Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland How lovely to be back on the Macclesfield Canal and going up the 12 Bosley Flight of locks. So sorry to hear that Jax is off working for a while. I wish her well. Hope you and Pudding are not too lonely without her. The CRT really need to repair the lock landings on this flight. Travelling lock to lock is probably OK, but being single handed must be a right bugger at times. A wonderful video, great humour, loads of laughs and nice to see your Mum & Dad again. When e We lived in macc we used to go to bosley locks tohe top one where services are we helped some boater through the locks brought back memories when we hired a boat many years ago. Will watch you along the macc canal it will bring back many childhood memories when used to canoe the whole length as schhl kid god luck watch them there locks

So Bosley locks is another fine mess, CRT wake up! Will is one of my favourite narrowboaters, did you get along fine? He also is a skilled engine mechanic and welder, so he is about everywhere. He saved the Taylors' engine and fixed it well. I love his storytelling and singing at certain bridge numbers. Though Bosleys state is a pain in the behind, you managed swiftly single handed. Don't forget to hydrate at passing boats, it's a polite way to celebrate traffic on the canal. Cheers!
I just consider when people are involved in a pursuit that they love it brings out the best attributes of human nature their willingness to help and the mutual respect is due to their personal experiences both positive and negative of boat life. My mother once explained the lifestyle of the boaties as they were called the horse drawn boats and the legging tunnels whole families living like water gypsies and they were considered with disdain by the majority of Victorian society due to their living standards. Had it not been for their hard work in moving coal iron ore and other essentials the industrial revolution could not have taken place its important we remember their legacy
Yes, always remember our history .. but I do love my hot showers and mod cons on my boat 😂 my boat is a mix with the vintage engine, traditional back cabin then modern for the rest of it 😃🏴☠️

How novel, a canal side bidet. Although it may come as a shock if you weren't expecting it. A bit of a noo noo if you ask me. That 'step' on the side of your boat is called a stirrup. As on a horses saddle it helps you get your leg over when mounting or dismounting. I was amazed how quickly you got yourself off after bottoming out. Single handed too. Going to miss your first mate. Enjoy this canal. xx

In other words being a solo narrowboater you have to have eyes not just in the back of your head in a lock but down and around as well. Experience would help but it's not everything. Maintenance is a big issue Heidi. The tugboat Hector I rented 2 weeks ago was deep drafted and the plank had to come out at most moorings for me. I emailed the CRT and never even had a reply.

I had a big gusha in grand Union, felt the bow go down, CRT kept looking down and gasping making me feel nervous, when I asked they said water was poring in well deck from leaking gate, but fortunately i have two big drains that kept up with it. My boat is 70 ft so could not move back either, fortunately the CRT have now replaced the gate last year

Oh Judi … it’s ridiculous, it’s almost doubled in price so it’s really going to affect my adventures this year to be honest … no unnecessary journeys 😩 every cruise has got to count 😂🏴☠️
Some places have only had half deliveries so I really don’t know how it will play out to be honest … luckily I have solar panels so can generate all my power without running the engine this time of year if it’s sunny …. it’s just dull days and movement that will be problematic 😮🏴☠️

I had a big gusha in grand Union, felt the bow go down, CRT kept looking down and gasping making me feel nervous, when I asked they said water was poring in well deck from leaking gate, but fortunately i have two big drains that kept up with it. My boat is 70 ft so could not move back either, fortunately the CRT have now replaced the gate last year

Hi Heidi. Just watched yourt latest vlog and very entertaining as usual. The Staffs and Worcs runs near where I live and I often walk my naughty little Lakey Quorra along the towpath and see lots of boats, and have always wondered what those foldy-out things were for-and now I know.
One other thing I need to know though, is a noo-noo the same as a mermaids fooff? Love Mike, and Quorra

Some places have only had half deliveries so I really don’t know how it will play out to be honest … luckily I have solar panels so can generate all my power without running the engine this time of year if it’s sunny …. it’s just dull days and movement that will be problematic 😮🏴☠️
