll hate her more with the burning of Shireen (assuming that happens), but since she now has her own POV chapters we’ll get to see into her motivations and mental state. It’s very possible that she doesn’t know her father is Bloodraven or anything about her true identity. And although they’ve never met and are both incredibly old and knowledgeable by now, it’s very likely Mel and Brynden will die never knowing about each other’s existence.
    So if this was where the theory stopped I’d say it was a damn good, highly possible theory, but could still be off... But there’s one more description of her to put the nail in the coffin.
    “Her sleeves were full of hidden pockets, and she checked them carefully as she did every morning to make certain all her powders were in place. Powders to turn fire GREEN or BLUE or SILVER...”

    Okay, this is interesting and warrants further analysis. You say she has an inherent magic ability that becomes stronger the nearer she is to the weirwoods/3-ER. Yet she learned magic at Asshai which is as far from that region as it is possible to get. How do you square that geographical anomaly?

    • @jmeds94
      @jmeds94 6 месяцев назад

      What do you mean? Like how did she get over there? She was born into slavery as Melony. Her journey took her further east. Her affinity for magic made her a good candidate for red priestess. Asshai is popular for its red dye which could be used for dying her hair.
      She has king’s blood and doesn’t even know it.

      She wouldn't be a Blackfyre. Bloodraven was very much not a Blackfyre (sent to the Wall for killing one in King's Landing) and neither was Shiera. She'd either be Melony Seastar or Melony Rivers.

    • @ohheyemmi
      @ohheyemmi 4 месяца назад

      @@walkinglost Either way, the Blackfyres and the Targaryens are 2 sides of the same coin. Aegon IV, or "Aegon the Unworthy" had a bastard child with his cousin, Daena, called Daemon Waters. "Waters" is given to all bastards in the Crownlands, like Rivers or Sand or Snow. Aegon IV knighted him when he was legitimized and gave him a Valyrian steel sword called Blackfyre, the namesake for House Blackfyre. He created his own house when he rebelled against king Daeron II.
      Daemon Blackfyre and his 2 sons were killed in battle by Brynden Rivers, a man we all know as the Three Eyed Raven.
      Its very much a pedantic nitpicky thing, but she'd still have Targaryen blood/ancestry. Asshai is a place not many know about and is said to be where Dragons came from. Brynden Rivers, or Lord Bloodraven or the Three Eyed Raven, is another bastard child of Aegon the Unworthy. On his deathbed, Aegon legitimized ALL of his bastard children, including Bloodraven, which would make Bloodraven a Targaryen. Aegon's decision to legitimized all of his bastards is what led to the Blackfyre rebellion, during which Bloodraven chose to align with the Targaryens, not the Blackfyres. He served as Hand of the King under Aerys I (I think? Double check that part) when he learned that Daemon II Blackfyre was planning a second Blackfyre rebellion, a rebellion that was squashed before it even started when Bloodraven marched on his keep in force.
      Now 25 or so years after he was legitimized, his half brother, Bittersteel, tried to do a 3rd Blackfyre rebellion, and agin the Blackfyres were defeated. Aerys ordered Bittersteel sent to the wall, but he escaped somewhere en route to the wall. 15 years later, Maekar I died and his successor is highly disputed. Aenys Blackfyre, 5th son of Daemon Blackfyre, put his claim forward and was invited to Kings Landing to discuss his claim before the council. Brynden Rivers/Bloodraven had him arrested/executed in an attempt to finally end half a century of attempted Blackfyre rebllions.
      Aegon V Targaryen was chosen to succeed Maekar and, upon his ascension to the throne, had Bloodraven arrested and sent to the Wall for the murder of Aenys Blackfyre. Bloodraven's brother, Aemon Targaryen, takes the black to avoid having to be witness against his brother in a trial. Bloodraven is allowed to join him in the Nights Watch, escorted by an honor guard including Duncan the Tall. Aemon became the Maester Aemon we know. Bloodraven quickly rose to Lord Commander of the Nights Watch. He led an expedition north of the wall and never returned.
      In case anyone was curious.
