They also only work for 179 days a year, having 186 days off. So they make about $446/day. In doing the math quickly, after a quick google search I can see that teachers in San Francisco work 178 days a year. Even if they only made $26,193, that’s still $147.15/ day. Mind you, public schools are public record and it’s easy enough to see that teacher’s salary in SF start at around $42,161.04 ($236.85/day) and top out at around $124,167 ($697.56/day)
For the part time careers, it would be cool to have you build up an apartment shell, then each of the part time careers can be in a different unit. For an extra challenge, after finding out the yearly salary you could then cut it in half since it’s supposed to be part time!
Unrealistic! You need minimum two different sims with part time jobs to rent an apartment, give them each a bedroom or designated space and then they share the main areas
I work in education and I'd say 40K is a pretty average salary for teachers. You did good there. And I feel like a 2 bed/2 bath home with a small office is pretty reasonable in a rural area but the average teacher isn't likely to be able to afford a house like that. But it's a cute home!
Oh yeah, the Sims games are great to learn budgeting tricks (stick to cheap and learn to upgrade/customize stuff yourself and cook and clean yourself), but the economy is very unrealistic. Especially now

Teaching depends on a lot of factors. Where you work, what degree level, and as you teach longer you make more. In my county, teachers start off at 53,000.
I have a fun idea for a series You could ask your subscribers to make old-looking houses with annoying layouts and the sims that live there, then you can renovate their houses with the sims' needs and interests in mind. To make it more challenging, you could have your subscribers also choose which walls are load bearing.
So my grandma worked at a pre school and earned about $25k a year. Worked her way into teaching early childhood education at a community college and was making about 55-60k a year doing that. My mom was a professor at a university and she made $80k a year doing that and by the time she retired she was making $150k a year. So it truly depends on what your doing, where you live, where you work, etc. It seems kind of random honestly. All teachers should be making at least 70k a year or more. They do so much and it's mostly a thankless job. Besides your students at least.
I’m in university studying to be a teacher. This is a great video concept! I would love to see a salary building video for a freelance career or for one of the part-time careers. I think that would be interesting. :)
Budgeting in the sims is extremely difficult, I've never built a house that was below 60,000 simoleons (I like the finer things in life lol). I'd love to see a build for one of the part time careers next, like the fast food worker. That would be interesting.

I think the whole idea is to make it a challenge, making something liveable but still cute within the budget with no cheats. but if you're building just for fun this is definitely a great tip!
What a cute house! I think you should include at the start picking up things/essentials you think that career would need so that it is already removed from the budget and you won't worry about not gettting them later :)
I was making $31,000 my first year teaching-roughly $26,000 take home pay-and that was the highest paying district in the state. I think a way to make this challenge more realistic would be to take out other expenses like insurance, groceries, etc. But as it stands, I do think this is an easier way to do this challenge.
I’m not a Teacher but I am Married to one. It typically ranges based on state and district you are teaching in. also, it typically scales based on years of service and you can also be bumped up on the scale if they attain any additional education (such as finishing a Master Degree in there content area). In my state 50,000 is the starting pay for teachers. Private and Public schools will also affect the pay range.

Teacher here and this a cute fairly accurate representation of what we can afford. However, probably needs a spouse because a single parent on a teacher’s salary is not going to afford a house. Next could you do someone with a part time job? They probably need an apartment in a run down section. Love this challenge of this!
hi, i’m a future teacher and tbh i’d live in this house in a heart beat but i’d add a couple pet things, and if possible an extra office/desk for the husband. i love this series! you should do a lawyer, a custodial worker, or a garbage service worker next!
Oh man there are so many factors that influence teacher salary. First thing is obviously where you're teaching. I'm in Ontario, and the pay scale can vary depending on what post secondary education you have. If you have your masters, you're automatically placed in the top A4 factor pay scale. I started around 70k. It also depends on how long you've been teaching. For up to ten years, your salary increases by 1 to 2 percent each school year. ALSO. The grade you teach does matter, but only to a certain extent. Elementary (k-8) are all on the same pay scale, but secondary is on another as far as I'm aware. So it honestly really depends!
Google was correct. Teachers really don’t make a lot of money in most places. Where I live an assistant manager at a fast food restaurant makes more than a teacher who’s been teaching for 5+ years.
Love the exterior of this house (and the interior too!) If only i could actually afford something like this with a teachers salary. Even when you get paid over 50,000k a year, your first couple of years are spent paying off loans and living with roommates.
I'm not even a subscriber but I ended up recommended this and it's actually really interesting challenge. You did well despite having to keep to a budget.
impressed as always with your work!! just blown away by your eye for color & ability to make homes look realistic and luxe at the same time :') tysm for acknowledging the ridiculous tv pricing omg, they really should update those to match what's current!! idk why they're stubbornly sticking with like 2004 prices lol
It is astonishing to me how little some teachers make! I am a teacher from Kuwait and teachers have one of the best salaries in the country along side doctors and engineers due to their high education and hard work.. I make over 55,500 US dollars per year and every couple of years the salary increases by 25,000 dollars a year, it’s only fair since we work hard 😅
The funniest part was imagining the teacher was helping her kid with homework, expecting the best grades, & teaching them chess early. I don’t have time after all my work for my students to help my kids 😭 I also have way more empathy for any learning struggles or differences.
I really enjoyed this video! I enjoyed the “theme” of the challenge with choosing a career as budget and inspirations for the build! I also really like your style. This is my first time watching one of your videos and I’m an instant subscribe! I think you are the creator who styles the closest to how I like to. It’s nice to see for inspiration and tips! I love seeing what items others frequent!
As a teacher it’s a combination of a certain percentage above the standard cost of living in your area plus the tax funding for the district/state you’re in. It also increases a percentage for each year of service as an incentive. It’s pretty inconsistent honestly 😅😂
Am I the only one who was watching her use the 200 simoleon kitchen counters and then say where'd the budget go? Choose cheaper counters, Doctor Ashley! That will work better in the long run. That or maybe include an additional 10k just for the exterior and landscaping so that you have a fair amount to use for your interior. I love this series so far but it truly shows just how little we make in the real world. Next career suggestion is a Doctor.
Public school teachers can improve their salaries by getting a masters degree in Canada, they may make more if they are the head/director of their faculty too. I believe you are paid more as a highschool teacher as opposed to elementary, and maybe more for special ed/gifted classes. Principles or admin usually also have higher salaries, and private schools also pay more.
My boyfriend said you should do one for mechanical engineering (his current major 😂). But I just graduated last week with my teaching degree so I loved this build! 40k-50k is about accurate, it all depends on the living costs of the place you live so while you may make more in a different state/city/country… it will all even out based on the cost of living.
Ahhhhhh never been this early before! My grandpa was a teacher and he passed away a year ago. He was the kindest person in the whole world and I love him so much ❤
Loving this series. Personally I think that you should be able to use debug trees because trees (especially if they are older ones) are already there on the land. Just a thought. ❤
I taught in Germany and made 24k a year. I moved to AZ and made 21k a year and then TX for 24k a year. Yes, teachers aren't paid anything. Most of what I made went back into supplying my classroom because there was no money for teachers for supplies. It was all out of pocket.
Salaries are gonna vary widely from state to state and then even more for primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Confusion is natural 😆 It would've been so perfect in the kid's room to have a little basketball hoop on the back of the door to go with the carpet! Totally could see a kid doing that. This is a really cute design!
The salary really depends on your state & district (not really your grade level), but many teachers have to get second weekend jobs/summer jobs to help pay for bills - especially in big cities
I'd love to see an artist/painter's house or a bookworm's house :D I think it's gonna look good with a touch of personalities as artist/bookworm usually are creatives
US teacher here! Most districts have set pay scales based on what type of degree you have and how long you've been teaching. Your salary won't depend on your subject or grade levels, with a few exceptions. For example, special ed teachers get paid more in most districts.
I just started the series, but I think it would kinda be cool for you to do 3 builds for each career, level 1, level 5 and level 10. So that would be entry, mid, and very experienced in real life working terms. I think it would be cool to kinda see that progression. I know it would be more work and time, but I think it could be cool
I was actually surprised how the build was done. For the teacher career, I was thinking kind of make it a home school facility. In home classroom, would have been interesting take. But great job though
In my country teacher salaries are pretty low but they also vary wildly. That's because a teacher can pick up a number of hours, from as little as 8 per week. there's also several "ranks" a teacher can have (they have to pass them, usually also includes an inspection of a class). Also varies whether or not you're a teacher for primary school or university and so on.
My only nitpick is the lack of a storage closet / laundry room for the washing machine, storing the cleaning stuff and vacuum cleaner, etc. Otherwise, it slays!
both of my parents are teachers and I will say that location plays a big part, as well as experience. if you teach at a bigger school, you will earn more money. as well as if you work in a state with higher tax, you will earn “more money”, but in reality it has the same equality due to the cost of living. if you are an entry level teacher, you won’t make as much as someone who’s been in education for 20 years. also, high school teachers vs professors definitely differs.
Random challenge idea. You should look up prices of items and try to match it w the sims. Ex. A couch on ikea is 400 find a couch that's 400 or around it
I’m a new subscriber thanks to this series, I love the entire concept!! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention this career yet, but what if we built a house for a journalist ?
As a prior teacher, your salary depends on the county and state as well as how much education you have and your years of experience. I started at the lowest level at about 30k a year and didn't get above 40k in my 6 years of teaching
Is that with a bachelors degree? I think that’s extremely low with higher education. A manger position would pay more than that with just a hs diploma and experience. I know teachers go into it because they love it, there no other explanation
@@aliciaaa6021yep, that was with a bachelor's. That's one of the reasons I switched to a different career. I made more with no experience and no relevant degree than I did in my highest teaching position.

Next career suggestion is a Doctor.
ur videos are so calming 🙂
Public school teachers can improve their salaries by getting a masters degree in Canada, they may make more if they are the head/director of their faculty too. I believe you are paid more as a highschool teacher as opposed to elementary, and maybe more for special ed/gifted classes. Principles or admin usually also have higher salaries, and private schools also pay more.
A-List celebrity..mansion or multi story penthouse, partial snob, but is also a minimalist
In the UK, we have a pay scale. Starting salary is around £27k, top of the scale for 'teachers' is around £44k. Leadership can earn around £60-80k.
I was waiting for there to be a fruit bowl in the kitchen for the teacher to store all her apples 😂
I was about to say - 40k would be a dream for a teacher to earn in a year in Germany 😅 especially in rural areas
I love this new series so much 🥹
i absolutely adore the first house based on teacher's salary i need it tbh
love this series
The salary really depends on your state & district (not really your grade level), but many teachers have to get second weekend jobs/summer jobs to help pay for bills - especially in big cities
I'd love to see an artist/painter's house or a bookworm's house :D I think it's gonna look good with a touch of personalities as artist/bookworm usually are creatives
i love this one! the vibes are so cute and cozy
You build so effortlessly! It's so satisfying. I gotta step up my sim build game!💛
Thank you!! 😊
I LOVE THE DECORATION!!! Beautiful ♥️😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love this series and your design choices.
Thank you for picking my request! I would definetly love to live in this house
I’d love to see an actor career next!
I was actually surprised how the build was done. For the teacher career, I was thinking kind of make it a home school facility. In home classroom, would have been interesting take. But great job though
I *love* these series builds that you’re doing! It’s genuinely such a great idea 💡 ❤ 👍
You did such an awesome job for such a small budget!!
Can you do writer but build an apartment kinda like Carrie Bradshaw from SATC?
In my country teacher salaries are pretty low but they also vary wildly. That's because a teacher can pick up a number of hours, from as little as 8 per week. there's also several "ranks" a teacher can have (they have to pass them, usually also includes an inspection of a class). Also varies whether or not you're a teacher for primary school or university and so on.
How do you get your railing on the stairs to look like that? I haven't figured out how to get the wall to go on an angle like that. Amazing builds!!
Here in Argentina the salary for some (the most) of the teachers is around $6000, $7000 per year, so $30.000 doesnt sound so bad hahah :´)
I was about at 45000 when I first started, so this was honestly pretty accurate
I love this series so much, you should do a vet’s house next 💕💕🫶🏻
I love how you haven’t used debug landscaping to make it more realistic.
I LOVE this series! I recommend that you should build a lawyers home next❤️
My only nitpick is the lack of a storage closet / laundry room for the washing machine, storing the cleaning stuff and vacuum cleaner, etc. Otherwise, it slays!
Love it! And you didn’t use debug either to stay in budget. Great job!
me, a teacher, watching this from my gaming setup
This house is so cute! please post it in the gallery :)
love it! A nurse home. unfortunately, there is a wide yearly wage depending on the kind of work. I would say be more conservative at $60k. Thanks
both of my parents are teachers and I will say that location plays a big part, as well as experience. if you teach at a bigger school, you will earn more money. as well as if you work in a state with higher tax, you will earn “more money”, but in reality it has the same equality due to the cost of living. if you are an entry level teacher, you won’t make as much as someone who’s been in education for 20 years. also, high school teachers vs professors definitely differs.
ouuu, Lawyer!! Im obsessed with academia style builds but, up to you hun.
could be helpful to look at the bureau of labor statistics for salary ranges if you’re ever struggling to find consistent numbers for any careers :)
Random challenge idea. You should look up prices of items and try to match it w the sims.
Ex. A couch on ikea is 400 find a couch that's 400 or around it
An Accountant please 💗
Love this series. Keep it going!
Ok :))
Your voice is so calming❤❤
Can you make a serie where you build a house in a world only using that pack from the world + base game
I’ve been stalking your channel eagerly for the next episode ❤ Let’s go 🎉🎉🎉🎉
A doctor's, police, or artist for the next episodes. love your builds gives me inspiration. Thanks
Omg Ash I'm Loving this series ❤👌
22:28 now I wanna see the family that lives here
