My first live Sawai Gandharva experience....I still have goose bumps remembering this particular concert....Especially the magical stuff at about 6:07 is simply out of this world....couldn't believe my ears when she did it for first time in the vilambit khyaal... The best female singer I've ever heard...

Simply Beautiful and Extraordinary. What a velocity untroubled by careful inclusion of kalpana swarms. Authentic is Kaushikiji's in any venturing of hers , be it raag, or tumri or dadra or tillana or bajan. She is a classical conglomerate of many geniuses in one. I call her Renaissance Woman.
One of the finest singer.My opinion about presenting a Raaga is the artist should communicte the bhava of the raaga to the listeners deeply. For this good sahitya is the medium and it is to be communicted to listeners.Here singing is presented as a very tough task. Singing externally and accrobatically will distort the mood of the raaga bhava.At the end the listeners should have a soothing effect and they go in to trans.This is purely my personal opinion.
9 years late to this comment .but what do u mean , one shouldn't sing drut like it should be sung? Also not show their technical mastery which they have achieved extreme hardwork ,when it's appropriate. Also not showcase the elements of the gharana she represents and has recieved training of? Nothing here is inappropriate. This was the ATI drut of her performance , brilliantly sung . If someone would have sung it in madhyalaya then it would have been an issue. No rasa is destroyed . If u want bhaav go listen to vilambit. Understand before saying .
she sings well but tends to overdo sargam and abruptly leaves at the high octave pancham, which reminds the way Parveen Sultana would overdo the act. If she takes this honest comment seriously, her rendition will be even better.
