The feral ghouls used to scare the everything shit outta me. Hearing the run towards you in the darkness of the metro stations was something else.
I think the metro tunnels were very scary in fallout 3. Especially since the combat was so awful that it made it very difficult to survive the quick ghouls charging at you.

"No Place is Safe" is fucking awesome. The NPC's will track you through building and everything. I was on my way out of a building once and 3 bandits were coming through the door just as I entered the room and they blew me away. It's totally worth trying.

Been learning programming and modding to try to make a depression feature for survival mode. Have certain events like Nora/Nate dying, learning Shaun is alive, things like that. You can get happy from being with companions, or depressed from important NPCs dying. Stat reductions or improvements, chance of dialogue success increase or decrease. If anyone knows a good way to implement this, please let me know. Think it works for the story of the game.
Lone Wolf1773 you'd have to give the player the ability to decide more of the characters past. If it's a righteous play through then you'll feel like shit after killing any actual human, but if you were a mudering physcopath you'd get sad by not killing people. Some kinda option like that that decides what actions cause repercussions

^Lone Wolf^ i think u should focus more on trying to make mods to make fallout4 a "horror game" or "apoc cyberpunk" ...depression meters will make it more of a "psychological thriller" ...(remember : give the people what they want) we have enough depression issues in real life.....not to be a douche...but i wouldn't download a mod like that...for what?...now a mod that adds ghost ,demons ,prostitutes ,strippers and bounty hunters...well hell yhea!! lol

This is helpful to make fallout 4 feel like a fallout game, I think fallout 4 lacks being scary I remember in fallout 3 getting kinda scared to do anything outside of the vault, until I grew a pair and completed it (only after beating fallout 4 lol) it just seems to colorful and happy for a fallout game and lacks atmosphere I remember hearing the wind in the capital wasteland and getting a creepy vibe from it I went back to fallout 4 and seeing (more like hearing) the lack of wind, in the city there is wind and you can hear the building sound like there gonna topple at any moment but those are just the same sounds from fallout 3 you can also hear in the city, I just feel like fallout 4 should feel like a true fallout game.
Wolfgang umm I guess I'm making an assumption the you like new vegas here but new vegas was even brighter than fo4 and the reason that they have different levels of brightness are because they are different locations, it was definitely more colorful than fo3 and I get why some people like it dark and all ..but fo4 is what it would really look like if it were real.
TheGamingBosser True, also I've never really played New Vegas I got fallout 3 and Vegas in some combo pack at target both game of the year but the only time I touched New Vegas was when I did the tutorial and got attacked by praymantis things in the one school in the first town and attempted to travel to New Vegas but for ambushed by ten radscorpians.

i think fallout 4s map should of been bigger, more wilderness, more villages or cities. a crime system and the removal of the character voice. the settlement system should of been anywhere in the wilderness as well as specific places. i would of liked to make an old truck a base the live in and bandits and ghouls could over run you and shit, that would of made fallout 4 amazing i think. (its also straight forwards to do if you have knoweldge in the creation kit and papyrus) thats why i like the creation club idea as we could just get this

Frost also adds a really good horror element. Since it removes basically every friendly NPC, nowhere is safe except some settlements(not even Diamond City, which is now a military remnant camp). And since it removes every mission from the game, there are some hidden missions that can be found through notes. No one like note quests, but in Frost's case it kinda adds to the immersion and horror of not being certain of where you need to go. The only problem is its still a very early build, and you'll also have to be careful of what mods are compatible. Obviously new quests wont work to well, but the Gas Masks Mod in this video is mostly compatible which is nice

I had the no place is safe mod installed as i was playing through the Story, i made it to the Part where Valentine told me to sit down and talk about how painful it was losing Nate, just as he said "no matter how painful" some NPCs ran in the Office one with a Fatman.It turned out to be quite Painful

It really gives an idea of a "mission range" that increases as you progress. You can only travel so far with the filters you have, and you also need to get back.

The creation club is just a legalized scam that's only halfway worth it if you have the ps4 version. In which in that case, the only real good mod i would say on there is the backpack mod, but if you're on pc or xbox you could get a much better and more customization backpack mod for free.
Only way I see why you'd be praising the creation club is that you're a fanboy, you are playing on ps4, or you ARE Todd Howard and we should start a flash mob! >:D

The gas mask mod doesnt work completely with me. (im on xbox) Like cracked glass and water on screen features dont work. I have a mod to enable them it just doesnt work. Anyone else having this issue?
Dank Memes Use the settings holotape, go to the settings for the overlay, and one of them will activate the screen effects. The cracked glass isn’t implemented yet fully but I get water on my visor.

For ps4 users like myself:
The mod where u have to wear a gas mask can be found if u search Rad Weather on the mod page( it basically makes you wear a gas mask because u get rads on any weather cycle if u don’t.) ( this can also replace the nuclear weather mod because Rad Weather features terrifying weather)
Darker Nights can also be found on ps4 (also the Brighter Pip Boy Flashlight mod can give you really bright light when in the dark)
For the rest of the featured mods in this video you can download Immersive Fallout mod which gives you faster and stronger enemy’s depending on what they are (deathclaws are faster and have more endurance. And super mutants are stronger and more resilient but have slower movements) along with much more

Darker nights is always a must-have. When stacked with a good dynamic lighting mod and volumetric fog/particles mods, a bandit camp in a patch of trees looms in the darkness, casting long shadows that swallow a player in living night. Gunfire, particularly laser and plasma weapons make it something else entirely... each beam and bolt, throw a world of swiftly shifting shadow and psychedelic colors, contrasting against the ones all around in experiences which feel like they are scripted set pieces, yet are the "normal" emergent moment to moment game play that you get from just popping on a couple mods...
It is truly an amazing time to be a gamer. Much thanks to all the modders who take an already great experience and give us anything, everything and a whole bunch of shit we didn't even know we wanted.

I tried the Survival Options mod and it was a nightmare. The hunger/thirst options were glitchy, sleeping actually made me MORE tired many times, and the game thought every bed was a freaking sleeping bag. And yes, my load order and mod settings were all correct.

Rebalancer Mod combined with war of the Commonwealth makes Fallout 4 truly a glee to play. Enemies are more aggressive, more numerous, and changes in damage and health bars mean that every fight is moderately challenging. An added bleeding mechanic and slowed healing on top and you've got a real survival shooter.

No Ms Abominations?! The uniqueness of the enemies that mod adds is amazing. Some are just disturbing.
After 200 years most of the worst fallout would be long gone, same for most structures. You'd hardly know humans even lived in some areas, only the biggest most durable structures would remain as ruins covered in plant regrowth. That's what's always sort of made me eye roll for fallout. I dunno why they didn't just set it ~50 yeas since the apocalypse. It certainly feels more like 50 years overall.
Conversely, metro 2033 set only 20 years post apocalypse event has decay that's far, far more in line with 200 years. save the levels of surface fallout. Realistically, most bombs would only leave deadly fallout that lasts 35 years. Past that as long as you don't go rolling around in the dirt and soot and eat it you'd be relatively fine.

you could also add in a mod that removes the red dots on the compas so you'll never really know where an enemy is unless you listen for them.

Be careful with live dismemberment. There is a rare game breaking bug where you can get dismembered permanently. I got my head blown off and when reloading a save I spawned with the head giblets floating where my head should be.

In Skyrim I got bored with the vanilla game, and decided to vamp things up with mods. Ultimately, I loaded various survival mods that made cold weather kill you if you don't chop wood and build a fire at night. Also, I included a cooking system and hunting bow system that let me become a hermit hobo hunter who traveled across Skyrim setting up tents and not at all doing the main story line.
It didn't get as boring as it sounds. I wanted to see how long I could survive.

I wish there was a mod that made the Super Mutants have darker green skin and deeper voices. There just need to be very difficult horror mods more often. Like lvl. 500 slashers that come after you at night with machetes, or anything reallly. Playing 27 legendary bosses can be scary in conjunction with darker nights, though once you get to endgame they aren't a threat anymore. It would be cool if lvl. 500-600 creatures tracked you down and surprised you between 6am-6pm.

Nurgle Pembrush hey guys Tom Howard the duck here. So, yes, you can actually play the final quest. For 10 dollars. Oh, and you have to pay to expand level cap beyond 10. 5 dollars per extra level.
They should add sanity and depression to the game. Whenever your character sees something tragic or if someone they're fond of dies, they're sanity level will decrease. This decrease in sanity will effect the world around you and make you sad. One effect it will have is on your senses (hearing, sight, etc), the more your sanity decreases the darker the world will become. Enemies will become more scary and new options will be present bus others will close as well. For example during dialogue, a family may need your help but if your sanity has lowered enough you may be forced to decline their offer or only accept it for a price. If your sanity lowers enough the chance your character enters depression will increases. While in depression option changes will be significant and the world around you will become very dark and scary. You'll fear death less and may hurt the ones around you both physically and emotionally. Your characters will to do anything will drop drastically, and may even try to hurt themselves. If any of your companions see you intentionally hurt yourself, depending on the companion and your relationship with you, they may try to either leave, help, or lose trust in you. But they're are ways to increase your sanity. Performing or witnessing good deeds can increase your sanity (will have a larger effect if done by the character). Being with companions that you trust (sanity increase depends on realationship). Some companions will raise you sanity better then others which can also add to their pros and cons. Danse may be very strong but he won't be able to increase your sanity by much if your not in a relationship with him. "But then I can be in a relationship with him and things will be fine", easier said then done. Characters like danse won't exactly like someone with a lower sanity and may even pity you too much. Characters like cait may even lower your sanity. There's a lot that can be done with this idea lol, if you have any thoughts please add on.

Add a mod that makes enemies not show on your radar will be even more intense. Don't know where they are coming from. I like it.
Play without your HUD, constant rad storm, barely any loot, give you 5x damage and enimies 5x damage. Make it so loot is rarer and enemies use ammo, so if you are going into a bandit camp for loot stealth is key. Make the entire game darker and play of survival but turn saving on because your game could crash at anytime, also get armor & weapon deterioration if there a mod for it. Lastly use a longer time scale.
Max settings + realistic mods + terrifying mods = perfect game ever
I highly recommend Endless Warfare. You can customize enemy spawns to your likin'.
war of the commonwealth is named endless warfare on xb1. you can control which and how many npcs there will be. you can get it as an all out war. and, believe me....you'll definitely want invincibility for that.
Whispering hills mod with contrast set to bleak (almost black and white) and darker nights lvl - 0. Cant see more than 10-15 yards on front of you at night and you'll never want to leave a lit area.
Add in zombie walkers and/or skk combat stalkers with notifications when they start stalking you turned off. Give yourself paranoia also.
Little tip if you want a red like sky or make the sky look all red like when the bombs dropped in the prologue use a enb or a sky retexture mod and a mod that lets you skip the beginning, after the sky will be glitched to looking all red don't ask me how this happened to my game I just downloaded a new enb and the start me up mod skipped pre war section and spawned in concord, the sky was still sunny but with it looking all red, I would recommend some mod to darken the sky for a better experience
Look at the conversation wheel and the bugs. Fallout 4 is already terrifying.

I think a lot of these mods and additions to the game should definitely be in the next Fallout game without being a mod. The reason i say this is because Fallout 4 by itself doesn’t run very well, but if you add mods it runs even worse, especially on consoles. I think with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X Bethesda can really go all-out on a new Fallout game, which i’m really excited about.
The scary part is something I really missed in Fallout 4. While I was afraid to enter new buildings in Fallout NV, because those ghouls and super mutants were kind of frightening, I didn't have the same feeling in Fallout 4. I felt more vulnerable in NV and I liked it.

Somone could make a drinking game with how many videos you include "Start Me Up" and "Survival Options" in.
Honestly I think the No Place Is Safe mod is a lot better than the running dead mod. Because in that mod actions have consequences EX: if you shoot up a raider base a couple of bandits will try to hunt you down. This could take anywhere to 3 minutes to a hour to find you. It just makes your game a little more "intense". In addition to this it's also a good idea to download the Deadly Expansion Pack and NPCs Travel mods. So that way every 5 feet a ghoul or raider is on your tail
Personally, in my opinion one of the best horror landscape mods would be scorched earth overhaul, which basically burns the entire earth.
Want to make it super terrifying? Make a mod that replace every poster and billboard with creation club ads. Or maybe with Todd's "It just works!".
just want a mod where most of the quests are taken out from the game. so it really feels like the world is in despair

Frost Survival Simulator will do that, but it's still new and not fully fleshed out sadly.
Shawn H the quests are what makes me feel dispair... Thier absolute garbage... Don't get me wrong.... I like fo4 and most Bethesda games... But they really lowered Thier standards with this one....

I usually avoid overhaul mods but this looks like a blast gonna give it shot
at 30 seconds, I'm pretty sure that was a metro series inspired mod.... I like it
I like true storms because you can have mobs of feral ghouls chasing after you in rad storms. Also Plague Doctors of the Commonwealth might be good for your loadout if you want a unique and powerful faction of enemies chasing you. I may have to try Nuclear Weather
I am not a fan of survival because you have to basically live in your power armor. A lot of the enemies use hitscan weapons and there isn't a whole lot of counter play to that. The hit is instantaneous and you can't dodge it. The only actual option you have is really to just tank the shot. I play survival because I like the challenge of trying to survive and the random encounters with high level enemies but I lower the damage ratios because I hate having to live in my power armor.
