If you go beach combing and pick up rocks like we did, you might be looking for projects to display them. This simple runner was made in a weekend with rocks we found when on vacation at Lake Michigan. I simply sprayed the rocks with enamel to give them a "wet look" and glued them down to a piece of automotive carpet using some special Elmer's glue. The process was easy and the end result is beautiful.
..... The clock dance at the end made the whole video...... pretty rocks!😂🤣
I'm gonna make this longer and make a chic table runner 💅 I can't wait! Thanks for your creativity!
Great idea and a beautiful end product! Thanks for getting the creative streak flowing. Will have to try this at some point in the future.
Ohhh, I’m so making this. I’ve watched a lot of diy for various “stuff”. This is one of the easiest and affordable projects I’ve seen. And to boot, it’s very beautiful and elegant! My only problem is finding rocks as beautiful as yours. But now I’ll be on prowl duty Thank you Matt
Nice out of the box thinking
Dear Sir: It´s a great pleasure for me to watch this video of yours. I have a huge collection of stones that I have been selecting for 15 years so far. My idea is to make with them something beautiful when I hope we, my wife and I, will build if we can, a nice simple villa and that´s the time for me to put my knowledge at work and make some nice decorations! Your idea is fantastic and easy, so, I will keep this video in my favourites for later on download it and save it as teaching material. I will join your channel too. Thank you very much!
Thank you! Great step-by-step instructions and... you made a beautiful masterpiece!!! ;-)
Simply love the idea, i am fond of collecting stones whenever i visit some beach.thanks for making these rocks useful❤

It's agood idia ....very nice....thanks
I love your idea, thanks sir!💗👍👍
Thanks for the idea! I found the black auto fabric at Home Depot. I made 7 circular rock mats to be used for decoration/candle/trivets. I applied a flame briefly to the cut edges of the fabric to clean up stray furs, and then used a black marker to go around the cut edging since some of the binding threads were white. It made for a nice clean and stark edge. Had to order the glue online -couldn't find it anywhere. Will be part of my homemade gifts this year, turned out nice!
Nice Job Mary! Glad you found the glue and carpet. My runner and coaster are holding up perfectly under regular use. The only thing I wish I had done was to cut the circle for my coaster before gluing the rocks to it. I couldn't get it perfectly round. I have a lot of carpet leftover and will me making more. Thanks for watching and commenting. Matt
Matt KnowsThat how u cut the rocks??
The rocks are not cut. They were found that way on the beach.

Love it, could it be use as a welcome mat in front of your door or any place on the floor to walk on?
Hey Matt, it's
my first time watching one of your videos but I can't wait to watch more. I really like the video from start to finish. Very precise and informative!
Are you a teacher? If not you make a good one 👍🏽!

Very educative, I will try it
I'm gonna try to do a door mat!
Beautiful! Love how you sorted them out; instructions easy to follow. Two things were missing: THE COASTER...and
where did you end up placing the stones 'with character' on the runner? I would've placed them on the edges of the coaster....
This vid is timeless! Thx!
I made sure that the really cool looking rocks were around the edges with a good face up. The coaster didn't come out as nicely as I would have wanted. I should have cut the circle in the carpet piece first so it would be perfectly round. I cut it afterward and it was oddly shaped. Thanks for watching. I haven't made any new videos in a while, but I'm glad people still enjoy the ones I have out there.
awesome
Great DIY and a magnificent final product. I'm definitely going to try it myself. Have you considered using E6000 glue instead of the Elmer? I've used the E6000 to glue beads and gems to fabric without the glue bleeding through the fabric. Just a thought! 😊 Awesome job!!!
Very cooooool .u rock 🖒😎
Great idea!!! I'm going to try this but with one change... What do you think?
Orient the rocks in the pre arranged pattern then flip them shiny side down.
Dot the runner cloth to a board with hot glue (removable later) to make it rigid.
Dot each stone with glue and place the runner on top of all the stones.
This should make the finished product a more uniform flush surface of stones.
New sub thanks for sharing
Fantastik bravo
very nice 🇴🇲👍
Thanks
Hermoso
Would this glue also work if I was using half marbles instead of rocks to do this project?
good idea and great but why dont u show on video for spray?? what kiind spray?
Super ideya sir
which spray do u used?
Very nice! Did you use the flat side or fuzzy side of the carpet for the base, to be placed on the table?
Great....
I was wondering what to do with the rocks I collected from Himalayas. Thank you very much.

Great
Is Gorilla glue comparable to the Elmer's that you used? Also, any more suggestions on where to get the fabric you used? Lowe's did not have it. I'll be trying this soon!
Mary Stafford The cloth is actually car carpet, so perhaps an automotive shop or auto upholstery shop. Mine came from Menard's which is like a Lowes but regional around here. Don't use gorilla glue! It will foam up and make a huge mess.
What kind of spray is that sir? Thank you!
Thank good vido
Hermoso;)
Super lik. Show de bola bjs

I want to make a terrarium. How could I glue the pebbles onto the potting mix. Could I also coat them with the same engine enamel stuff
I don't think you can glue the rocks to the potting mix, are you worried they'll sink in? You could just glue several rocks together stacked on top of each other so that the bottom one is touching the bottom of the Terrarium and the top is sticking out of the dirt. The engine enamel would be a good tough option but some outdoor mod podge would work also.
