The rules should be updated such that no one even comes close to an illegal serve. The whole "I move my left arm out of the way during the last 0.13sec" being legal incentives player to play an "almost illegal" serve, and simultaneously makes the umpire's job much harder and wrong calls more likely. You do not need your non-dominant hand in the serve space after tossing. Neither your head. Do away with allowing the grey areas and it's nigh impossible to fault a serve in table tennis.

The toss was backwards like lots of other pros that do it. It's very easy to tell by the ump if the toss is not vertical. All you have to do is watch where the ball leaves the hand and where it touches the racquet. You can easily see the distance between those points and know it wasn't vertical. The inconsistence in the ruling is just the result of the constant lamenting of the players and their trainers and even spectators, that no official really wants to go through.
At this level of general unsportmanship it would be even better to get rid of ALL officials, because they can't do their job anymore without the risk of getting attacked, even IF they judged correctly.

Ovcharov FH tomahawk serve has the ball being projected across the width of the baseline - and no one has called it a fault. Idiots persist in saying that the ball drops vertical for the last few inches and therefore OK, which is nonsense. The ball must be projected vertical with very small allowances. It's not perfectly vertical, but it doesn't have to be perfectly vertical. The rules only require the server to project the ball near vertically upwards. Lebrun and the coach are disrespectful, they have to accept the umpires decision. The behavior of the coaches in such situations, are often the reason, the umpires are afraid to call a fault. Thats ridiculous, because most of the serves are illegal

This is weird because the Finland guy did it too almost everytime but the umpire didn't say anything... So instead of being biased watch the video again because the point isn't that Lebrun's serve was legal or not but that Olah DID the SAME THING but wasn't sanctionned.

So, do you completely understanding that both of players have illegal servers but the umpires called faulted only of Lebrun, right? Just to fair... if you said so. :)))

@@lheidorno9551 the problem was : "why waiting this moment to say that the serve is illegal?" If they say it at the begining, Alexis changes his serve and there is no problem

@@FreeStyle-gc4ln my Point is, the behaviour of the Coaches in such Situation is always over the top. They can criticize the umpire, but he just shouting and shouting. Thats not helpful...He is Like: "but the other one does it too"

This service rule is just a joke. There is no consistency whatsoever. Whoever had yhis idea should be banned from the sport. Hidden serves was one of the coolest part of the game...

The serve was a fault, but that is not the problem. The problem is that 60-90% of serves are fault but never called. The rule is shit and video won´t solve shit as there are millions of players playing with the same shit rule and have no video. We can´t have rules for the top that won´t work for the rest. We can have a higher quality in judging through video for the top is the margin is small (like in tennis and to a certain extend in futebol/soccer) but in table tennis video for top would mean different rules for top tournaments and all below.
