The only credit I will give those statements is: In the ocean, aquatic animals often adapt/evolve as needed in some situations -- As an example, we weren't aware that the Frill Shark and Coelocanth were still alive and well until we started seeing them often enough to be like, "Oh yeah, they're still alive n' kicking." “Why I’d Throat a Cactus Before I Go In The Ocean” by Casual Geographic is worth checking out if you feel like reacting to an actual good deep sea video
@Rafael Briti that is not quite correct. It gets squirrely and weird, but even an expanding universe can be infinite. That being said, the observable universe is determined by the speed of light and therefore finite. In fact, since the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light (again, squirrelly physics, don't ask, I suck at explaining, there's physics channels that explain it out there), our observable universe is actually shrinking. Or rather, the amount of things within the observable universe is shrinking. At some point in the distant, distant future, the milkyway will be the only galaxy left in our universe and no one born in the milkyway galaxy after that point will have any way of knowing, that there is a larger universe out there.
@Rafael Briti welcome to the world beyond the scope of the human mind. Reality is weird. Like really fucking weird. But we don't tend to notice in our every day lives, because it doesn't affect us that much if we don't think about it. I've long since abandoned trying to understand and decided to leave it to the people who actually enjoy breaking their brains.
I like the fact that "angler" means someone who is fishing or fisherman. So their name is fisherman fish. (Refers to their light they're using to catch their pray, they are fishing after fish and the light is its bait).
Another weird thing about bioluminescence: Humans are actually bioluminescent as well. It's just that our bioluminescence is 1,000x dimmer than the dimmest light we can perceive with our naked eyes.
Squids fascinate me. Especially giant and colossal squids. The fact that they're as elusive as they are makes them even cooler. They are pretty mysterious in my opinion but in the coolest way possible.
9:28 I think the original image was a giant stingray captured cause the guy in the back seems to be holding the tail, and if not I love the idea of all of his friends capturing a monster sturgeon and him just loving his really cool stick.
Thanks for these reaction vids. I was a Fisheries Biologist in the Bering Sea and a Chondrichthyan Ecologist for years and I find myself echoing what you say in most of these videos, especially the extremely outlandish claims made in a lot of these videos. The Barreleye Fish is extremely interesting. I was on a hake vessel out of Seattle and was catching Spookfish (the group Barreleyes are in) as bycatch. So interesting to actually hold a specimen from that group. Also, barotrauma in deep-sea fish is very common, but not always occurs. Here in California, we see it all the time with Rockfish. Unfortunately, not many fishermen realize that it is their stomach and not their swim bladder, so they "vent" it incorrectly. Great videos!
"nobody's not exploring the ocean because they're terrified" False, I am terrified of the ocean, and therefore will not explore it. I am terrified because of corpses, and also the *A B Y S S*
Literal kraken (i.e. "crabzilla") versus giant sturgeon, now that would be very interesting, and some sturgeons even eat crabs, so that would be more than enough motivation for a giant sturgeon to attempt to eat a kraken
I cannot overstate how happy I am that you exist and post regularly on RUclips now an ichthyologist RUclipsr is what my hearts been longing for and I never knew
I remember in a Chills video there was a clip of a Oarfish and he was trying to say that it'll bite your hand off or some shit. They don't have teeth. He also did that about a anaconda that just ate and was swimming away by saying something like "it's trying to get into their boat"
I'd consider the colossal squid to be far less threatening than the giant squid. The colossal squid has a lot more mass, sure, but its tentacles are tiny in comparison to the giant squid. Thus the giant squid is better suited to attack you than the colossal squid. Neither are truly threatening for obvious reasons, but to say that the colossal squid is just stronger and superior to the giant squid in every way would be wrong.
The barreleye is one of my favourite fish, it’s so dopey and I think it is adorable. Also why does this guy sound like Emperor Palpatine every time he announces the “mysterious” creature he is like NUMBER 8! The Bloodjelly combjelly… dewit
You gotta give them credit because they put "Mysterious" in the title and not "Scary" which is kinda true so for once in their life they got the title right (mostly)
There comes a point where extra girth can only do so much more damage, and being able to slam in deeper is gonna hurt more. That's why I think people are more scared of the giant squid anyways.
Sad we didnt get to see anything from the giant squid part, because people who do there videos usually puts up videos of the collosal squid instead of the giant squid The difference (as he said) is that the giant is long and the collosal is chonky and has rotatable hooks on its arms

Architeuthis dux) is a species of deep-ocean dwelling squid in the family Architeuthidae. It can grow to a tremendous size, offering an example of deep-sea gigantism: recent estimates put the maximum size at around 12-13 m (39-43 ft)[2][3][4][5] for females and 10 m (33 ft)[3] for males, from the posterior fins to the tip of the two long tentacles (longer than the colossal squid at an estimated 9-10 m (30-33 ft),[6] but substantially lighter, due to the tentacles making up most of the length (ripped straight from wikipedia btw)
